lolipop first time user here and brand new nappies.. i know the nappies get wet, but they leak on the clothes and the bed...

rachel - using bummy wrap and ME wrap

treedelivery · 16/12/2008 15:26

Hope bug has bugged of Essie

Tostaky - can't help you as haven't used yet, still awaiting the baby, but sounds like a wrap problem to me. Someone here will have advice.

treedelivery · 16/12/2008 15:29

My only help as am novice - but there is def no nappy showing through the wrap at legs or waist, to wick onto clothes? Also think that tight baby vest and babygrow squeezing the nappy can encourage wicking. Clothes need to be loose and free, man.

tostaky - are these his nappies at night that are leaking? or is it all the time? If it's just night, you may want to consider getting something a little more absorbant for night time. Also as tree said - check that none of the nappy is poking out of the wrap, as this can let moisture wick out onto clothes etc.

I've got some more nappies coming tomorrow! Some pockets to useon the ong train ride to Scotland. So excited. I know - I haveno life.

lollipopmother · 16/12/2008 16:15

Treedelivery 'Clothes need to be loose and free, man.' That just made me snort!

Tostaky - Did you buy the nappies new? If so they might need washing a couple of times to get their absorbency up, but I've never used the nappies you've mentioned so I'm not sure how many washes they need, not many though. I am surprised you're getting wet clothes with an airflow wrap, they're pretty bomb proof. What size airflow are you using? I had my DD in an XS until she was about 11 weeks as the small was totally massive, she was 8lb 10oz at birth so I was expecting the small to be fine (I started using cloth on week 3).

wenceslasmyeducation · 16/12/2008 18:56

I was just going to say that about pre-washing lollipop, but you beat me to it!
Also Tostaky, if it's an airflow wrap, it shouldn't be tight, as that causes leaks, it should cover, but be a little 'loose'. The only time I have had wee leaks was when it was time for us to move up a wrap size and they were a little tight.

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 16/12/2008 19:54

tostaky, I have some flexitots and have used them successfully on my 14 mo old DD over night. They do need washing a few times before use. The bamboo ones will take about 6 washes or more before they are up to their full absorbency as well.

flying visit from me....lamb chops burning!!

Hi there, better, thanks treedelivery! It was a bit grim really - bfing whilst sick isn't funny.

OK, my e-mail address is sara.e.roberts AT bangor.ac.uk, and I can happily accept bank transfers or even a cheque! (I'd be charged for paypal, right? Don't want that!)
I haven't done the sewing yet, but I will endeavour to do so tomorrow when I can get into the nursery where my cotton reels are. I should get a good match for each one; I don't want to use invisible thread because it's too plasticky.

I'm overanalyzing this and need to get out more!

treedelivery · 16/12/2008 20:35

Poor you Essie3. Yak!

4CALLINGBIRDSandnotout · 16/12/2008 20:39

Essie have emailed you

RhinestoneReindeerHerder · 16/12/2008 20:41

Can I butt in and ask for a bit of advice?

Not a virgin cloth user (DS has been in cloth since 4-6 weeks), but am slightly ashamed to say that I used a laundry for the first 18 months . I then used mixed of shaped nappies and squares, he is currently potty-training.

DC2 is due soon (Sunday) and wanted to ask what are best folds for newborns, as I already have squares?

thanks

p.s. rachelinscotland, I have several one life wraps in large sizes and find them v similar to my ME wrap.

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 16/12/2008 20:48

Hi Rhinestone Reindeer Herder. The jo-fold is a good one, you can roll the legs in too so that they contain explosive BF baby poo.

More folds here too. I experimented with a few of them till I found the one I liked and worked best.

Essie, I didn't realise you had been poorly. Glad you are on the mend now

thebluefoxategreensocks · 16/12/2008 20:50

RhinestoneReindeerHerder: Thanks for reply about one life wraps. Baby not due till April, so a while before I can actually try them out - but at least I'll see what they feel like when they arrive in the post.

RhinestoneReindeerHerder · 16/12/2008 20:58

Thanks twelveDAISY . Will have to get practising new folds, have used kite with DS mostly.

rachelinscotland - the material is different on the onelife, more plasticky I think, but shape-wise pretty much the same.

oopsIstuffedaturkey · 16/12/2008 21:16

Rusmum/Uptomyknees - please let me know if you posted me the prefolds? I sent the money over a week ago and I am getting desperate for them. Thanks

MatNanPlusTINSEL · 16/12/2008 21:26

Rhinestone i roll/fold the long edges to fit the wrap, they are great at poo catching

Those gDiapers look good, are any still available TLES?

ChristmasFlower · 16/12/2008 22:18

Hi RRH - I used the bat fold (though with muslins, as supposed to terry squares, with a XS ME airflow) and not a leak, rolling legs in. Good luck!! (OMG it seems ages ago I had a bump and was spending sleepless nights practicing folds... )

Essie glad you're better.

TLESinChristmasStockings · 16/12/2008 22:19

Matnan sorry all gone!! got plenty of other nappies though lol

VeeBee3 · 16/12/2008 22:38

Hi all

wenceslas - thanks for the info started looking at other squares and just realised how many different brands there are to choose between .
tree - how did the playroom declutter go? Hate having to go through kids toys before they get topped up again at christmas!
lollipop - know what you mean about cheques, came across someone recently who had no idea how to write one lol! God don't i sound old!

i know i'm forever asking questions but here goes another one....
I have been using mothercare smart nappies as my main. Having probs with it as the reusable pads don't fit well in the medium outers. Have complained to mothercare awaiting the response! However i would like to find another similar type of nappy to use. DH likes them cos they're so easy for him to use. Like sandys and have a couple of fluffles but not so keen on them. May have to sell them on to finance the new ones i buy.
Any ideas will be gratefully recieved. Have been looking at BG and lusting after a bluberry but crazy price puts me off. Help, feels a bit like i'm back at square one!!

jinglebelles · 17/12/2008 09:39

oops sent ages ago- Xmas post presumably!!! Let me now when they arrive!!!! J

MatNanPlusTINSEL · 17/12/2008 11:31

Could you use cotton prefolds like Bambino Mio size 1?

jinglebelles · 17/12/2008 15:54

oopsIstuffedaturkey · 17/12/2008 17:00
