New thread. Last one too long!

Chaotica · 17/11/2009 21:31

BTW J&G - I think you should tell your DH that if he wants to get near your indicator in future he'd better ask first! [wink}

Chaotica · 17/11/2009 21:34

or just

tracyface · 17/11/2009 21:48

Chaotica - thankyou for your kind words. And yes you are right i really crave some me time.

Both Melissa & Issac now have upset tummys and I was blaming it on teething so it cant be. My kids are so sickly

I have a sad day tomorrow as its my cousins funeral and so I guess I have someone else to think about other than myself. I still cant believe it really she was only a few years older than me and has a daughter aged 19 the same age as my eldest. She was at my wedding in July and seemed fine so its been a real shock.

I really should stop being a moany old cow and try to be more positive ......I will try after tomorrow.

Really sorry to hear about your cousin, Tracyface. That is really sad (her poor daughter as well). And please don't feel bad about moaning on here - that's what this thread is for. (Although you are allowed to tell us about good things as well.)

I hope Isaac and Melissa feel better soon. Our CM thought DD was getting sick today but so far she hasn't been sick...

girlsyearapart · 18/11/2009 08:19

Sounds horrible for you atm Tracyface.

Chaotica is right though come here and vent/moan it's what we're here for.

Kept up last night for 2 1/2 hours by the dds. dd2 woke around 2am and I left her mildly grizzling for about half an hour then she stepped it up so I brought her downstairs till 3am. She must've been itching as pj trousers were off and she was giving her legs a good old scratch. Anti histamine and a bit of milk she then slept till 7.

She woke saying 'Mummy Mummy Up Up' which was funny as she has only just started talking.

Dd1 was awake by the time I went back upstairs at 3 and then proceeded to create until 430 on and off. Asked DH to go at one point saying how long I'd been up for and he said 'Oh give me a minute' No flipping point then!

Anyway so I'm tired today..

Yes DH does give me directions but it can be veeery irritating as he lists all the roads. I prefer directions like ' Go past the shop - you know the one where we bought that mirror? (insert story about mirror), past the pub - you know the one where we went for Y's birthday (insert story about Y)etc

Guess that's why I'm not a cabbie and he is!

OP posts:
Chaotica · 18/11/2009 23:52

Evening All

GYA - My directions are more like yours (what's the point in knowing road names if you're not a cabbie?) (especially if you're married to one).

Tracyface - hope you're ok, despite the funeral.

I'm so tired today, although I have no right to be reading about how much sleep GYA and Tracyface are getting: I should stop moaning. It was a pain today though because even though it was dry, it was too goddamn windy to go out and play (flying playhouse on the head was too much of a threat so even DS said it was 'too windy' to play out). I doubt it will get any better tomorrow either, although there is a playgroup to go to to pass the time...

girlsyearapart · 19/11/2009 07:20

morning. Forgot to add when DH was teaching me to drive I burst his tyre driving into the kerb as I was looking into a shop window and the car sort of drifted over..

Better sleep last night. dd2 630 pm- 545 am dd1 7pm-615am no night waking.

Did some xmas shopping yesterday am determined not to get in a big last minute panic this year.

Have a good day all

Robbie has just redeemed himself (in my eyes) on children in need with his new single I really liked it and though he seemed more like his old sexy self. After that scary performance he made on Xfactor with his spaced out look - what was all that about? He had a 'rabbit caught in the headlights look!'

Cheered me up this evening...Cant tell Im a Robbie fan

Had a better day today. Went to toddler group and they had the fire engine there . Melissa was so excited, she even got to spray water everywhere with the hose. Isaac didnt like it poor thing and cried although he did like being in the fire engine and of course the torches. So quite an eventful morning.

Isaac still has a sore bum poor thing but I think the metanium is starting to work or at least it would if he would stop pooing !

May try to get him to eat loads of bananas to try and bung him up!

Doing an nct sale this weekend so got loads of labelling to do tomorrow - its such a faff but worth it when you get your little cheque back after a few weeks its like a lttle windfall. Although I always buy more when I am there and kick myself afterwards. I do like to think I have got a bargain

GYA - glad you are getting a bit more sleep. Not too bad here mine have been going about 7pm to 6.30 ish but its still earlier than I would like!

