sooz you talk sense - but thats a year away! I really am being childish about this. Cheerfully told dh last night that if it takes as long to conceive as it did with ds (20 months) then he'll be about 43 by the time the next one arrives!! (he's 40 this year). Ok, don't kick me, I feel like kicking my own butt!!

CaptainCaveman · 02/06/2007 13:21

Right, off out to a party with ds now. Going to stop monopolising thread with my selfish whingeing - I'm sure you enjoyed the peace without me for 2 weeks!

Happy saturday everyone!!

ZipadiSuzy · 02/06/2007 14:56

CC - your not being selfish, you ought to read the last week of May thread, I was there, all me me me! Its lovely to have you back

CaptainCaveman · 02/06/2007 20:54

Gosh, where is everyone - outside enjoying the weather?
Been to the best party this afternoon, with a bouncy castle and tractor rides!! How the other half live eh?

mumtogusnalbie · 02/06/2007 21:59

Hi everyone, the Busiprone is working well and I can even say that I enjoyed DS1 birthday party today!

Bouncy castle went down well as did the sunshine.

Really hoping to be back in the land of living next week and will try to post more regularly.

God Bless
xxxx

MaryBS · 02/06/2007 23:00

Hi

Just a flying visit to say we are back safely from our hols - it was v. relaxing, the weather was changeable (sunburnt on Tuesday, cowering in a beach tent on the beach in the middle of a hailstorm on Thursday!).

Went to a v. nice Pentecost service on Sunday, made memorable by the fact the visiting priest forgot his sermon notes, so preached "with the spirit" - gave an excellent sermon too!

Off to bed now, but have been remembering you all in my prayers whilst away!

God bless

Mary

worzella · 02/06/2007 23:53

Hi everone - just a quick hijack re marking - there's an internet site that you can register your interest ( can't remember the address). I get £2.79 per paper and I can mark around 10 per hour - you also get £100 for the meeting where you discuss the mark scheme and an extra £100 if it happens to be a the weekend! I guess maths, even at AS level, is relatively easy to mark...

Otherwise, life continues to be hectic here. The one advantage of being so busy is that there's no time to feel fed up! I guess the underlying issues of feeling fairly worthless don't go away and so I'd appreciate prayer for that - the last sermon I heard was all about that and I spent the service in tears....

charleymouse · 03/06/2007 01:25

Many thanks for all your thoughts and prayers last month when I asked for them.

This message below is from a fellow "due in May lady" please add her little girl and family to your prayers.

All,

Thanks for your best wishes on my other thread.

Carys was admitted on Thursday morning to the our local Paediatric unit with an unknown viral infection. She was tested and on Thursday evening, we got the bad news that she is RSV Positive. We were told that it was going to a rocky road as this virus is very dangerous for newborns and prems.

Thursday night was ok. She held her own without support. Unfortunately on Friday morning she started deteriorating (as expected) and was placed in a full High Dependency Unit. She was hooked up to every monitor known to man, a drip and a zillion wires and placed in a resuscitair. Yesterday was rocky - her sats were swaying wildly and every slight bit of stress was sending her Heart Rate, Respiration and SATS haywire. Just after lunch DH and I decided to insist on a transfer for her to a Neonatal ICU - unfortunately because of the virus (which is very contagious), we couldn't find a bed anywhere in Cape Town in a PICU/NICU in an isolation ward. It was decided to transfer her to the adult ICU in our local hospital which is where she remains now.

My darling girl is fighting for her life. She is stable but critical. Please mumsnetters, please pray and send all of your best thoughts (I truly believe in being positive) to us.

My life is upside down, my baby is so sick and I am sitting her in the family room in the middle of the night almost too scared to go into the Unit for fear of bad news.

God help us.

I'll try to keep you all updated when I can.

Love dejags

Oops Sorry I just realised that Lulumama had already posted a link to this thread.

