@ChloeWh that's awful the pharmacy should have spoken to you before doing anything, I d call other pharmacies in your area and see if they can get it, independent ones might have more luck as they aren't stuck with one supplier like boots and Lloyds are.

ChlOeWh · 18/12/2020 09:25

@1990shopefulftm Ah I'll give that a try if I can't get any from the doctors today! Thankyou xx

Strawberries4days · 18/12/2020 09:31

@1990shopefulftm so I guess it's quite normal for that teat? She's on comfort milk too, just a shock to see her finish a bottle in 5 minutes after normally taking her up to an hour to feed! I'll look into the variflow year thanks!

@Strawberries4days yes I believe so, the milk says on the box to use at least a medium teat so we went up to a fast one as he didn't seem to get the normal milk down fast enough. Apart from when he was recovering from sepsis for his first few days we re lucky in that his always been a fast eater.

60sPony · 18/12/2020 12:43

@20wedding19 I hope you get some answers at the specialist. I had meconium in my waters and didn’t even consider that it could lead to digestive issues. Though no meconium aspiration happened in our case he was still in the waters for a number of hours before he was born.

Does your son have a rash? That’s been the key indicator for us according to the GP.

DressingGown87 · 18/12/2020 14:15

@20wedding19 it’s strange how something clicks. Paige hated the bath too, and then one day she was like ooo I like this. Still need to figure out how to make her like getting dressed though. Hope your littles ones hospital appointment goes well, and you get to the bottom of the digestive issues.

I would love to another baby. BUT not on my own again 🙈 After all my losses, and being told I couldn’t conceive I’m grateful for the one, but I would love her to have a sibling.

@Sls668 Babies have a “gag reflex” so they can swim underwater. It’s more to do with teaching them to use this reflex rather than swim. But I was scared too, now I think I’m more scared about being in swimming costume in public! 😂

@60sPony hope you see a difference soon, I know how tiresome it can be. Does your little one have a rash? That helped with paiges CMPA diagnosis.

@krissy12 hope your back is feeling a bit better today. Have you got some deep heat?

@ChlOeWh congratulations on the birth of Lilah Rae. that sounds a nightmare, hope you managed to get some milk sorted. We are on the hydrolosed Nutramigen formula for CMPA, and Omeprazole it was amazing when it started working. Hope the injections went well.

@Strawberries4days another one for Mr Tumble here 😂 what is it with him? I find him strange!

By the looks of things I need to change teat size 🙈 Paige is about 30/40minutes to feed. And often gets bored and starts fussing or, falls asleep. Scared the faster flow, might aggravate her reflux, anyone experienced that?

FirstSurprise001 · 18/12/2020 16:28

I know a fair few of you are a few weeks ahead of me so has anyone had the dreaded post baby period yet?
I saw the Health Visitor yesterday, she asked the question if it had come yet but then said, I don’t expect with breastfeeding for you to have one for a fair few months. Sod’s law, I came home and it started 😩
I’m not sure with starting the mini pill as well as breastfeeding it would have triggered it or not.
It’s not so bad so far but I’ve heard it gets really heavy and painful 😭

1990shopefulftm · 18/12/2020 16:42

@FirstSurprise001 not yet, I m 6 weeks pp and fully using formula but I might still be a bit anameic and haven't started any contraception yet so that probably has something to do with it.

Sls668 · 18/12/2020 16:45

Can I ask what contraception people are using while breastfeeding? I’m a bit concerned about the hormones passing through? I used the patch before and loved it

Strawberries4days · 18/12/2020 18:41

@DressingGown87 I know!! It's strange she couldn't get enough of him when he's singing. Must be the voices or the colours 😂

Mc3209 · 18/12/2020 19:05

@Sls668 progesterone only pill is safe with breastfeeding. I started it almost 1 week ago until I will have Mirena coil fitted early Jan.

Going to take professional photos tomorrow. Gosh, I really don't look my best. I don't recognise my body.. need to find the baggiest dress I own.

OP posts:
20wedding19 · 18/12/2020 21:30

@Mc3209 - you are wise. We had a newborn photoshoot 12 days pp and I cried trying to find an outfit!

Im on the desogestrel pill. Planning on
getting the implant put back in my arm in Jan. Scared as I have a twin mum friend with babies the same age as Solomon and she fell pregnant with them whilst on the pill!!!
@Sls668
I had an episiotomy so bled for 4 weeks solid followed by 2 week period...hhmm not pleasant!
Thank you for messages regarding his hospital appointment. Its on 23rd - no rash as far as I can see although a unrelated issue - what is the ethnicity of your babies?
Sol is mixed black African and Caucasian. He has developed Mongolian spots on his back which terrified me at 1st I will admit!
Formula fed babies - how much are yours drinking?
He drinks 4oz every 3.5 hours ish at 8 weeks but now pondering wheather this is enough?

20wedding19 · 18/12/2020 21:44

I've used the same wording on all the bloody forms I have to tick, he is Nigerian and Caucasian!

Sls668 · 18/12/2020 21:52

@20wedding19 aww my little girl is also mixed race and my partner is African. She also has blue spots but I knew what they were. As I work in early years and have done a lot of work in safeguarding, I wouldn’t leave the hospital without them being recorded in her red book. I’d ask your HV to do the same, there’s a special form for it

SamK93 · 18/12/2020 22:17

Hi ladies hope your all well.

