GENERAL CHAT THREAD FOR CLOTH NAPPY USERS - PART 3

1000 replies

BigBadMouseInHauntedHouse · 30/10/2008 19:29

(Incredibly childish) BBM sneakily makes part 3 thread and places Sandy's flag at the top for a second time.

(Flag is made from organic cotton and has been dry pailed and washed at 40C)

Oh God, that'd piss me right off seeing someone sell something I had sent them for free. Did she sell it in the end?

4CALLINGBIRDSandnotout · 08/12/2008 13:47

It was on clothnappytree, i dont know if she sold it or not. i have loads of nappies im going to sort out for ffp but i'll advertise in the for sale section as it seems the same people get all the freebies on the for free board

ilovemydog · 08/12/2008 15:44

I gave away something like 15 Modern baby red gingham nappies - and 4 wraps. FFP, but didn't even get a thank you...

They were in perfect condition.

Am a bit jaded now

Hey guys

DS2 is in cloth...woohoo . It's taken us a while to get organised as things have been pretty hectic. The only downside is that he is such a big bruiser laready that some of the wraps I bought are too small and the bimbles are only going to last a short while.

Thankfully I'm doing some testing at the minute and got a load of cotton tots so we are using those and some diddy diapers and I'vce sold my bimbles and the teeny wraps to someone on my PN thread whose babay was a preemie and is still tiny.

Lots of new names on here I see; good to see the thread is alive and kicking.

Am off to catch up; will be back later to chat.

ilovemydog · 08/12/2008 16:23

Hi Daisy! We're on the same test! (detergent ring any bells?)

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 08/12/2008 17:00

that's the one ilmd

I was very cheeky though and asked if I could swap the size 2 nappies they originally sent me for size 1s as DD is in paper due to her rash problems......so they delivered me some size 1s and took the size 2s away. The size 1s are the unbleached ones and are lovely (although considering DS is piling on about 12ozs a week he'll be out of them by about 4 months). I've spent ages picking the velcro off though as I'm not a fan of velcro nappies.

ilovemydog · 08/12/2008 17:56

Daisy - Very cheeky . They called to ask if I wanted size 2 as the last weight they had on record was about a month ago, but DS is still quite skinny so he's still in size 1s!

We managed to totally stain one which at least makes me feel that we've done our job! (um, big job )

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 08/12/2008 18:13

We have poo in pretty much everyone we've used so far, so I'm doing a good job as well. I would normally use a fleece liner, but I haven't bothered for the sake of the trial.

How long do we need to use them for? And the letter said send one back, but I assume they mean one of each for comparison purposes?

ilovemydog · 08/12/2008 18:24

Daisy - I think one is supposed to send one of the worst stained ones back - then they can determine the effectiveness based on whether they get more labelled or unlabelled ones?

They stay sooo nice and soft

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 08/12/2008 18:25

oh, good, I'll only lose one then

I've not done a wash yet, but will tonight.

lollipopmother · 08/12/2008 18:50

You ladies are making me jealous, I want to be in a trial!

I put a Fluffle on today just to see if it would finally fit it did, and she weed in it before I could get it off her! So I thought sod it, she can wear it (was going to sell it as I've never used it) and of couse she did a massive bf poo in it within the hour! I quite liked the fit around the legs and it contained all the poo. Are Fluffles used as a night nappy?

AndHeaVanAnnNatureSing · 08/12/2008 19:03

Lollipop I use Fluffles as a night nappy. Generally put a mf cloth in the fleece pocket for a bit of extra oomph, but it tends to work well. Think I will carry on with that until he's big enough for large bumhuggers.

what has happened to bigBadMouse? anyone heard from her?

4CALLINGBIRDSandnotout · 08/12/2008 19:21

How do you get such plum jobs with these nappy trials? Im very very
Annvan Do you already have your bumhuggers t try for size if not i have a large i was going to throw but you could just try it for size?