Lets hope we all get a good night tonight

girlsyearapart · 20/11/2009 15:00

Firemen and Robbie- very jealous!

Took Dd2 to hospital today for her MMR after a lot of faffing and waiting she has had it done and has not had a reaction to it (so far)

Have my niece overnight tonight she's 4 and a total handful lively child.

Hoping for a quiet night tonight as am exhausted, up in the night and then up for day at 515am followed by morning at hospital so need a rest!

Have a curry for me and Dh to have after they have (hopefully) all gone to bed. Need a veg out evening I think.

Evening All

Glad you've had a better day, Tracyface.

The firemen are due at our nursery soon and I imagine that DS will be scared if they let him go too. Who knows what DD will do - having started out fine at nursery, she has gone all flaky and clingy on me and I had to leave her crying this morning. I don't know what it going on (although she did discover this week that it is possible not to go if you don't feel well, so she's been suddenly complaining out of nowhere ) And again...

Added to which, DS was extra moany and not sleeping as much as usual (which might well be connected).

GYA - hope you're getting a chill out night (I'm angling for an Indian take-away from DP...) And I hope your DD2 doesn't react too badly to the MMR. (Although, as our HV pointed out when DD got all 3 reactions, at least she's immune now.)

Jewelsandgems · 20/11/2009 22:09

GYA well done you for having the 4 year old overnight too! I had one of Freya's friends just for afew hours and that was bloody exhausting!

Tracy glad things are better for you now, I always did feel better after a good chat to HV too, I think the best thing is just to let it all out!

Chaotica yes, since Freya has had thay bout of earache, she has realised that complaining of something aching can mean she can moss nursery. i told her the day before yesterday she had to go, and it was not up to me so she went (and had a great time)

Well tomorrow we are off to linlithgow, to buy two goochicoo dolls that have sold out everywhere else. (up here) I looked for ages on argos site, trying all the stores that had both the kitten one and puppy one and linlithgow was the only one to have both left (the others did not have any of them) lets hope it is worth it. So for xmas, they ar egetting:
1 goochicoo doll each
1 little tikes toy kitchen/laundry thingy
other small bits

Doesn't seem like a lot does it? But I do remember last year both girs being totally overwhwlemoved by all the presents. And at least these ones are all big and fit nicely in the playroom (swishes hair like women do who have playrooms and wishes we were as rich as those women)

The move is thursday, and freya kind of understands she is going to a new nursery. It is a private one though, which does the LA pre-pre-school too. Not sure how that works - can any of you shed any light?

Night all,
J&G

girlsyearapart · 21/11/2009 07:22

Morning all.

Well- last night wasn't too bad.

My two were exhausted and went to bed at 7. My niece also asked to go at 7.

By 830 she had come downstairs 3 times, asked to go home, had a lip wobble, stamped about, watching an entire Peppa Pig dvd and was well and truly awake.

Put another dvd on and thankfully by 9 she was asleep.

Dd1 woke up coughing and my niece fell out of bed once but apart from that quiet.

Dd2 woke at 520 though and was covered in sick all over her bed and herself.

Also v itchy.. Anyway called the childrens ward where she had the MMR and they reckon it's not a reaction and only bring her in if she continues to be sick or has a temp.

Am also a bit about whether it's a reaction as she was sick twice last week/end.

Agree about the children being overwhelmed with pressies at xmas, I'm really paring it down with my own and my nieces and nephews this year.

Mine are getting a puzzle each, some stocking fillers and a table from Ikea which matches some chairs they have (the red plastic ones).

Dd1 is getting a 'big girl bed' from the ILs. Not really looking forward to her roaming the house at night.

Looking forward to this nursery lark though if you get the firemen in

GYA - you are brave: glad you survived the night. I hope your DD2 isn't being sick again. I remember DD being sick a lot between 1 and 2 - the nurse and HV said that she'd probably just grow out of it and she did (but it was a pain while it lasted) - privately they said they thought it was teething but that that was not what the medical profession said.

J&G - hope you got the dolls. And well done for planning for christmas so soon. I think your list is fine - we've certainly found that young children don't really want too much at once. (Our two got an early xmas elc rocket present yesterday because DP was convinced that we'd be trapped in the house all weekend due to bad weather...)

Glad you're doing better, Tracyface. I hope it's continuing.

