Am I a the only person that thinks those girl baby bows are horrific?

I’ve been wondering if anyone agrees but these baby bows are so freaking HORRIBLE!! They’re so ugly and giant and makes the baby girl look stupid. Nobody needs to know the gender of your baby that bad. Babies don’t know where their feet are never mind what gender they are meaning they don’t care what gender they get called. If you really wanted to be obvious about their gender you’d buy girly clothes and girly toys which just proves that the bows are literally just to use the baby as an aesthetic!! At least it points out the mothers that care more about their baby looking aesthetically pleasing than them being comfy in a nice little hat and outfit. If my baby is a girl I hope to God nobody gifts me a bow bigger than her newborn head.

I can't get worked up about it. Wouldn't be my choice if I'd had girls, but each to their own. At least they don't look too tight, which I have seen with some headbands. These would be no more uncomfortable for the baby than a hat.

I can't stand them. Some of them are nearly the same size as the baby's head. Mot mentioning the safety risk of them 😐

My DD didn’t wear anything like that, I like big or small ones are completely naff. Once she had proper hair as a toddler she had clips etc but nothing until then. It’s horrible gendered bollocks.

I quite like wide fabric headbands and could stand a small bow on them but those are ridiculous.

I can't stand them. Sex / gender stereotyping from birth almost.

More importantly, a MNer shared a tragic story about a baby who was in a car seat in the back with one of those bow headbands on. Somehow it slipped down over her face, she vomited into it and so couldn't breathe. The parent who was driving didn't notice at first, and by the time they did the baby sadly couldn't be saved.

I've seen safety warnings about taking such accessories off for sleeping, but maybe not everyone thinks about babies sleeping in car seats.

They remind me of Carmen Miranda with the big headwear. I do think it's often (but not always) parents needing the world to know they have DEFINITELY a girl and DEFINITELY NOT a boy. I just donated any we got given.

Absolutely Love them,just loved dressing all my girls up,with bows of every colour..and usually with matching blanket for pram..nothing more adorable and baby-like...and now i have the most beautiful bows in all styles to match their uniforms as they head off to school..worry about the earpiercing instead i think🎀🎀🎀

Could not believe it when one of my in-laws sent us one for our baby - felt like they didn’t know us at all 🤣 Straight to charity. Now got to deal with being given a crop top for our three year old. What are people thinking?!

Wouldn’t be my first choice either but I think they look cute. Don’t be so judgmental. If you’re going to judge people about something silly then at least use sentences which make sense. What does it mean to “use the baby as an aesthetic”?

I know this is awful and I hesitate to say it, but they remind me of people who've had hair loss from chemo... 🙁

Aslong as your child is cared for, safe, fed, loved, who really gives a shit! This bow isn't my style but who cares.

Everyone has their own personal style.

I also personally hate winter hats with pom-poms the size of the babies head, and denim or football strips on a young child. But each to their own I guess!
