in canada, a couple was initially denied refugee status, but they appealed. The judge basically backed them up and told the refugee board to reconsider their application. I thought that was interesting.

So... they were treated with the same due process as other refugees.

I've been thinking about the Israel point. For the principle to hold, the 'right of return' would need to extend to all people of European descent, regardless of whether they are considered at risk.

It happens in the UK all the time re: asylum seekers from all over the world. Nothing interesting about it.

You seem to struggle with the difference between basic opinion and fact - you said yourself that a friend of yours backtracked upon questioning and that instantly meant that they were in denial. the fact is that you are dead set, whatever ANYONE says - that they and we were wrong and there is some mad conspiracy going on.

Another fwiw but A couple of friends of mine were in Durban\joberg\ capetown abouta 3 weeks ago. Said they had a lovely time, it was absolutely beautiful yadadada (they were actually on honeymoon) - they showed me all of their boring lovely pictures- I know what you're probably going to say... They were probably sheltered or too far away from anything bad etc nope sorry,. Not their style) but funnily and weirdly enough considering everything you've said they didn't happen to mention that there was a genocide going on whilst they were exploring the country... Which to be honest is weird for them as i can't normally shut them up most days anyway im getting sidetracked. I think I've made a valid point before though - white south Africans have about as much right to return to Europe as I do to return to Africa. None.

And this has Nothing to do with what people deserve - at all. And I'm not saying that it isn't dangerous in SA but its kind of dangerous everywhere in the world at the minute...

Let's play devils advocate and white SA's DID get to "return" - without applying for asylum because they have a "birthright".