J&G - it's a relief to hear that there's a bit of nursery-itis going around. Sorry - I don't know what the LA pre-pre-school is, although I might be being daft...

Hope you're all having a good weekend.

Chaotica · 21/11/2009 21:46

BTW GYA - Do you tend to hang around fire stations?

Jewelsandgems · 21/11/2009 21:56

GYA yes we have the odd bout of sickness here too, and sometimes it doesn;t equate to anything else. It is so upsetting though, if there is one thing I hate it is sick [yuk emoticon]

Chaotica LA is local authority. Freya's nursery is part of the primary school so it is easy. The new one is private so you can add hours on, take hours off, send them all day, not at all etc etc (hvae no idea what I am talking about can you tell?!)

Today was a nice day, got the dolls (code word 'cleaning supplies' - yes girls were in car "what's in the boot mummy?"....)

Well chaotica, last year we rushed around and ended up spending alot of money last minute in early learning centre and I don;t want to do that again. Hopefully, they can play with the dolld indivudually, and play with the kitchen together....[hopeful emoticon]

Night ladies

girlsyearapart · 22/11/2009 07:14

The chemist said that about teething making them sick too so maybe it is that as she has cut another back tooth this week.

She woke at 450 this morning no sick and went back to bed about 40 mins later. I just feel a bit on edge at night as she's done it twice in her sleep and we haven't even heard her.

May get some time to myself today as my sister is returning the favour and having the dds for a few hours and cooking us a roast plus she bought me some lovely flowers when she collected my niece.

Felt sorry for my sister though as she chucked a huge tantrum and didn't want to leave- she had asked for her Mum about 5 times when she was here so she did miss her.
Always the same she really creates for my sister even though she bends over backwward to do nice things.

I don't hang around fire stations but I may start thanks for the idea..

Hi girls - just a quickie to say yes things are much better with me - but have promised myself i will finish clearing our junk room (well Isaac sleeps in there) and get it sorted for him so no time to post much.

Kids ok but both have upset tummy and Isaac has now had it 10 days - do you think thats possible to be teething or something else?

Dont know wether to try and keep him off his milk or not as it does not seem to be making any difference and his poor bottom is so sore .....been through 3 tubes of metanium and he also has an infected toe poor thing.

I feel a trip to the doctors coming on in the morning

But then it has to be after I have been to the dentist to have my filling redone because its still hurting.

Catch up tomorrow - hope you all had a good weekend.

Jewelsandgems · 22/11/2009 19:28

LOL at your DH GYA

Tracy glad things are better and good luck with the clearout. We are clearing out ready for the move on thursday - feels good doesn't it?!

upset stomach for 10 days doesn not feel right to me - and never mind the dehydration. I would give canistan a go, Izzy had a dribble rash when she was younger and it had mutalted into a full on yeast infection. The canistn had it sorted and gone within days of using it. Do try sudocrem though - we have used that with both girls and neither of them have ever had nappy rash - and you can put it on really thick.

All fine here, mum and dad over for dinner so - yes you've guessed it - Freya was in super-naughty mode. My husband says it's because I let me mum override my discipline rules and I am starting to think he is right. When we are on our own Freya would never say 'no' to me. But when my mum is around it is her favourite word. I am going to have to get tough (the thing is, if I go to discipline Freya when my mum is around mum sighs and then picks Freya up and covers her n kisses) I know I have ranted about this before.....time to do something about it? What do you think?

Night all
J&G

P.S what ever did become of luckymummy? she was such an regular poster and then she went on holiday, never to be heard from again.!

Chaotica · 22/11/2009 22:20

Evening All (once again)

At last the singing from upstairs has stopped. But only in the last couple of minutes. (I should be grateful that it was singing, not crying, I s'pose.) But getting up for nursery tomorrow might be difficult.

Had a great day here - we all went swimming for the first time in ages. DS pretended to be an octopus or a fish, and DD is finally brave enough to get her face wet (although not to duck under). Twas good, and we should go more often (although too often we get stopped in our tracks because someone is ill). DS has a tantrum this evening because we couldn't go swimming again. Now.

Tracyface - I hope you had a good clearout. DP and I were talking about that today, although we've not actually done anything about it.

LOL at your DH too, GYA.