MaryBS · 03/06/2007 07:04

Can I just say I LOVE Maths

Jus thought I'd come on here and share this... (please accept my apologies - I'm still catching up with all the prayers on here!).

As I was up bright and early this morning, I indulged in a bit of channel flicking through the "God" channels (not something I do v. often, I hasten to add, in fact TBH I find a lot of it is OTT, although occasionally you find a jewel). I stopped on one - it was a preacher who was mimicking what people looked like when they channel flicked . She was VERY funny! But she then went on to say "God has a habit of calling people who don't have a clue what they are doing - because if they don't know what they are doing they have to rely on God"

This REALLY struck a chord with me. Time after time I've wondered why he's called me, when there are so many people more qualified to take up his calling. This isn't false modesty. I am NOT - or perhaps I should say WAS NOT a public speaker in any shape/sense/form. IMO you couldn't find anyone less likely to get up there and speak. Yet, as I've said before, God gives you the gifts to do it. Secondly, I'm having to work really hard because I know (knew?) so little of the bible. I feel like a piece of driftwood that God's picked up of the sand, that looked fit for nothing, yet with a lot of work, can be transformed into something else. Now that transforming's still going on, I don't claim to be anything special, and I hope I'm NEVER anything special because its God that's special and any focus should be on Him, not me.

I'm not even sure why I'm rambling on like this... I hope someone out there does!

Love and God bless

Mary

ZipadiSuzy · 03/06/2007 11:33

Good morning everyone

Mary - Nice to see you back, glad you enjoyed your holiday, but whats 'god' channels? I havent got any on my tv if thats what you mean! [puzzled]

Charleymouse - so re cerys, I pray for her recovery, poor wee mite!

worzella - isn't it strange when you listen to a sermon and it seems custom made specially for you, it is a bit overwhelming though I agree! I pray for you to feel more 'worthy'

MTGA - glad the sun shone for you lo' birthday, and praying you feel a bit better this next week, how long does it take for the tablets to kick in?

CD - Hia! how are you? have you accepted in your mind your DH new routine (thats going to be) you sound as if you have a good network of friends, I pray you manage with 3 lo's, when does DH start his new duties?

CC - have 'after holiday blues' set in yet?

I thank the good lord for all the support we are getting re DH redundancy

MaryBS · 03/06/2007 12:37

Hi Sooz,

They're available on Sky - about 15 channels. Most of them are American, and involve extremely lively preachers preaching to huge audiences. They have names like GOD, Inspiration, EWTN.

Glad to hear that things seem to be moving along positively for you and your DH!

CaptainCaveman · 03/06/2007 18:29

Hia all,

no post holiday blues Sooz, I'm always glad to be home after 2 weeks
Although I am still in a strop about my friend being pg - I think I'm annoyed with dh because it's him who says we have to wait until next year (about this time next year!). Sure I'll get over it when I grow up!!! am also annoyed with myself for feeling so childish about it all!

Am now v pleased for my friend though and she's texting me news about pg symptoms, so it's nice to feel involved too.

Praise God MTGAA that you've enjoyed ds' party

Glad you had a nice time away too Mary - can I ask what the BS stands for in MaryBS?....

What did I miss with your routine CD? something a-changing?

Charleymouse we are praying for the little girl and her family, hoping she's soon on the mend.

Notquitegrownup · 03/06/2007 19:44

Hi All

Many thanks for your prayers this weekend. We survived the visit to Nana and Grandad, though only lots of praying got us through without murdering one or other very excited child or Grandparent. Honestly, they are as bad as each other!

I have a spare copy of "Every Day With Jesus" Bible notes which was mailed out in error to me. (CWR have told me not to return it, but to pass it onto someone who might use it.) It is the May/June edition, so half over, but you don't have to read each day on the right day, do you? It's a nice study on emblems of the Holy Spirit - I've enjoyed this one. Happy to post it, if anyone is interested.

Lots of love and prayers for all.