@20wedding19 my little one is 10 weeks now and only manages 4oz every three hours, sometimes he will have 5oz. All babies are different, they will drink what they need when they need so don't worry. I've got him on the anti reflux formula from aptamil now but when he was on normal aptamil I was pulling my hair out as he was barely taking 2oz a couple of weeks ago and was so fussy even getting that much down. So this milk has really made a difference to him.

KitKatKit · 18/12/2020 22:20

Hello lovelies, sorry I've been very quiet and not posting.
My little boy is nearly 13 weeks now. He literally cannot sleep anywhere other than on me or DH, sling naps work well during the day but my neck and shoulders are beginning to feel the effects of carrying him around for three months!
He's been very colicky, is EBF and we have no routine - so hats off to those of you who do!

Sending you all well wishes Xmas Smile

DressingGown87 · 18/12/2020 22:25

@FirstSurprise001 mine came last week (8 weeks) it didn’t last too long, and was just a normal period. Hope yours isn’t too bad.

@Strawberries4days I’m hoping it’s the colours and not the creepy voice / swimming 😂

@20wedding19 I’m FF and Paige is 9 weeks (so slightly older) she has between 780-900ml over 24hours. Which is usually 5-6 feeds 7.30, 10.30, 14.00, 17.30 and 21.00 (times are approx). I just slowly increased her from 4oz, to 5oz and then to 6oz, when I found she was finishing the bottle.

@Mc3209 good luck with your photo shoot tomorrow. I’m sure you will look just fine, and remember your body changes created that little bundle of joy!

DressingGown87 · 18/12/2020 22:31

Out of interest, now we are a few weeks in. What did you buy, which you wish you never bothered with? And what could you not live without?

Paige loves Ewan! Prep machine has been a life saver. Use my pram and pram bag daily. But I regret the amount of clothes she has, and my changing bag drives me insane. Since being born, I’ve got a car seat blanket and I love it.

Strawberries4days · 18/12/2020 22:54

I definitely regret buying a few baby grows that just button on the bottom or back🙈 sounded like I was torturing her the way she screamed!
Bath tub hammock. We had to buy a mini tub for her and she didn't even touch the water with the hammock so that was another fun night. We don't bother with the hammock and now she loves the bath, even getting her hair washed! Flannel over the belly to keep her warm works a treat too!
Prep machine is a god send, Sophia goes 0-100 without warning sometimes so it's helped that she just has to wait 2 minutes instead of half an hour, even if it feels like years to her😂

Sls668 · 18/12/2020 22:58

I regret all the clothes, especially long sleeve vests (just a faff under sleepsuits) and anything without feet in because socks are just a no from us!
She completely refuses anything sleep related that’s not a human so, at the moment, her £200 bedside crib and the bouncy chair just feel like a waste but I’m hopeful she’ll get there with those!

DressingGown87 · 18/12/2020 23:10

@Strawberries4days completely agree on the baby grows. I wish I just got the zip ones. Anything going over the head or a faf to button up, just sounds like murder! 😂 haha I know I couldn’t wait for a bottle either. It’s a case of “I want it, and I want it now” 😂 Glad Sophia loves the bath, Paige loves being splashed 🙈

@Sls668 I wish I had more of them vests. Fingers crossed she will get there with the crib and chair, there is time. Have you tried putting your scent in there ie Pillow / top? I also use a hot water bottle to heat it up, before placing her down. She use to want me to hold her finger too.

I’m going to be cautious with the clothes going forward.

Mc3209 · 18/12/2020 23:13

I haven't had a period yet, and hoping not to see one for a long while (with the pill and then the coil and all..)

Re long sleeve vests, I pair them with dungarees. Works well during the day. But yes, anything without feet is a bit of a pain, with the need for socks. I have few pairs that go up to his knee 😂 and those stay up better.

Haven't actually regretted anything significant so far. There was one novelty caterpillar outfit I wish I haven't bought as it was clearly designed by someone who never had to dress a wee baby 😬

Mc3209 · 18/12/2020 23:21

@Sls668 fingers crossed she will get there with bedside crib. I use the bouncer during the awake time, mainly when I need to put him down somewhere that's not a sling and to have the use of my two hands.

OP posts:
Mc3209 · 18/12/2020 23:22

@DressingGown87 I've officially swapped my normal handbag for a diaper bag now. Haven't actually used it as such yet, just ferrying all that stuff around 'just in case'. I am sure that time will come soon enough.

Hi everyone, have been enjoying reading through the comments to see how you are all getting on as my little boy was born on 28th Oct. I was hoping I could hear how you are all managing with Covid, lockdown and restrictions etc? We’re following the rules religiously which means unfortunately none of our friends have met baby and we just have a support bubble with my parents. Like you all I’ve been pregnant throughout the Covid period so constantly shielding and I’m majorly depressed about rumoured harsh lockdown in January. I just want my husbands family and all of our friends to meet him! We’re feeling so lonely because of restrictions but have found the easiest thing to do is follow rules exactly because if you bend for one persons then it opens the floodgates gates....how are you all getting on with it? X
