(Incredibly childish) BBM sneakily makes part 3 thread and places Sandy's flag at the top for a second time.

(Flag is made from organic cotton and has been dry pailed and washed at 40C)

Ooh, at the bias binding edging, MatNan!! Give us a photo, luv!

4andnotout · 02/11/2008 08:58

Morning all
Is it just me or is bf poo really hard to get off fleece liners? Does it matter if i cant get it all off before washing? I do a rinse before 60 wash and extra rinse.
Have just emptied the airer of nappies and they are folded into categoried piles i fear im turning ocd about it! (dd3 day, dd3 night, dd4 nappies, boosters, liners, wipes) and now have another 2 buckets to empty and wash

MatNanPlus · 02/11/2008 09:28

Will do Essie3 and BB is baby bath.

Not OCD at ALL 4ANO just forward planning, i foldmine and do the liners ready and excess in the cupboard and i rotate them.

i think that is a fab idead getting them ready to put on with liners ready and everything might do that make it easier

rusmum · 02/11/2008 09:41

i do that, fold prefolds and put liner in.

just got 1st lot of resuable wipes ready..

ps... they DONT match lol

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 02/11/2008 10:37

4 - I prepare mine with liners in already and store them according to type and colour... and I only hand rinse extremely full liners to avoid them leaking around in the bag/bucket, otherwise, well, the machine will take care of them!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 02/11/2008 10:44

lollipop - could [http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1m-cerise-PINK-FLEECE-FABRIC_W0QQitemZ290271041014QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item290 271041014&trksid=p3286.c0.m14&trkparms=72%3A1298%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 this]] help?

rusmum · 02/11/2008 11:03

4 was it ou that sent me that very fluffy nappy??

What is it?? Am liking it - I think LOL

lollipopmothershalloweenghost · 02/11/2008 11:36

Oh my God, I am so massively jealous of the dispenser!!

My non-matching wipes (not only non-matching in colour to my bag/nappies etc but also not even matching in size - shudder!! arrgh!) are held in a small tupperware, and I put over the top a cup of camomile tea with a drop of tea-tree and a couple of drops of orange oil to make them smell nice, I don't like lavender especially seeing as I use it on a pad in the nappy bucket!

Sunflower and Essie - Thanks so much for looking at fleece. I've managed to find one website that stocks the exact same pattern as is on the wet-bag so i'm just waiting for them to re-stock. The thing is, I have a black and red changing bag and I've just gone and got the cerise with sheep wet-bag, it's going to clash so much! Really should've got it in red but I don't like the red one as much. Essie If your shop has cerise with sheep on please could you get back to me?

Sunflower - Thanks for the pop-in website. I used the nappy yesterday with the two slim popper inserts, Elizabeth pood in it within 10mins of having it on! I'm impressed with the containment! I love the gusset legs, they really give me confidence that nothing is going to come out, and the nappy feels really nice as well. I nearly died looking at the price on the website though, sweet Jesus are my eyes watering!

Asur - I linked to a good Yahoo group on page 2 of this thread I think.

No1 - I personally use Motherease Sandy's and Nature Babies Lovables with a Motherease airflow wrap for daytime and I really couldn't recommend them enough. The Sandy's is bomb and idiot proof, if your DP is a bit dodgy about using cloth then this is the nappy for you - minimum fuss as they have poppers, and the stomach and legs are independent meaning you can get a really good fit. I love the Lovables because they are micro-terry with fleece, which means no messing around with fleece liners, and also they dry in the blink of an eye so they're good to have in your stash. The downside for some is that they are nippa fastening, although I actually find this a plus point as it's so easy to do and you can get a really good fit.

However, you might prefer to reduce the faff even further by getting an all in one such as the pop-in or Wonderoos, where you don't need a wrap. They are more expensive per nappy but that's because the wrap is included iyswim. I'm just trying some now so I can't recommend you anything from my own experience, but the choice is out there.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 02/11/2008 12:00

lollipop - M had explosive poop yesterday in a new pop-in, thought omg, what am i going to find, but all was inside... you can get them cheaper elsewhere. you can get a trial pack, which include the night booster for £13, but they're btp. tend to keep them for outings atm, as they're slim and fit under clothes better (well, once I've wased them enough times to getto ful absorbant ptential...)

