GENERAL CHAT THREAD FOR CLOTH NAPPY USERS - PART 3

(Incredibly childish) BBM sneakily makes part 3 thread and places Sandy's flag at the top for a second time.

(Flag is made from organic cotton and has been dry pailed and washed at 40C)

MatNan: According to the Happy Heiny website, large is for 23-35 lbs. They're quite slim fitting, and have lots of adjustability in the waist (wide tabs, velcro strip, etc) so seems they could fit from quite early & last for a while.

ilovemydog · 11/12/2008 19:47

DP is a bit horrified by the various nappies we have. Most were from the Mother and Baby trial, but also am part of another trial.

But if you had to choose one nappy, what would it be?

I'll start:

  • Motherease Sandy's - I may flirt around with others, but always go back...
treedelivery · 11/12/2008 19:50

Big waves to every one!!

Have had my head up my bottom a bit so it's been nice catching up on the nappy gossip - although I really need a baby to get goingon I suppose.

6 weeks to go! Handed full stash over to mum who kindly offered to wash and tumble dry the lot [such luxuries - tumble dry!] and only looked slightly shocked when I asked her to do it 4 times.

Got some bambino mio [?] prefolds and wraps for when dd2 is tiny tiny, has anyone had any success with these?

Hugs to BBM hope RL isn't too huge for her at the moment.

Bambino Mio are a really good, almost retro, nappy. The wrap is great as it's cotton and breathes. Think I would have gotten better the the boy fold if I was going to be using them exclusively....

up2myknees · 11/12/2008 20:15

Sorry but i HATED prefolds so leaky!!!!!!!!!!

treedelivery · 11/12/2008 20:16

Hello ilovemydog!

Now about these mio wraps - are they meant to be in touch with the baby's skin at the sides? As far as I can see the prefold bit just runs down the centre of the nappy.

They look mega absorbant but seems a bit harsh to have the wrap on the skin when I look at the snowball spoft fluffle etc!

Although not looking forward to the smells I hear mention of with fleece and fluff etc!

treedelivery · 11/12/2008 20:16

Reckon if thet are rubbish will make amazing cleaning cloths. Not that I do any cleaning you understand.

SwampsterQuakesAtTheSight · 11/12/2008 20:18

Evening all.

ILMY, if I could have just one nappy it would have to be Baby Beehinds (the old brightly coloured ones). I keep reading on here that they are too weeny to be birth to potty as promised but DS2 is a fairly stonking two-and-a-half and fits in them very comfortably on not even the last popper setting. They are super absorbent and pretty slim fitting. I would have to have LOADS of them cause they take forever to dry but they are so lovely I really don't mind.

SwampsterQuakesAtTheSight · 11/12/2008 20:19

I think prefolds give cloth a bad name!

thebluefoxategreensocks · 11/12/2008 20:22

If all else fails tho, prefolds make great stuffing for pocket nappies!

treedelivery · 11/12/2008 20:25

I can't comment of which nappy I'd have if could only have one, as they have so far only been tried on various dolly's and the cat on one occasion.

Looking forward to finding out though - knowing me it will be a mega expensive itti bitti or blueberry [?] or something I can only have 1 of for show.

Just reserved a baby swing. Never had any 'stuff' for dd1 but figured dd2 is going to need to be a bit more self sufficient and need a dumping zone safe place to be while I run about after 4 year old.

£20 half price! Bit navy with frills in odd places hey ho.

treedelivery · 11/12/2008 20:27

I got these bambino mio things for about £6 3 wraps and 15 folds, so am happy to use them till the meconium stage is over if nothing else! They seem so tiny anyway.

ChristmasFlower · 11/12/2008 20:33

my prefolds are great on the changing table and for nappy off time, but don't like them as nappies!!

fav nappy.. Sandy's here as well (the first that goes on in the morning waiting for explosion, closely followed by pop-in, real easy (which, though very very soaked after 8 hours, contained huuuuuuuuge explosion this morning) and lovable. But I like most of the ones I have for different reasons.. some days I even enjoy nippaying terry squares as well...

(see that we've only got a few posts left... BBM hope RL gets better and you can come back with your Sandy's flag soon)

ChristmasFlower · 11/12/2008 20:40

treedelivery - I thought I had everything (a part from girly clothes) for DD from DS. But I got hooked on reusables (only tried prefolds and totbots original on DS when he was 15-18 months old with no success) and on slings, which I recommend as I have 4 yo too, though he just started school so not at home all day - slings are wonderful for school run to avoid pushchair-crashes and getting (little) housework done!

thebluefoxategreensocks · 11/12/2008 20:47

Hard one about what is favourite nappy...hmmmmm! Fitted ones, I like Bamboozles & Fluffles (the old ones!). And pockets, I like Fuzzibunz and Wonderoos (older style of them too! lol). But there are plenty more I've never tried...as in, never had a Sandys! Shock horror, huh?! LOL

ilovemydog · 11/12/2008 20:50

Someone needs to fly the Sandy's Flag

Draw straws for who's gonna do new thread

treedelivery · 11/12/2008 20:50

ChristmasFlower - am thinking sling too as live in 3 story house with the most stairs of anywhere in the world. Can't really abandon poor bubs to her fate while I wander off. I suppose.

Stair lifts for babies and toddlers, laundry and nappies! The way forward!

playschool and school a drive away so think dd2 will just be slung under arm after being unceremoniously wrenched out of car seat.

So different to dd1, must get tender baby feelings back. Have 6 weeks.....clearly I need to buy more interesting nappies to aid bonding!

ilovemydog · 11/12/2008 20:55

Tree Delivery I tested Bambino Mios for the Mother and Baby awards, and thought they were a great, reliable nappy. (and fortunately the nice people at Bambino Mio folded a bunch for me!)

When using them, I tended to pre-fold them so they were all ready to go. Get them vertically, and get liner and fold.

Will have a look next time DS uses them as to whether the wrap is touching, but I don't think so.

ChristmasFlower · 11/12/2008 21:21

tree def need some more nappies!!

up2myknees · 11/12/2008 21:24
SwampsterQuakesAtTheSight · 11/12/2008 21:28

I love XS Sandy's on a new baby and quite like them otherwise.

All time favourite nappies (so far!) in order of preference:

  1. Baby Beehinds bamboo (not tried the hemp but not really tempted to);
  2. BumGenius one size (now I want to try the sized ones);
  3. Itti Bitti D'Lish for sheer cuteness factor;
  4. Ella's House Bumhuggers (popper);
  5. Tots Bots Bamboozles (aplix fastening), Ella's House (hemp, popper), and Sandy's languish at joint 5th position.

And that's it. I have LOTS of other nappies languishing unloved now. Will have to do a clear-out soon. Maybe after Christmas...

Hate Fluffles, Minkis, Tots Bots Bamboozles popper fastening, ANYTHING nippa, prefolds

ilovemydog · 11/12/2008 21:32
treedelivery · 11/12/2008 21:37

Are fluffles rubbish? I seem to have 10!!

up2myknees · 11/12/2008 21:38

I dont like any tots bots!!

Got a applix bamboozles for sale if anyone likes them!!!!
