So pretty low then compared to say the USA which is at the top of that dubious list...

US slavery was dubious? US killing of native people was dubious? It's historical fact.
lastuseraccount123 · 11/08/2015 17:27
oh, I get it. you misunderstand the colour coding.
grey = stage 10 of genocide, which is denial. this happens AFTER the genocide has taken place. that's why Turkey's in there.
SA is at 6, which means polarisation.
ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 11/08/2015 17:27
OK, so as the USA is higher up the list than SA, surely the petition should be calling for all white US citizens to be allowed to return to Europe - I don't understand the relevance of your link?
lastuseraccount123 · 11/08/2015 17:28
so, in short, it doesn 't mean the US is 'at the top" just that's what stage it's in.
ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 11/08/2015 17:29
oh, I get it. you misunderstand the colour coding.
Oops. Would be useful if your linked source actually had a key/explanation of the levels...
lastuseraccount123 · 11/08/2015 17:30
no, you guys aren't understanding the list. It's not a freaking competition between which country has killed more. it's about what stage of genocide they are. GAH.
can no one read on this board? The US list clearly has native Americans and slaves as the VICTIMS of genocide, and colonists, US army and slave traders as perpetrators.
lastuseraccount123 · 11/08/2015 17:31
oops, would be useful if you could navigate around a website Its all.
lastuseraccount123 · 11/08/2015 17:32
anyway, it's very telling how quickly you all jumped to conclusions to prove the source wrong. Very interesting.

because apparently no one can work it out:

lastuseraccount123 · 11/08/2015 17:34
but yeah, you're right. we should all be skeptical of genocide.
wtaf.
MarchLikeAnAnt · 11/08/2015 17:34
So, white europeans can: colonise a country, commit terrible crimes against the native peoples, implement apartheid and as soon as the going gets tough for them they should be allowed a free pass out? Wtf.
ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 11/08/2015 17:35
PoppyShakespeare · 11/08/2015 17:39
how can you return to somewhere you're not actually from?
ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 11/08/2015 17:40
Direct link to the explanation of the "10 stages of genocide" for those who don't have the inclination to trawl through the website, or are on a mobile device and having problems navigating the levels of the website.
www.genocidewatch.org/genocide/tenstagesofgenocide.html
I presume this is broadly
lastuseraccount123 · 11/08/2015 17:40
apartheid ended over 20 years ago.
colonisation happened 400 years ago.
Of course it wasn't right, but it seems odd to me to blame people for something their ancestors did. But, it is becoming clearer that this is why genocide happens - because one group of people are separated out from the rest of humanity and it's somehow decided it's okay to persecute them.
ANyway, that comes under 1. Question and minimize the statistics. and 2. Attack the motivations of the truth-tellers.
I'm going with the guy who actually studies genocide, not you lot
lastuseraccount123 · 11/08/2015 17:42
poppy fair call. they seem to be basing their argument on the Israeli right of return for jewish people.
ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 11/08/2015 17:42
Posted to soon - I presume this is the correct link as the linked table above listed 10 rather than 8 stages?
