Hello ladies

Tracy the snow teddy sounds great! And I am glad to hear you are all feeing much better.

We have had the snow for 4 weeks now and I am fed up of it. Although, on the plus side I am getting used to driving in snow, and on ice, so that can only be a good thing.

Been out lots this week, tried to change Freya's nursrey but that is a dead end. Local private one charge a riduculous amount even taking onto account the LA grant I(literally hundreds a month) and the other nearest one only has pre school, not pre pre school. So, I am going to continue with my school run at least til the end of this school year.

How is your DD getting on with her nursery chaotica?

Have a good weekend girls, and have fun in the snow,

J&G

Chaotica · 12/01/2010 14:41

Sorry, Ladies Are any of you still there? I've been trying to stay off the computer due to migraine and blurred vision which has made me less that pleasant to be with, so I haven't posted in a while.

J&G - sorry to hear about the nursery. You're in Scotland aren't you (are you still??) so Freya won't be going to school this year. (Or am I hopeless wrong about that?) I probably wouldn't swap because our Freya starts reception in September.

She has a mysterious temperature and rash at the moment (with no other symptoms), so I've kept her off nursery so far this week. Meanwhile, DS is driving me spare since he won't do as he's told (so is doing fine for two), so I'm reduced to yelling helplessly as he does something really dumb and I can't reach him. Then he just gets down from dangerous place, shrugs and says 'I go time out', and toddles off . I wouldn't mind, but he knows exactly what he's doing...

The snow is sort of thawing here... (although it keeps falling out of the sky).

GYA - the time has gone so quickly, fingers crossed for you, i'm sure its all fine. If you are anxious cant you ask for a scan sooner to put your mind at rest? That is what I did and they were really nice and did one at 9 weeks and 11 weeks just to give me peace of mind.

Chaotica - hope your vision and headache is improving and that Freya is a bit better! Isaac is being a nightmare too at moment - keeps climbing onto back of sofa and trying to reach across to sideboard - he is an accident waiting to happen, he too just looks at me and shakes his head saying 'no dorty boy' but not actually getting down.

I try hard not to say they are naughty but its very difficult when Melissa takes great delight in telling him so.

J & G - Sorry you havnt been able to sort Freya's nursery.

I couldnt get on the computer as my internet was not working and my dh was away skiing lucky thing so not only did i have to cope with the kids on my own but I also didnt have MN for company either - disaster !

Hopefully we will all be able to get on more

THis flippin snow Melissa's nursery is still closed so we will yet again be snow crazed this week.

I hope it thaws soon

Chaotica · 13/01/2010 17:55

Hi All

You're all a lot less blurry today, thanks Tracyface.

DS is very upset about the Beebies schedule shakeup - He wants gigglebiz with "Captin 'norable" - his favourite character at the moment but he seems to have disappeared. (I know my kids shouldn't be so reliant on TV, but... )

Hope your scan goes well GYA. I agree it's a long wait (in my area there was no question of an early one, in fact they nearly didn't scan me until 15w as my dates were a bit wrong but I got a cancellation.) Hope you're feeling OK.

Freya has recovered (apparently some other children at nursery had the same bug but no-one knows what it is).

girlsyearapart · 15/01/2010 06:49

morning.

Both dds slept all night last night (even though up at 5am with dd2) I'm considering taking out a full page newspaper ad

Know what you mean about the CBeebies schedule. Dd1 doesn't like ITNG anymore so we don't watch the bedtime hour and have been watching tiny pop instead [hair ripping out emotcion]

Off to dermatologist with dd2 this morning while dd1 goes with my parents to swim and soft play- she made sure she told her sister all about that of course

My scan would've been at 15 weeks if I hadn't been re dated at the early scan. I'm sort of showing already so it would've been a struggle keeping it quiet till then.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Hi All

Good for your girls, GYA. I hope they keep the sleeping up. (I know what you mean about one telling the other all about the cool things they've done while the other one has been off somewhere else... Cue: @I want to go to a cafe/swimming/playground@ etc even though they might have done something stunning instead.)

