Hi there everyone. A quick heads up to let you know that we're going to move this thread to Petitions in a moment.

If you still hold a European passport, even if you were born in SA, then you can return. I only know this because a friend and his mum came here around ten years ago. They both held British passports even though they were born there. The government gave them the choice of surrendering their passports or leaving, so they left.

Look, I'm a white South African. I live in England because my dad was born here and I was able to get a job in my field that actually paid my rent. No argument that it is scary to live in SA as a white woman, but calling the situation genocide is bullshit. Black women have it FAR worse. Black men have it far worse too. The government has, ahem, serious issues, but genocide... no. Hell, it's far better there now than in the 1980s, those good old days of civil war, terrorism, 20 per cent interest rates, sanctions, and laws against mixed marriage.

I linked to the petition but no where have I said they should get in BECAUSE they are white. However, if they have legitimate claims to asylum due to fear of genocide as a persecuted minority then why not?

Also, the link I made to the Canadian story showed how hard it is to claim asylum as a white south african.

To those of you saying it's not genocide: ffs sake, read. it's not genocide YET. There are stages that happen up til the final act, and SA is at stage 6. Since none of you are researchers in this area and stanton is, I'll stick with his definition.

they are all from SA government entities. I would just question how reliable those are, considering, AGAIN, that they won't allow a UN observer in to check up on them.

Again, why are they so reluctant to let her in? What are they hiding? Maybe their stats are complete BS?

If these particular white people can make a claim for asylum then as I said, let them make it.

Their claim might be legitimate. Plenty of white people can make such claims. They are more usually political dissidents, often very rich ones from former Soviet states or much poorer members of a European community such as Roma. I see no reason to exclude white South Africans from their number.

Why should they get any priority to return to Europe ahead of any other asylum seekers. In fact they should get less. Because they chose to go their or at least their forefathers did. And created havoc.

wow, the amount of bigotry against them is quite astounding.

I can see now how people get de-humanized and othered - in this case, because in the past SA whites broke a moral code that the west has come to embrace.
