EmmaA96 · 16/12/2020 09:29

@Mc3209 Haha yes! So at first I was doing one at a time, it was too time consuming I felt like all I was doing was feeding.

After a few weeks with more confidence I attempted tandem feeding, got myself a pillow from Peanut & Piglet so they sit on and I can feed them both comfortably now!

Mc3209 · 17/12/2020 03:24

@EmmaA96 I think I want that pillow for my singleton! It somewhat looks similar to My Brest Friend one, only with a much better back support.

I really need to get into a habit of maintaining a better posture. My back is so uncomfortable by the end of a day.

Hi all,
My son is (just) 8 weeks old. Im super impressed with some of these routines, he is definitely not in one at all (!) although I'm probably not helping myself as I'm rather clingy with him too, think I have a case of precious 1st born syndrome as even when he sleeps in the day I just enjoy the cuddles instead of putting him down!
Its lovely now but I'm goung back to work super early, at the end of Feb as I can take him with me (before/after school nanny here) and wonder how that will pan out.

Also feel like I could go walking for 6 hours straight and he would sleep the entire time...the second we stop however, and he's wide awake again.

Have any of you managed any baby groups yet?
We went to our 1st (Christmas themed) one today. Not sure who enjoyed it more to be honest, him or me - it was just fab

@20wedding19 baby cuddles are the best, aren't they 🥰 If it's raining outside I tend not to leave the house, and instead just cuddle with the baby on a sofa. Bliss!
I suspect he will be just fine when you go back to work, they adjust quickly. I definitely wouldn't deprive myself or the baby of the abundant cuddles over it ☺️ (disclaimer - I am a FTM with PFB so no first hand experience, just theory 😬)

Haven't been to any baby groups yet. What do they do there?
I am trying to do as much sensory stimulation as I can at home to compensate.

1990shopefulftm · 17/12/2020 08:29

@20wedding19 my son can be like that as soon as he's in the pram he goes to sleep but won't stay asleep when I take him out.

I haven't taken him to groups yet as I can't drive and don't feel like braving the bus in this weather.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 17/12/2020 11:42

Second baby here and if its any help, I rarely seem to be able to put baby down when he naps...

DressingGown87 · 17/12/2020 12:14

We haven’t done any baby groups yet. But we start swimming in January. She loves water, so hoping she enjoys it. Apart from the getting dressed / undressed bit.

If Paige falls asleep on me, she will usually wake up when put down. So we have cuddles. But a lot of the naps are in the pram, when we are out. Or if she falls asleep in the car, if it’s been over 20minutes you can sometimes get her out without waking up.

20wedding19 · 17/12/2020 13:00

We did a bit of everything in the baby group. The leader stressed its not usually like that, more structured but because it was a one off Christmas special things were more relaxed

Things touched upon
Baby sign language
Baby yoga
Then we were given a Christmas themed sensory box which was quite cool. Think sensory bottles, fairy lights etc
@mc3209 - You can definitely just recreate it all at home. I just really needed to get out there and meet other mums!
@DressingGown87 - We are starting swim classes in January too. He screamed as if we were murdering him Shockat every bath time until 6 days ago. Something must have clicked with him though as he gets really chilled in the bath now and seems to actually enjoy it.

@1990shopefulftm - where about in the country are you ish? I drive but dont have a car currently and public transport hasn't been as traumatic as I thought it would be (although London so this could affect things) I've got a super lightweight pram which helps.

When we were tier 2 I took him 2 hours on a train by myself and in general ppl were v kind and helpful.

Lastly am I mad!? I never knew I'd love being a mum quite so much and keep Wanting to try again for another one (logically this is madness I know!) Does anyone else feel like this with their baby still so tiny? Guessing its still the hormones raging?

Sls668 · 17/12/2020 14:18

@20wedding19 Mine NEVER goes down either, sometimes if she’s in a really good sleep I can put her on the bed or something for maybe 10 minutes! I’m just making the most of the baby cuddles and not worrying about it yet!

We’re on the lookout for some classes but some of the ones I wanted to go to have delayed to a February start. I was desperate to do baby swimming when I was pregnant but now she’s actually here, the thought scares me half to death!

I’d also 100% try for another right now.
I’m not sure if it’s hormones either! We’re booked to Florida in July though (fingers crossed it goes ahead) and the hospital advised not to get pregnant for another year after my section so maybe that’ll slow us down. I’ve heard lots of people still do though

1990shopefulftm · 17/12/2020 14:38

@20wedding19 Lancashire, been tier 3 for months and I ve only gotten back into going into shops at a quiet time in the past 4 weeks as I didn't go in them when I was pregnant.

I m the opposite about a second baby, we were originally considering having 2 children within a couple of years of each other but now we ve got one baby we ve realised logistically that having a second might not be right for us.

60sPony · 17/12/2020 19:06

Gosh you are all braver than I was! I have a 3 year age gap between boys! Though a small age gap is so lovely... it is certainly challenging from friends experience!

The GP thinks my son has CMPA so I’ve cut dairy out of my diet to see if it helps and I miss cheese so much!! Waiting to see if it makes a difference...

