GENERAL CHAT THREAD FOR CLOTH NAPPY USERS - PART 3

1000 replies

BigBadMouseInHauntedHouse · 30/10/2008 19:29

(Incredibly childish) BBM sneakily makes part 3 thread and places Sandy's flag at the top for a second time.

(Flag is made from organic cotton and has been dry pailed and washed at 40C)

OP posts:

FullMoonHowler · 30/10/2008 22:14

oh, mjim welcome - we use bamboo sandy's & pop-ins for day, occasionally terry squares and a couple of bamboozles. Wonderoo at night (got only one, so it's getting washed nearly every day unless I use dispos, but I prefer to have all fleece lined for night) and looking forward to try lovables and bumhugger that everyone seems to love.

can't remember if s.one's already mentioned (and no time to go through 40 pages..) but anyone tried the eco-bumble?

babyjjbaby · 30/10/2008 22:17

ilovemydog · 30/10/2008 23:04

Sandy's Organics, imo, have a better shape than Sandy's bamboo... but both are great.

Napisan is horrible. My mil was 'helping' with DD the day/night I went into hospital to have DS. She decided that DD's nappies needed a good old soak in napisan. I don't know why. Do you bring detergent/disinfectant to other people's houses? You do not.

So, at home with 2 day old, and DD has nappy rash extrodinaire including a dash to GPs who asked if laundry detergent had been changed . I then had to try and get rid of all traces of the stuff, and in the process had to throw out numerous nappies as they were an irritant...

Now nappies get nothing more than vinegar in rinse....

LackaDAISYcal · 30/10/2008 23:13

Helloooooo

thanks rusmum for your CAT message

I'm still here; still having on again, off again labour and getting thoroughly fed up as at 39 weeks I'm aware that this can go on for a couple of more weeks yet

I think things are gearing up, and baby is so far down in my pelvis that I can barely walk.....but those diddy diapers and bimbles are crying out to me to be used

hope everyone is well.

I could never get the bat fold to work with my terries, but the instructions I downloaded from nappy lady were vague to say the least.

LackaDAISYcal · 30/10/2008 23:17

oh dear at your MIL ilmd..........Doesn't exactly inspire confidence in one's housekeeping skills does it, when she brings her own disinfectant (although I suspect my MIL would like to )

lollipopmothershalloweenghost · 30/10/2008 23:40

Rusmum Yes hun that's fine, would you like to pay with paypal, transfer or cheque?

lollipopmothershalloweenghost · 30/10/2008 23:42

This is the colour fleece i'm looking for

babyjjbaby · 31/10/2008 08:58

isn't it a shame we have to cover our cute nappies up with wraps

ilovemydog · 31/10/2008 09:12

I give up - first the comment that I must be using a 'very cheap washing powder' and now about my housekeeping abilities....

Think I'll stick with the employment threads...

FullMoonHowler · 31/10/2008 09:33

ILMD - Mil came to house sit some years ago while we were visiting my family. Came back and after a couple of days (luckily she'd gone back home by then) we noticed that all our furniture felt sticky. Discovered she'd "polished" them with a mix of oil and vinegar ! didn't have money, so our furniture was all 2nd hand or found, but had a couple of nice antiquey cabinets, and the mixture basically melted the varnish... apparently it was an old recipe (me thinks she's got the ingredients wrong..)

lollipopmothershalloweenghost · 31/10/2008 10:00

I regularly find my mum in my kitchen sweeping the floor, it drives me insane. HER house is a bloody mess, mine is pretty bloody spotless.

I have just managed to sell a load of nappies on the Yahoo Real Nappies board that I found last night, quite chuffed that it was so easy really, was dreading writing a load of stuff for them not to sell.

babyjjbaby · 31/10/2008 10:19

Hello all! Hello BBM and congratualtions on the flag race {again!) - i am tempted to tear it down and pop up one of the new lovely minkytimes! They are soooooooooooooooooo soft

MatNanPlus · 31/10/2008 13:56

Yikes ILMD

Lollipop as they are handmade, have you emailed seller asking if any same fleece available?

Soon LackaD

lollipopmothershalloweenghost · 31/10/2008 18:08

Matnan - I randomly managed to find just 1 website selling that colour and although they are currently out of stock they said they're getting more in at the middle of November, so I'm going to get some from there, but thanks for the tip if it doesn't work out then I'll email the seller of the bag.

MatNanPlus · 31/10/2008 18:19

Pleasure Lollipop

Essie3 · 31/10/2008 23:27

Ooh, turned my back for a second...

A quick post to get this on my list.

Lollipop I've found that I can get wipes to match my nappies now...

lollipopmothershalloweenghost · 01/11/2008 06:52

Essie - What nappies have you got?! I'm happy it's not just me that feels the urge to colour code!

I've just bought a black and red changing bag, but a cerise pink wet-bag, there's going to be a massive colour clash! I'm wondering whether I should've got the red sheep but I don't like that one nearly as much as the pink. I'm a bit of a dither now as I bet I could ask the lady to change my order, if I do it quick enough ... decisions decisions.

Howler - I got the pop-in, thanks! I have NO idea what half of the stuff is for though! The big thing that folds over to make three layers, is that the bit I should use for night time and use it on its own??

4andnotout · 01/11/2008 08:55

Morning all
My 40cm bamboo squares arrived yesterday and look so cute on
I hate this cold weather, i have a huge airer in the front room now trying to dry my nappies on, i could use the tumble dryer but im trying to avoid it as much as possible, i really wanted to get them out in the sun to try and bleach out some of the stains.
I have been really good and hardly bought any nappies for a week or so....its hard to stop buying!