I think Luckymummy might have been abducted by aliens... Or something... (Come on, lurkers - start posting! [stern emoticon})

I don't know how you manage with your mum, J&G. It must be very confusing for Freya. FWIW, I'd keep her on the hours she's on now at the new nursery, if that's what she's happy with. (And that's what your happy with.) We have no choice here either as it is a local authority one, although our Freya would be exhausted by longer hours anyway even though she goes to a CM all day sometimes.

girlsyearapart · 23/11/2009 09:34

Morning.

All ill in the GYA house.

Both girls have coughs. Up and down most of the night with dd1 who sucks a comfort blanket to sleep but can't as coughing/wheezing so much.

Dd2 slept for nearly 12 hours straight then went back to bed again 2 hours later. Dd1 is currently in the sofa/duvet/cbeebies zone.

Couldn't get a doctors apt as you have to ring at 830 when the phone lines are jammed by the time you get through all are taken. The only way is to get there 8ish and queue which funnily enough with ill children isn't such a fab idea..

Tracy-Also think 10 days upset tummy is too long. The milk is pretty much all I could get mine to have when they're ill though so I don't know what else to do?

OP posts:
tracyface · 23/11/2009 15:58

Morning - Yes ill here too!

GYA - I sypathise I had the same problem getting through to the docs it took me from 8.30 - 9.15 to get through as just constantly engaged its very annoying, so oh had to take Melissa to nursery and all the drama that went with it. Like he couldnt find her wellies, umbrella etc. Took Isaac to docs and he has taken a sample of his poo and said its probably just a virus or again its Rotavirus. He said teething does not give them diarreah or a sore bottom, However he said no dairy till the runs clear up so its going to be miserable here . I tried for two days but it obviously wasnt ling enough.

But he didnt give me anything for his poor bum just antibiotic cream for his toes.

Chaotica - At least it was singing! We had an awful night with Melissa who would not go to bed from 7 till 11.30pm I counted she got up 37 times.

I did all the supernanny thing just no eye contact and not talking it killed my back keep lifting her back into bed. I of course made it worse half way through by relenting and giving her a hug.

I really dont know what was the matter (possibly not well as she still has bad tummy) but maybe its because I read her a story about father christmas and he went into the children's bedroom and put their presents in sacks at the end of their beds. OOOps ! She also woke up in the night twice asking for her door to be kept open (and it never normally is)

Maybe we should go visit Santa and get him to say he will only leave presents downstairs by the tree and not upstairs?

I really hope she is ok tonight as im shattered.

J&G I think you are right - maybe you should have a word with your mum. Do you think she knows how you feel, maybe she would be less interfering if you said something otherwise there is probably no point. From experience I had a similar thing with my mum and although it was difficult to approach I think it did help.

Can you believe it I just shed a tear at Beauty & the Beast, must get out more or maybe its because I am tired and emotional

Huge post , sorry first time I have sat down today. WE shall see what tonight brings.

girlsyearapart · 24/11/2009 08:27

37 times!! OMG

That's one tough customer..

Dds still ill and couldn't get an apt for them yesterday arvo either.

Need to shake it off as they are meant to be staying overnight at my sister/mum's on Saturday as we are going to a 30th party.

Meanwhile I am still in my pjs in bed with the dds running (crawling) riot around the bedroom.

OP posts:
Chaotica · 24/11/2009 21:36

Evening All

37 times? I don't know how you managed Tracyface. I'd have lost my temper and the plot well before that. (I went into the room after the singing and running around to find that DD had been handing out books to DS so he could have his favourites in the cot. She's a kind girl at heart, even though she should have been in bed.)

Sorry to hear so many of you are ill. I hope Isaac is better soon - perhaps J&G's suggestion of thrush is on the right track. (I'd disagree with the GP about the teething and nappy rash though - both my two had it, although it never lasts more than a couple of days.) At least it's easy to get a test done while he's still in nappies.

My doctors are really good about getting appointments for the DCs (at least with a nurse) the same day. (I used to have utterly useless GPs though (one place had a 6 week wait to get a repeat prescription for painkillers which I needed right then), so I remember all too well what it was like. Thankfully didn't have kids at the same time.)

GYA Saw a fire-engine and firemen today... - Sorry but I thought I should mention it to you (not just tell the DCs as usual).

Chaotica · 24/11/2009 21:37

Get well soon everyone, btw

(We just have colds again here - so I can't complain.)