I had toddler hell before lunch - wailing, gnashing teeth, stamping, more wailing. ("DS moved my lego brick!" and other such non-events, for ages.) Then I realised that DD had a splinter in her palm (which she swore didn't hurt) and removed it... and she's been fine and sweet since. I presume it hurt quite a bit, but she just couldn't process that information. (She was like that when she had a burst ear-drum - she said almost nothing and it must have hurt like hell - strange girl she is sometimes.)

girlsyearapart · 16/01/2010 08:50

Yep and at the last minute she had a tantrum because she wanted to come to the doctor!

Hi All

Too many ill people around here, although not me (I don't know whether that's bad or not - i get to look after everyone ).

DD seems to be getting the hang of nursery at last! (Or she did yesterday at least... The teachers all said she actually played imaginatively and took part with others. Fingers crossed that it continues.) (That didn't stop her moping and crying when I left her though...)

tracyface · 20/01/2010 10:24

Hi

We are all reasonably well here - touch wood!

Chaotica - thats great news about nursery - I really hope she has a good time next time she goes too. Its so nice to be able to talk to them in a positive way about the fun they had - altho Melissa never tells me anything about nursery ever , luckily I sometimes get some snippets from my friend who is the mum of the little girl she plays with mostly when she is there . So luckily I have a spy in the camp to keep me informed!

Isaac is going to nursery now just for 2 hours once a week and seems to be settling in really well. I thought he would as he doesnt seem to have any attachment problems that Melissa did. His Keyworker did say he is very strong willed so im not sure what she meant by that.

Supposed to be doing some coursework so better crack on and fingers crossed that the snow doesnt show!

Jewelsandgems · 26/01/2010 08:29

Hello ladies!

Yes, we have all been ill. The girls following their SF jab, and then the rest of us. Girls have some wierd gunge coming out of their eyes (Freya's cleared up now. Izzy just started with it) lovely!

All fine here, nothing to report, got Freya's best friend coming for tea tomorrow (why did I arrange such a thing?!!)

have sat night away at DHs work conferance thing so no girls for sat night wey hey!

DHs surprise party went perfectly - if I do say so myself [smug emoticon]

Chaotica yes glad your DD is liking nursery more, and GYA great news that your pregnancy is progressing well

Speak later!
J&G

Chaotica · 26/01/2010 13:01

Hi Ladies

I'm supposed to be at work but DD is ill on the sofa instead (don't know how much more of this my career can cope with) - the same viral infection that DS and DP had so I don't think the doctor will help. She's been up most of the night with ear-ache and anything else which occurs to her. Meanwhile DS has been slowly recovering (I hope) and I want to go to bed and hide (or be ill myself!).

Glad to hear you've been having fun, J&G. Let me know how Freya's tea goes - I have to work up to arranging something for DD soon (not to mention DS who is much more sociable).

Hope you're all OK.

girlsyearapart · 27/01/2010 18:57

Hi everyone can't remember if I posted to let you know my 12 wk scan was fine and the baby is due on Aug 4th.

Sorry to hear about the illness everyone. I'm feeling ok bit tired but not sick anymore unless I'm a car passenger.

Just come back from Champneys which was lovely.. If anyone likes the kind of thing they told me they will run a bring a friend for free promotion in June which is 2 night 3 days for around £280 ish (for 2 people) All meals and classes included. Bargain.

Chaotica · 27/01/2010 22:21

Glad the scan was fine, GYA and I am about going away... (No - really! - I'm happy for you )

Talking of which, I have to take my sick posse to see my dad tomorrow (or at least that is the plan if no-one has a temperature above 40). Unfortunately, there are still three contenders for the temperature ruling, so guess who will be packing and driving?

tracyface · 28/01/2010 19:03

GYA - thats brilliant about your scan , Im so pleased its going well . I'd love to escape to champneys for a night let alone 2 but cant see anyone not even dh agreeing to that!

My two have been on the edge of meltdown all day - again I think just a nasty virus of snotty cold with temperature but Melissa keeps complaining of tummy ache - but only now and again so much that I thought maybe she had appendixitus (sp?) someone correct me please. But I dont want my docs to think im being a hypocondriac again so have decided to see how she goes

She had a major tantrum over a toy from a kinder egg we had in france last year a tiny orange dog that got lost on the beach and suddenly she wanted it today ITs amazing what they remember and no matter what else you offer its just not good enough - so I gave up trying after an hour. But I was a very mean mummy and said no more kinder eggs ever, ever again not even in France. Which to her was also the end of the world!

