I was just making a (what I thought was) lighthearted observation that on Pedants' corner posters can comment on language-related points that are generally considered not to matter on other boards (points around semantics). Not sure that warranted your rude reply upthread (although I agree the thread had been somewhat derailed) but there we are.

My post wasn't rude. OP started this thread for the viscous instead of vicious type of mistakes.

This mispronunciation has been around for a long time and not confined to mums - I had a friend who’d say ‘clicks’ and ‘clicky’ when I was a teenager in the late 70s.

It’s like pronouncing niche as ‘nitch’

There is nothing wrong with being asked 'How did you fare on your new medication?'

In a market hall, I saw signs advertising carits on a fruit and vegetable stall and wastecoats on a clothes stall.

I love seeing misspellings on market stalls. How could I resist buying spinige?

Not sure about the wastecoat though - is it something to wear when cleaning the loo, unblocking drains and putting the bins out?

Buying standard jeans for DS on Vinted, helpfully described as a ‘stable garment’. Which is good, if you’re looking to avoid purchasing any unstable jeans, or perhaps interested in clothing for your child to wear whilst mucking out their horse?

On a landscaper's flyer received today: 'Hedge Trimming/Shurbery'. It also had 'WE WILL BEAT AND GENUINE RESIN QUOTE'

How could these obvious errors come about? Has the landscaper been careless in entering on a DIY flyer printing programme?