AndHeaVanAnnNatureSing · 08/12/2008 19:42

Ooh that would be good - I'll give it a try. It's just that the small ones seem like quite a small fit (a bit like my Fluffles) so yes I'll have that if that's ok?
Have trouble fastening my Fluffles now, because the flaps don't overlap at the top, so difficult to get the nippas to grip properly. Also before long he's going to have builders bum.

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 08/12/2008 19:51

4andnotout....Can I ask how you cope with washing? We are doing two, sometimes three, loads a day at the minute not including the nappies. My poor washing machine is on fire!

The first nappies I did were through the askamum forum for the Mother and Baby Magazine awards. Keep an eye out on there asking for testers...I think it was in FEbruary. This trial came about as the company had my details from when I did the M&B awards. A friend of mine registers for everything, and she often just gets sent stuff from various mfrs as her name is on their records. She has done three lots of pushchairs (and made a tidy profit from selling them on afterwards)

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 08/12/2008 19:51

love the name AnnVan

AndHeaVanAnnNatureSing · 08/12/2008 20:00

thanks Daisy can't take credit for it though, as one of my PN thread ladies came up with it for me.
Yours is fab too.

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 08/12/2008 20:02

I used this one last year as well....couldn't think of anything new for this year!

ilovemydog · 08/12/2008 20:14

Nappy trials aren't as glamorous as one would think. Yes, lots of free nappies, but masssive amount of fiddling around (leaking, blow outs etc)

BBM - Got an email from her a few days ago. She is as well as can be expected. RL has dealt her a massive blow, and she's dealing with it in her typical style - with dignity, humor and putting the DC's first....

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 08/12/2008 20:22

Was just about to say that BBM says Hi. I have just been chatting with her on FB. She'll get your nappies back to you soon lollipop.

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 08/12/2008 20:23

and don't forget the paperwork ilmd....the form filling for M&B was tedious beyond belief!

I'd do it again though

4CALLINGBIRDSandnotout · 08/12/2008 20:52

Annvan if you CAT me your address i'll pop it in the post, i warn you it isn't the pretiest nappy but will give you a guide for size and just throw it away when you are finished
Daisy funny you should ask about washing as have only just had a new washing machine delivered today as i have killed another I rent mine as this is the 2nd one i have had since February usually do 3 loads of clothes a day and a nappy wash every other day. TBH having 4 kids (and 1 big kid) means i will always have loads of washing and ironing so the nappy wash pales into insignificance
ilmd What is wrong with BBM? I hope she is ok.

up2myknees · 08/12/2008 20:52

what has happened to BBM??? poor love.

AndHeaVanAnnNatureSing · 08/12/2008 23:43

4andnotout - I don't have CAT, but if you give me your email, I can email you? If not, email me on [email protected] and I'll reply with my address.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 08/12/2008 23:58

Just saying hello!

Been chatting to my sister in USA for over 2 hours...about cloth nappies! LOL She's expecting her 1st baby about 3 weeks after my 3rd is due and I'm sooo happy that she's decided on her own to use cloth (diapers to her!). She's been quite confused & daunted by all the different kinds, but I think she's sorted now! (At least in her own mind...not everything is bought yet!) But I did help her to spend some money! All on her own she found Little Lamb bamboo nappies (as she loves the sound of Bamboo) and I found someone clearing out stock of size 1 LL Bamboo on UsedNappies for only 3.50 each - brand new, unwashed. Isn't that a bargain!? So we bought all 9 of them...now just waiting to see what postage discount we'll get for buying the lot of them (as they were listed singly), but still, seems a good deal...and with the way the exchange rates are going, it's actually a bargain for US ppl to buy UK stuff (well, not including postage...but hopefully someone can take them over to her). Soooo...I'm happy to have her stash beginning to grow. ....now I'm just on the search for some inexpensive Motherease Airflow wraps - small to start with. Anyone seen any for sale lately? Would prefer to find some prints, since she's new to cloth - though depending on what I can find, might settle for white.
