Obviously, you don't have to make an appointment with your MP as suggested, you could email or post.

I'm not condoning what the dirty protesters do, but I can understand why.
First of all they are supposed to have council property as designated camping/ stopping places.
Many councils not just don't provide enough, but some almost nothing.
Some places are concrete slabs with no greenery for horses to graze. Yes, some do still have horses.
The ethnic cleansing in the 60's forcing travellers into brick houses when they had lived in areas for centuries. Look at The New Forest.
The gypsies did a huge service in world war 2, keeping the Nazis out of England.
They tried to instal a group in the forest, but didn't succeed as the Germans had no idea of the language difference and how it evolved.
In addition, Gypsies fought in the wars alongside the gorger communities, every family lost relatives just the same.
Luckily Romany were ok in the UK, but across the rest of Europe a quarter of the population of Romany were murdered by the Nazis.
They were considered as less than Jews, they were called "untouchables".
I have Jewish and Romany ancestry, my family lost many.
Here's the ethnic cleansing in Kent in 1960's.
A far cry from this.
My ancestors

Why shouldn’t the tax payer embrace the behaviours of different cultures, particularly very old established ones
Im happy for the tax payer to provide designated sites. Im less happy for individuals/groups to have to spend tens of thousands on clear up - how can that ever be acceptable.
TheQueef · 02/11/2019 17:58
Apart from civilised society and that gumf Heres the problem occurred when settled society decided not to allow travellers to just pull up.
If travellers aren't permitted to pull up yet are not permitted a designated space to pull up what is the option?
(Apart from stop travelling and live settled)

The Roma are oppressed all across Europe on an institutional level.

Why should they be able to just live where they like to detriment of others.
A lot of travellers are happy to completely disregard laws but then want laws to protect them, choose if you want to live by law or not.

I pay council tax I have a house, I also pay tax and NI as self employed.
I travel as a Romany Entertainer.
Everyone I know pay council tax it's part of registering on a site.
Jacques
I've not heard of Private property being trashed, only council property.
Some is not just to do with being a dirty protest sometimes it's to do with Marime.
Romany don't like any bodily fluid, some will cut a hole in their floors so it goes straight out, rather than have a toilet in their homes.
You see if we are allowed to live in forests and woods it's no problem.
We all have spades and can bury our mess.
There is a strict set of rules around cleanliness, it's very interesting. Women are separated during childbirth, periods, etc and no way do animals or their equipment come into the home.
Everything is washed in order depending on how close to the lips it has come.

Here's another. I'm currently researching, not sponsored but for my own work and benefit.

If I get nothing else from this thread, I hope some gain a better understanding.
It's quite long this one.

In 2017 our rugby club was done twice in the space of 17 weeks.
My friend in addition around the same time had her land broken into and lost a number of sheep.

So you think it’s acceptable that goes over rugby pitches that people pay for? Or grazing land for sheep?
HeresMe · 02/11/2019 18:24
@JacquesHammer
But it's their culture isn't it and we should have to respect it rubbish. They behead people in other countries shall we allow it here, well it's the culture.
The op doesnt seem to comment much about the anti traveller comments that people have experienced.

I said I don't condone it, but can understand. Where did I say it was acceptable?
Allow us to park up and we'll bring our spades.
I quite often use the loos at a supermarket, whilst buying food.
Still get gorgers having a go at this. Or at the venue where I'm performing and we do have a toilet, but I prefer to go elsewhere away from my home.
In our house/home we have two and woe betide anyone who leaves the lid up, let alone the seat.
Drabarni · 02/11/2019 18:28

You are coming across as discriminatory.
Of course I have witnessed bad behaviour from travellers and I call them out on it.
Just because I understand doesn't mean I agree with it.
But we are all different, I don't tar whole races with the same brush.