X

MaryBS · 03/06/2007 19:50

CCM - they're my initials. I think DutchOma asked me the same question, I never DID find out whether she thought the BS might stand for something less appropriate... . Can I ask what you thought when you saw it?

NQGU - if no-one else wants EDWJ, I'd like it please, although I've been thinking of buying it for myself. A friend sent me one from earlier in the year, and I found it really good.

Please pray for Judy (and her daughter). I've been told she might last a week, but the reality of it is, is unlikely to see the end of today. They've had to reduce her painkillers as its affecting her breathing, so she is in a lot of pain.

Oh and THANK GOD!!! My Dbro is out of Iraq! Currently in Cyprus but should be back with his family soon, and for good!

CaptainCaveman · 03/06/2007 19:54

Well Mary, no reflection on you whatsoever but you know what the americans mean by BS? Thought it might be a tongue in cheek thing!! Really good news about your bro, praise the Lord he's safely out of Iraq.

Poor Judy and her family, praying for them at what must be the most difficult time

NQGU - glad your w/end went well

CaptainCaveman · 03/06/2007 19:55

and I have to add Mary, i don't think you have the slightest bit of BS in you!!

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 03/06/2007 20:26

Evening my lovelies!

Well after our little "fiasco" at 4.30am, I am definitely having an early one ...... Poor wee Phoebe took a nice long feed & then coughed and brought the WHOLE LOT back up - over herself, me, DH, sheets, duvet, pillows, blankets etc etc ...... Took a while to clear up, then she wanted another feed & then the other two woke up ...... deary me!

ANYway .....

Mary - thank you for the update on Judy Praying that she can be made more comfortable and praying for her DD, how awful it must be to see her mother suffering like this. Praise God that your bro out of Iraq - praying he will be safely restored to his family asap.

CC - You are not being silly AT ALL sweetie - Totally understand where you are coming from - Everything in you is crying out to be PG again and it so hard when someone you see on a regular basis has one of things you would like the most ...... I was 6 months PG when DH's bro announced he & his GF were expecting (I was due in Feb, they were due in July) ..... DH doesn't have a v.good relationship with his bro & we were thoroughly enjoying the whole "having the 1st grandchild" thing etc - I was soooo upset, esp as we didn't even know he had a GF!!!!! I cried like a baby when we found out ..... felt absolutely pathetic. {{{{hugs}}}} to you honey!

mtgaa - Praying that you are "back in the Land of the Living" asap honey - Sooooo pleased you managed to enjoy DS' Party & that the new drugs seem to have been fairly effective so far.....Stick with us!!

Worz - I pray that God would banish those feelings of worthlessness RIGHT NOW!!!!! {{{{{hugs}}}}}} It is good to have you back - hope Broadband comes soon ..... ....

Thank you posting the links about Dejags' wee little DD, Carys, lulu & CM - I am praying like mad for her, poor thing - as for her family as they have to watch her suffer like this, Praying she recovers from this awful virus fast. How are you doing charleymouse?? I cont to remember you in thoughts & prayers sweetie. xxxx

Suzy - Can't even get my head round new routine - Just need to "let it happen", I guess. I do have lots of nice people around me, but tbh, I get v.v.v.v.little help & support from anyone. Lots of prayers for strength & positivity needed at this time. Feeling v.anxious and a bit crappy about the whole thing if I am totally honest. Trying not to think about it too much .....

Roseylea · 03/06/2007 21:48

Good evening!

Mary I loved what you said about driftwood - what a powerful image! Thank you for sharing that! I am praying for Judy and her family too. May God hold them all in his love.

CD I am praying for you - may God give you the strength and joy for each day, and practical support. BTW this might just be a random thought but as I was praying for you I felt that God really knows and understands your struggles, and that in the future He will use this time in your life so that you can really walk alongside other mums who need support, and help carry their load.

CCM my prayers are with you too - I can so understand your desire for another baby. [hugs]]]!

Hi NQGU! Hey, I was thinking about the Meet-up - do we need to start organising things? It's less than 6 weeks nowe, isn't it? I am so looking forward to meeting you all!