I've jus found wet bag and wipes same fleece as the one I was getting for experimenting in making my own pockets.... so tempting, but £8.99 + p&p... that's a wonderoo or 2 lovables!

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 02/11/2008 12:28

lollipop thankyou for the recommendations.
I can see myself getting hooked on these.

I am just awaiting a variety to try out.

I have been trawling the net for last 3 days looking at them.
My little lamb trial pack came yesterday and feels so lovely.

Thinkn I will buy a couple to try on my toddler too.

Not bothered about fool proof for dh he doesnt change ds anyway.

lollipopmothershalloweenghost · 02/11/2008 13:51

Sunflower - I've just put a wonderoo on and it seems quite slim under her clothes, I like the look of it better than the pop-in, but I really like the legs on the pop-in and I really should go for containment over aesthetics! Mind you, she hasn't pood in the Wonderoo yet so I can't tell if it will hold or not.

I'm off to a christening now, I realised this morning that Elizabeth was going to be in one of her 'best' outfits whilst I had sod-all to wear! I've managed to find a black pair of trousers (maternity trousers ) and my DP came home from Sainsbury's with a top and a cardigan bless him. I want to die at the size of the tops mind you, but they do fit.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 02/11/2008 14:09

lollipop - I understand... have a Latin dancing night thing on 22 nov, and NO IDEA what I'll wear!! I'm 2 sizes bigger, but only wearing things I wore in preg or before like tracksuits.... got a whole new wardrobe staring at me (had to buy all new clothes after DS cos I ended up being a size smaller, and that was only 3 yrs ago, and got some new stuff last year that I only wore once, as then was bedridden for first month of pregnancy and started showing early so had to hide it under baggy clothes til 12 wk scan... everyone will be in their best dancing party clothes... don't think slippers and tracksuits will be suitable...

off to the sofa now, had my first glass of wine since march and gone straight to my head...

MatNanPlus · 02/11/2008 14:15

Hope the head isn't too bad Sunflower

swampster · 02/11/2008 16:33

Can I join? I think it's time I stopped lurking here and stuck my head above the parapet.

I was devoted to cloth nappies with DS1 who is now four, but when DS2 (now two) was born I just couldn't get into them. DS1 had just about potty trained and we moved house and somehow in the jumble of it all, it never quite happened.

I'm afraid I gave away all my cloth nappies. I am kicking myself.

Now I'm expecting DS3 and I can't wait to get started again - so much so that DS2 is back in cloth nappies for the first time since he was tiny - and he quite likes them.

I'm finding that the whole cloth nappy experience has moved on a pace in four years. I LOVE Tots Bots Bamboozles, quite like Fluffles, don't intend to bother with Flexitots... Like Sandys nappies and Motherease Rikki and Airflow wraps and fleecy numbers for night-time. Looking forward to getting hold of some wool longies too.

But my new love affair is with the new all-in-ones - I find the whole two-part malarky a bit of a faff. Does anyone use BumGenius and Itti Bitti D'Lish and how do they compare? I just got some D'Lishes for DS2 and they are soooooooooooo gorgeous I kind of wish I didn't have so many Bamboozles and Airflows already. And I'm waiting on tenterhooks for my BumGenius to arrive.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 02/11/2008 17:29

swampster I am very new to this.
Akind mnetter has sold me a few different kinds to give them a try.
Just out off curiosity what do you use on your toddler. I have a ds at 10 weeks and a dd at 20 months. (would like to try a few on her too)

Late starter due to not getting dh on board. He `still a bit but I dont care.