Im guessing if she is good tomorrow I will have to relent and get her one but I am imagining it will probably be chucked at me if it doesnt have a little orange dog in it.

Any way Im supposed to be doing more homework so off I go - hope you all have a good weekend if I dont get on before.

Kaybeeand2boys · 28/01/2010 23:57

Hi everyone,
suddenly realised I hadn't been on here for AGES! A belated Happy New Year to you all!
Had a quick scroll thru and Congratualations GYA, thats great your 12week scan was fine.

We had a nice xmas and NY, MIL FIL and SIL arrived on boxing day and were here for 3 weeks. IN that time I finally managed to toilet train ds1 (now 3.2yrs!) ! next on my list but will wait till he is 2, so a few months to go yet.

Everyone I know here either pg or just had baby, and I am still undecided about whether to have a 3rd.............or to send DH for the chop!

girlsyearapart · 29/01/2010 07:05

Kaybee I'll let you know whether to have a 3rd in August! Have the feeling that I'm going to be run ragged..

We initially wanted 4 but this pregnancy has been stressing me out so I don't know. We'll have to see what this baby is like then decide.

DH verges between wanting to have the snip as soon as this one is born and saying he'll have as many as I'm willing to bear!

Kind of wish we were having twins this time then that would definitely be that. Probably will end up going for a 4th then it'll be sextuplets or something

OP posts:
Kaybeeand2boys · 31/01/2010 09:02

lol I will await your report GYA on what it's like. If I could just order a baby girl aged about 6mo then I would go for it! Just can't face the pg/birth/first few months again.... And to be honest I can barely handle the 2 kids I do have so maybe another not a good idea

girlsyearapart · 31/01/2010 12:55

Yep well we went out last night and DHs friend decided it would be a great time to tell me how much of a nightmare having 3 is

Bit late now..

myhandslooksoold · 31/01/2010 13:02

hello just saw your post title and wanted to drop by to let you know it all gets MUCH MUCH easier and fabulous.
I have 2 children 17 months apart so for a few years it was extremely hard work.
However, now they are 5 1/2 and 4 it is FAB!!! They play together all day- are lovely company for each other and are a happy little duo. I'm pleased to report we have very few tantrums and life is getting much more civilised. I don't know how long that will last as we're now expecting a third.
So hang in there be firm and it will get easier!! xxxx

Jewelsandgems · 31/01/2010 20:49

It's funny you should all be talking about having a 3rd. Yep you've guessed it girls - I am bloody pregnant. I knew it would happen eventually with DH protesting against the snip and being seemingly condom-a-phobic.

Yes, I know we are stupid. He head is spinning I really don't know what to do. And don't hate me girls, but I am definately leaning towards not having the baby. I just don't want another!

And just as this happens, it seems everyone on TV etc is bloody pregnant! Why is that?

girlsyearapart · 01/02/2010 06:57

Hi myhands thankyou for the positive words!

j&g make sure you think about this veeery carefully. What does your DH want to do?

OP posts:
Kaybeeand2boys · 01/02/2010 19:27

Oh J&G I really feel for you Have you had a big talk to DH? Maybe give it a week to sink in and then have a big talk about it all...

Jewelsandgems · 02/02/2010 07:55

we had a talk yesterday and we still feel the same. I have an appt this morning to book a termination (and hopefully I will be able to get the abortion pill, rather than go through the other prededure)

I know some of you have 3 and that's great - for you. But I really can't think of anything worse for me. The whole thing just fills me dread, and so I know the it's the right decision.

tracyface · 02/02/2010 20:05

Oh J & G its sods law isnt it?

Here's me kicking myself that oh had the snip and me thinking just maybe we should have tried for one more. I guess you always want what you cant have and I am thankful for what we do have. But yes you have to make the right descision for you and your family and thats all that matters.

Hope you are not feeling too awful about it as time is a great healer and it will all be soon over and hopefully you will feel better about it [big hug]

Thank myhands for the encouraging words.

I agree it is getting easier so much so that I have possibly decided to child-mind a one year old to go with my two and three year old so guess I will be eligible for this thread for quite a while longer [shocked]
