Hi all, it's that time! We're v excited about DD's first piercing but this time we're thinking of a stone, not just plain gold? Any suggestions?!?!?

Bad parenting? Get over yourself 🤣🤣🤣

Couldn't imagine causing my toddler pain for aesthetics so I vote none

What do you mean first piercing but this time you want a stone not gold?

What if the child asked for it to be done?

Or maybe it's cultural for the OP's family.

In any case, people are uniquely snobbish about ear piercing in the UK alone and it's pathetic really.

I'll bet there are people on this thread who shout at their kids - that is worse parenting.

Shouting at kids vs making holes in them?
Pretty sure which one of those is worse parenting

Lyannaa · 18/11/2024 19:09

Yes shouting at them. Emotional abuse.

Making medically unnecessary holes in children. Physical abuse.

Jillybloop393 · 18/11/2024 19:11

Oh gosh, how wonderful! Get her some lip filler at the same time, and a pair of slug-like eyebrows. A pair of angel wing tattoos on her back. She'll be really classy looking!

Its not great I agree but not worse than physical abuse

Lyannaa · 18/11/2024 19:12

Could you be any more dramatic? Most girls / women get their ears pierced at some point.

Not one person has stopped to consider that in some cultures this is the norm.

StMarie4me · 18/11/2024 19:12

@Lyannaa FGM is cultural for many... you on board for that, too?

It should be illegal under 8 or 10.

Lyannaa · 18/11/2024 19:12

It's just earrings

Total straw man argument - how utterly ridiculous your post is

I don't care where its a cultural norm and I don't care how many women and girls get their ears pierced its wrong and abusive in children and babies.

Thanks everyone! Some strong views. I'm going to research this and think again about the idea.

Yes when my DD was 2.5 she would ask "Mother , I feel it is that time , for my first piercing , don't you? I'm just vexed by all the coises of what precious metal I can have forcibly propelled into my lobes "

DD is 269 months old , just got her 3rd tattoo . Her skin, but I created that skin Wink

Good choice OP! It's not often people on here listen and take advice that goes against their plans.

KeenCat · 18/11/2024 19:21

What if the child asked for it to be done?

This morning my 2.5yo asked me if he could have the Gruffalo over for dinner tonight.