4andnotout · 02/11/2008 17:37

swampster i prefer the look and feel of the d'lishes but my dd3 soaked them in no time at all, i love bumgenius as i add a slimline booster and have no leaks

Ariela · 02/11/2008 17:50

Swampster you say you 'just' got some D'Lishes ....now exactly how many times have you washed the D'Lish before trying them? Most people seem to be a bit disappointed to start with, forgetting they're bamboo/organic cotton and so need more than 1 or 2 washes to get to full absorbency.....

swampster · 02/11/2008 17:51

Hi no1putsbabyinthecorner. I have DS2 in Bamboozles during the day with (usually) an Airflow wrap and generally a Fluffle with a booster on the outside plus a fleece wrap during the night.

I do wish I'd done more research before trying and bought some Bambeasy and Bambinex nappies - big bamboo fan here. Not so keen on Fluffles as the microfibre sets my teeth on edge and gets quite smelly by morning.

I bought a few second- (or maybe fourth- or fifth-!) hand fleece wraps from someone on usednappies.co.uk. My first truly disappointing second-hand purchase as I really wouldn't have considered them saleable - more like binnable. But on the plus-side, they were cheap and I realised from them that DS2 is now definitely a size 3 now for Tots Bots fleeces. So I got a new rainbow one - lovely and a large cream Nature Babies fleece wrap which is GINORMOUS but is now my favourite night time wrap.

BUT I just got two Itti Bitti D'Lish all-in-ones and they really are THE most gorgeous things - and you can fit trousers over them pretty easily too. And so far no leaks, either. I would like to know how they compare to the BumGenius all-in-ones though.

swampster · 02/11/2008 17:52

Washed them once, tentative try for not very, very long. Twice, longer on... three times, feel quite confident about them now.

wastingmyeducation · 03/11/2008 09:09

The kite fold, so far, is giving good leg containment, but DS liquid bf poo seeps through the fabric, as there's less bulk between the legs than the origami fold, so I guess I could do with boosters. I don't want to use muslins etc. as I think it would be a faff.

What boosters does everyone use?
Has anyone used the twooster from Twinkle?

xx

Essie3 · 03/11/2008 09:50

Morning all! Passing the time whilst the engineer fixes our shower...

Lollipop I'm off to the craft centre today, so I'll check out the fleece for you.

Shall I reveal to all how to make their wipes dispense? It's dead simple, but you will need a box with a hole in it (like a tissue box...or that pampers wipes box.)

  1. Flatten out your wipes.
  2. Fold no. 1 in half like a book.
  3. Tuck no. 2 into the fold, so you will have a folded wipe with a flat wipe sticking out of it.
  4. Place no. 3 on top of the folded bit, sticking out the opposite way to no. 2. (The pile will now be double width). Fold no. 2 over no. 3, and continue in this mode...

Does that make sense? I could draw a diagram!! What you have basically is this:

wastingmyeducation · 03/11/2008 10:00

That's very clever Essie! Would never have thought to try that!
By the way, your DS name is lovely!

xx

Essie3 · 03/11/2008 16:37

Oh, thanks Wastingmyeducation. Full name Iestyn Seiriol - Welsh, he's going to be bilingual. (And quite possibly a poet with a name like that! [hopeful emoticon])

Lollipop went to the craft centre, and no cerise sheep. No sheep at all in fact (a shocking ommission, IMO). However, if anyone is looking for fleece...
Brightly coloured cats, lovely coloured elephants on a blue background, the swirly one (quite psychadelic), jolly bright zoo animals, white spot on pink, white spot on blue, many animal prints eg leopard, tiger, zebra...
Whoever thought there was so much fleece available!!

spongebrainbigpants · 03/11/2008 19:54

Please can I join your thread? Have just joined the cloth nappy club and feeling great about it!

Also using washable wipes and have one of those Pampers boxes so may try your dispenser idea Essie, very cool! (Although, thinking you may need to get out more hun!! ).

Am using fleece nappies with wraps and three bumgenius at the moment. Have flexitots on order but getting on so well with bumgenius may send some of the flexitots back and swap for BG.

What do people do for night time? Used one of the rainbow tots fleece AIO last night. Fine at the 3am feed, absolutely soaked (through nappy, babygro and sheets) by 7am!

Do I need a bamboo nappy for night times?