20wedding19 · 17/12/2020 19:28

Oh I should add that I definitely have these (crazy) feelings but we won't be acting on it!Grin Give it until he is at least 2 and a half.
@60spony - I really hope that helps although giving up cheese...hard! My son has quite a few digestive issues due to him pooing in the womb then swallowing the meconium just before birth. We have an appointment with neonatology just before Christmas and I have a feeling I may get told something similar

20wedding19 · 17/12/2020 19:31

Thanks all for making me feel better about not putting him down when he naps during the day, may sound dramatic but it feels so unnatural in a way? When he is still so tiny I just want him close

Mc3209 · 17/12/2020 19:40

We had an agreement with DH before we got married that we will have just 1 baby. Deep down probably I'd like a second one, but I can be perfectly satisfied with my little boy and DH.
I am enjoying not being pregnant at the moment 😃 Getting a Mirena coil fitted early January..

OP posts:
1990shopefulftm · 17/12/2020 19:46

@Mc3209 as we re quite sure at the moment that we ll be having just one baby, I ve been considering getting a coil fitted as I can't have the usual pill and the mini pill doesn't suit me, is it your GP that offers them as it seems harder to get someone to fit one at the moment?

Mc3209 · 17/12/2020 19:49

I am looking forward to the day when I can have a glass of wine though! Baby is feeding quite frequently during the day and I don't want to risk churning Baileys out of tatas. So Christmas is looking to be dry...

OP posts:
Mc3209 · 17/12/2020 19:53

@1990shopefulftm yes, GPs fit them. I had it before and I really liked it. It completely wiped my period for 5 years (this does not happen in everyone, but definitely makes periods lighter)!

I've started progesterone only pill already in the meantime.

OP posts:
1990shopefulftm · 17/12/2020 20:03

@Mc3209 I don't do well with progesterone only pills at all so I'd probably have to get a copper one fitted, will see what my GP says at the 8 week check.

krissy12 · 17/12/2020 21:28

feeling really fed up tonight my back went earlier today completely out the blue I'm in agony never had anything like it. can barely move so unable to do anything for myself never mind DS hoping it has eased off tomorrow has anyone else had this before and can give any tips?

Mc3209 · 17/12/2020 21:36

@krissy12 oh no, that's sounds very painful. My back is generally quite sore, but that's more because of bad posture when feeding/changing the baby. I'd say try resting for 24-48 hours and take regular paracetamol and ibuprofen throughout the day, and if it doesn't get better in 48 hours contact your GP. Sending strength

krissy12 · 17/12/2020 21:44

thank you @Mc3209 I've had paracetamol and a naproxen from my mums old prescription and managed to get into bed but cant change position. my dad is coming round at 6 to look after baby to let DH get to work in the morning. luckily I already have a drs appointment tomorrow afternoon for our 6 week checks if I'm able to get to it

ChlOeWh · 17/12/2020 22:27

Hi ladies! I haven't commented on anything since the pregnant thread! 🙈 Lilah-Rae born on 19/10/20 ❤️
Little update...

Well what a horrendous 8 weeks we've had.. first week and half, absolutely fine but getting to week 2? O m g!! What a nightmare.. after screaming episodes of up to 6/7 hours straight for 4 weeks straight we've got confirmed with colic, reflux and cmpa! 😩 Tommee Tippee anti colic bottles were brought and they're absolutely brill!! We then got prescribed Aptamil pepti 1 and infant gaviscon to mix with it and my god this last week and a half it's just kicked in we have a smiley happy baby who sleeps from half 10/11pm till 7am ☺️ B U T... the pharmacy ran out of aptamil and I prescribed us new milk, SMA lactose free 😖 what an absolute load of toss!!! No matter what temperature the water is.. hot, cool, warm! It just doesn't bloody mix properly (we mix with a spoon to reduce the bubbles etc due to colic and reflux) I then get informed on a previous post that cmpa and lactose intolerance are completely different with cmpa being the protein and lactose the sugars! So no wonder she's been grisly and unsettled the past couple of days if she's getting the protein back but no sugars 🤦🏼‍♀️
8 week check in the morning and injections so wish us luck 😭🤞🏼 I'll also mention the milk too!
Hope you're all doing well ❤️

20wedding19 · 18/12/2020 05:02

Good luck @ChlOeWh! Sounds like you have really been through it, v tough.

Strawberries4days · 18/12/2020 07:33

Hello, haven't commented in ages!
Can't believe some of you have a routine! I've tried for routine naps but just letting her snap wherever she falls for now🙈 hopefully get some routine a bit later on.
I would love to do the sensory class but like @1990shopefulftm I don't drive and it takes ages on the bus to get to the place from where I am. I just discovered baby bear on cbeebies that's similar to the classes I've been told about. Sophia just laughs and smiles at it and Mr tumble! Think it's becoming one of her favourite shows.
Has anyone moved up a teat size? Sophia was taking up to an hour to feed most times and falling asleep mid feed with taking so long. Then wanting another bottle an hour later cause it took her an hour to finish that bottle. We moved to size 2 but the speed she drinks the bottle is unreal. She doesn't choke or anything but she powers through in 5-10 minutes! I take it out her mouth after a few minutes to slow her down/get a breather but she rages until I put the bottle back! This morning at 6.30 she nearly finished the bottle in 5 minutes! Think I moved her up a teat too soon? I gave her a size 1 teat at 3am cause she's been asleep since 10pm and worried she would chug it in 2 minutes!

1990shopefulftm · 18/12/2020 09:13

@Strawberries4days we re using fast flow teats as the comfort milk is thicker than usual milks but he can finish 6oz in 10 minutes apart from very rare hiccups we only need to wind him a little and he's fine.
Would a variflow teat work for her maybe?