Well we are all fine here - had a good day. I am thinking of setting up a prayer meeting for staff in the school where I work. I've just found out there is a christian club for the kids on a Monday lunchtime, and I'm thinking of setting up a prayer meeting for the same time, so as to pray for the kids at the same time as the club is running. I know there are a few christians on the staff, and it would be so good to get us together, and praying for the school. Also to have an anonymous prayer request sheet for staff who may not be christians but who may like prayer...hmmmm....[deep thought emoticon!] Has anyone else done anything like this? Any tips?

MaryBS · 03/06/2007 22:16

CCM - I know what BS is, but I'd never associated it with my name before, as my initials are MBS. It was only when I was asked "what does the BS stand for" that I associated it with "Tauri Excreta" (as a sign said above a train workshop door, that I saw on Friday). ... maybe I should change my name...

RL - we had a "prayer chips" box, at church for a while, where people could write their prayers on a "chip", or a slip of paper shaped like one, and put it in the box for people to pray on.

Tomorrow evening the tutor group are meeting up, we get our coursework back, having been marked. I'm REALLY nervous...

weirdbird · 03/06/2007 22:18

Hi all,

Though I had better let you all know i was still in the land of the living and doing ok.

Hannah was 5 months today and is doing well, I am ok, but there are definitely not enough hours in the day.

We are still loving our new church and are starting to make new friends and feel like part of the family.

I am still running my local NCT Bumps and Babes group which has grown dramatically, we are getting 20-30 mums every week, so please pray that I can be a positive influence for them and have the opportunity to share.

Also (cause I am certifiable) I am starting with another committee member a toddler group on a Monday, so we have somewhere for mums to go after the babes get to big for the baby group. We start tomorrow and I am trying not to worry about how unorgansied I currently feel...

Am not sure if taking on another commitment is the best thing for the housework but it seemed like the right thing to do. Please pray tomorrow goes well and I don't lose the plot entirely.

Still have baby brain and its not helped by lack of sleep, its starting to really annoy me that I can't remember anything.

Am praying for you all and am looking forward to meeting up, please let me know if you want me to do anything!

DutchOma · 04/06/2007 09:57

Mary, It wasn't me who asked but dd, only time she ever looked in on this prayer thread. She posts under the name of theUrbanDryad and although we don't see eye to eye on many things (especially Christianity, which she thinks is a lot of bunkum) I am really very proud of her.

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 04/06/2007 10:31

Awww, that is lovely DO!

Thank you for that passing on that encouraging message, Rosey - I believe that too, it is just hard to keep focussing on the fact that things will get easier when you are in the middle of "the hard bit", iykwim!!? Thank you though - just what I needed to hear! Praying for you as you think about starting this prayer group at school - sounds like a fab idea - are there many Christians at your work who would join you??

Prayer is sooo important!

Hi weirdbird - @ Hannah being 5m!! You sound busy - I am heavily involved in our local NCT branch as well - it is hard work, but I thoroughly enjoy it! Praying for you as you balance all your commitments and reach out to precious families in your area. May God truly shine through you! (No pressure, or
anything!!? )

Praying that the Coursework is ok, Mary hon - Do let us know - I am sure it will be fine, I remember those pre-picking up coursework butterflies so well. {{{hugs}}}

Not long til Meet-Up now ... exciting! Hope you are all having wonderful ideas for my Birthday Cake!!

Could you pleeeeeease pry for DH & I - we have quite a serious "unresolved issue" that rears it's ugly head from time=-to-time. We're really struggling with it atm and would appreciate your prayers - thank you!

Hello all

Back from camping on Saturday, had a good week - rain in stairrods at some points, glorious sun at others, the mini pandas and the minisnuffys had a fab time on their bikes and chilling out, and the adult pandas got stuffed at canasta by the adult snuffys every night (and we only taught them how to play the last time we camped together!)

Praying for you all
