(Incredibly childish) BBM sneakily makes part 3 thread and places Sandy's flag at the top for a second time.

(Flag is made from organic cotton and has been dry pailed and washed at 40C)

Essie3 · 03/11/2008 22:10

Ooh, didn't check the price 4andnotout, but can do - it's clearly the place to go for it! The swirly one is great.

Hi Sponge! Yeah, life is pretty empty when my main achievement is creating dispensing wipes...must get back behind the wheel of my artic again!
Which wipes do you use? Special ones?

I use [predictable emoticon] pop-ins, and they're great at night. Very good indeed. They have bamboo inserts, with an additional slimline booster, plus a mega night time booster. It all 'pops in', geddit? Currently we're only using the slimline booster. I think we have several pop-in princesses here...

Essie3 · 03/11/2008 22:11

And Rusmum what a bummer about the pram.

I saw a woman with triplets in a special pram today! Totally impressed!

May need to put out a missing in action alert for BBM...

Debs75 · 04/11/2008 08:48

Had our first day in reusables yesterday, using little lambs.
We did ok, changed every 2 1/2 to 3 hours and had no leaks.
Found it a bit hard to tell if she was wet as usually go by the bulkiness of the dispo but LL are already bulky.
Only used the fleecy liner, not the booster.
Do I need the liner tho? She only poos twice a week so will be less staining at the other times.
Want to make reusable wipes (just spent £8 on dispos) but not sure what to use.
Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.

lollipopmother · 04/11/2008 09:40

Debs - Def use a fleece liner, it keeps the wet away from her bottom otherwise she will have her bottom up against the wet nappy all day, which is fine in disposables because the gels lock the wet away leaving the nappy dry to touch, but cloth nappies the wet is sucked up by the cloth but is still wet to the touch just like a towel after a bath would be.

My wet bag is more burgundy than cerise, not a prob as it goes much better with my nappy bag than I expected, but now i've got an issue with finding fleece to match as I really wouldn't call it cerise so will prob end up with non-matching wipes again

MrsCreosote · 04/11/2008 11:00

Hi ladies

Am looking for some cloth nappy advice - can any of you help? - you al seem very knowledgeable!

Hoping someone can help me here, I used cloth nappies with my first baby from about 3-4 months and will soon be using them on a newborn, I have some disana tie-ons and also prefolds (bambino mio), which I think may be better for a newborn than the bulkier motherease one size which I mainly used last time, but not sure which are the best wraps for these, as apparently the popper wraps are not the best for prefolds.

With the prefolds, do you just put the prefold between the baby's legs then put a wrap on top? Or is there another layer?

Lastly does anyone know if there is a difference between motherease small and xsmall wraps as their website says both are for 6-12lbs?

Grateful for any help!

Thanks

babyjjbaby · 04/11/2008 11:44

hiya all u need with a prefold is prefold fleece liner and a wrap i use a nippa to keep prefold on the motherease xtra small is for skinny babies and the small is for chubbier ones

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 04/11/2008 12:20

please tell me what i have done wrong.
just used a little lamb nappy for first time.
didnt know what or how many liners.
so put in the soft pad thing that came with the nappy, and 2/3 disp liners.
one up front one up back. leaked straight through almost instantly.

he is currently in a terry which i just dog out. never ever used one of these before either.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 04/11/2008 12:23

i have 2 terries which were in a box to be used as burp cloths, but had to use as just waiting for nappies to arrive.
sorry if i sound a bit
really am new to all this

babyjjbaby · 04/11/2008 12:31

i think it is cos u had too many disposable liners u only need 1 and if it is folded it will make the nappy leak i think did u pre wash the nappy

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 04/11/2008 12:35

thankyou, the liners looked so thin.
yes i pre washed it twice.

Essie3 · 04/11/2008 12:40

Haven't used Little Lambs, babyinthecorner, but wouldn't think you need more than one disposable liner! Just the one, and depending on the age of the baby, you might not need one at all.
When you say leaked, do you mean through the clothes (bad)? Through the liner (normal, if onto nappy)? Or was the nappy wet when you took it off (normal, depending on situation)?

And I'm assuming wet leaks not poo leaks? Give full details and I'm sure someone on here can help fix the problem!

Debs washable wipes rock. I might start a temporary thread on them because I keep getting loads of questions about them! I currently use muslins which I cut up into 4 and hemmed (actually, my Mum hemmed them ). Although I'm lusting after these! Too stingy, but they would match my nappies, and they must be so soft on a little bottom...sigh...

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 04/11/2008 12:50

Just wee and he wasnt dressed I just put the nappy on, then the wrap, then came downstairs.
Sat him on my knee, was looking at the wrap wondering if it was on too tight, so was fiddling with it, and the nappy was very wet, and the wrap was slightly damp.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 04/11/2008 12:53

The nappy cant have been on for more than a few minutes.
So how come wee soaked through the pad and 2 liners?
Would it not soak through one?

lollipopmother · 04/11/2008 12:58

No1 - How old is your LO? I think it's normal for the nappy to be wet pretty quickly, my DD wets through pretty swiftly and she's just 7 weeks, as long as you use a booster and a fleece liner you should be fine. Is this the first time you've used cloth?

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 04/11/2008 13:03

Hi he is 10 weeks, Yes its the first time.
I ordered a little lamb trial pack, and a mnetter is sending me a few different varieties to try out.

So how often do you change your little one, obviously I know when he has pood son change him then, but will admit if I am out and a bout then I dont change him that often .
I also assume they need to be changed more regularly than in disp nappies.

Would like to try my dd with them too who is 20 months, when I find one I am happy with.
What do you use/

I have just put ds in a terry, I had to look on youtube to see how to fold them.
I didnt/dont have a clue when it comes to where I position the liner.

I realize I may be making this out to be harder than it is.

babyjjbaby · 04/11/2008 13:03

was all the nappy inside the wrap and the legs tight

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 04/11/2008 13:06

Yes I made sure it was all tucked in,but I thought the wrap may have been a bit tight.
When I say it leaked I dont mean wee came through leg holes or up back, just that the nappy was soaked almost instantly.

babyjjbaby · 04/11/2008 13:11

oh it will be as long as it doesn't come through the outside of wrap it is fine hun

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 04/11/2008 13:17

so how many do you use a day on average then?

he is now back in a disposable until my nappies arrive.

I am going to need a fair amount then, not sure about changing him every five mins
