Sls668 · 30/12/2020 10:49

@Mc3209 loads better thank you! She got herself in such a mess yesterday. She decided she hated breastfeeding (?) so wouldn’t feed then she couldn’t sleep as she was hungry but was exhausted. I expressed a couple of bottles (which I’m not keen on as I think that’s what puts her off breastfeeding), we didn’t settle until late but then breastfed through the night and this morning as if nothing ever happened, just totally back to normal! We slept 12am until 10am too with just 2 sleepy feeds in the middle so we’re both feeling much brighter today!

Mc3209 · 30/12/2020 22:18

@Sls668 that's great! Babies, eh? Have you eaten garlic by any chance? Apparently it makes breast milk taste funny.

OP posts:
Sls668 · 31/12/2020 09:50

@Mc3209 I’ve not a clue what’s bothered her! She’s still refusing the breast through the day so I either have to feed her while she’s asleep or give her 1oz of expressed milk in a bottle then switch her to the boob which she is happy with. I have no idea why! Health visitor visit is today so I’ll ask what she thinks and if we’re still struggling after the weekend I think I’ll try find some proper help. She is still feeding which is the most important thing but just in a strange way!

Happy new year!🎉

Happy New Year ladies!

We had our little guys first jabs on 29th, he was absolutely fine in the days that followed but today is absolutely inconsolable. I want to say because it’s been 2/3 days it can’t be related but I’m not sure. He’s hardly slept all day, when he does nap it’s for 5/10 minutes max and then wakes screaming. It’s not a usual cry, more like an in pain one. I’ve checked his temp and everything else seems normal, I can’t put my finger on it but I just know something isn’t right. Any ideas because I can’t cope with seeing him so upset!

DressingGown87 · 01/01/2021 21:28

Happy New Year!! Hope you all had a lovely time, and all the best for this year.

@Sls668 hope everything is ok, and she’s being less fussy now. They have funny little ways of doing things don’t they.

@FirstSurprise001 aww hope he is feeling better soon. Could you give him a little bit of calpol to see if that helps? He might just be feeling a bit under the weather at the moment.

1990shopefulftm · 01/01/2021 21:29

@FirstSurprise001 any chance it could be the start of teething or constipation? My DS has screamed before when he's been badly constipated just before pooing.

FirstSurprise001 · 02/01/2021 00:24

@DressingGown87 we gave him a little calpol in the end last night and he zonked straight out so maybe he was feeling a little poorly. It’s crazy to think it can affect them so much at such a little age! Just going to keep an eye on him tomorrow and hope it’s not the start of the dreaded rona or a cold.

@1990shopefulftm he had the sickness and diarrhoea stuff with his jabs so has been going quiet regular because of that. I hope it’s not teeth so early (2 months old) but I suppose some babies are born with teeth so you never know do you! He’s not been showing any signs like dribbling etc!

Glooorb · 02/01/2021 00:32

Happy new year everyone! 🎊 hope 2021 brings more stability to our and our bubba's lives.

Glooorb · 02/01/2021 00:34

@FirstSurprise001 hope your baby continues to settle. For me it's always a bit scary when they cry and cry, but I don't know exactly what is wrong. Or know but can't help very much, like trapped wind... :(

ChampooPapi · 02/01/2021 03:22

Up for a night feed and keen to join your group ladies.

Bit of background, I had my twin girls on the 4th of November so they are nearly 9 weeks old. They are formula fed babies, and I am also using the perfect prep and worshiping it!

We also have two other daughters who are nearly 3 and 11.

Currently they are settling more at night thank goodness. We do one night on and one night off currently as my partner is not working currently. Even though they have only fed once from half ten I find it really hard to sleep when I'm in the same room as them, their snufflings and gruntings are very unrelaxing!

I may be contraversial and move them into their own room a little early, will reasses in a month or so as their room is our spare for the other parent to sleep on their nights off currently.

Happy new year to all and baby sleep dust to everyone ✨👣💤

Mc3209 · 02/01/2021 04:36

Happy New Year, everyone! 🥰

@FirstSurprise001 I'd say trust your instincts, especially if you think something is not right. I hope your little one is settling. If not, and he continues to be in pain/not right, run it by GP. Mum knows her baby best.

@ChampooPapi hello 🥰 My friend is using a perfect prep with her daughter, she loves her 'food Nespresso machine, as she calls it (my friend, not her baby)!
My DH used to struggle a lot with sleeping through baby noises overnight. He is a very light sleeper and suffers for it. I even got him the earplugs, bit they didn't completely block out the snuffles. It's getting better now, he is learning not to hear them (?!) and sleeps better.
I bet big sisters adore your little girls!

So 2 bloody bottles of nystatin we've had know and her oral thrush is just not going away!! 😩

1990shopefulftm · 02/01/2021 08:38

@ChlOeWh are you breastfeeding? If so there's a gel you might need to use yourself as well as a gel you can try for baby if the nystan isn't working.

ChlOeWh · 02/01/2021 08:45

@1990shopefulftm no, we're on the bottle 😂 I'm checking to make sure everything is properly sterilised and washed too.. it's just not shifting at all xx

1990shopefulftm · 02/01/2021 08:55

@ChlOeWh they should let you try daktarin gel instead if the nystan is doing nothing.

ChampooPapi · 02/01/2021 11:58

@Mc3209 thank you for the welcome, the first three/6 months are the hardest so the support here is much appreciated. It's knowing people who are at the same stage that is so good, and with current situation out there in the world it's unlikely we are going to be meeting anyone local any time soon.

How old is your little one?

My older girls are enjoying the twins but they are very boring currently so the nearly year old looses interest pretty fast!

ChampooPapi · 02/01/2021 11:59

*nearly three year old

Mc3209 · 02/01/2021 23:02

@ChampooPapi it's strange times, isn't it. My little son is almost 10 weeks, he is my first. I have to say, I am really enjoying this motherhood malarkey (a lot more than I thought I would). I have just about adjusted to the new way of life. The only thing I need to work out a bit more is how to look after the relationship with my DH. I feel like I am neglecting him a bit, although he is not outwardly complaining.

Any tips? How do you, gals, find time for quality moments with your other half?

ChampooPapi · 03/01/2021 12:18

@Mc3209 knowing this is a temporary time makes it easier i think, it really is baby-moon time still. It's important to be together of course on the baby moon journey but actually finding time for each other will come naturally when things settle into a much more predictable routine. Most babies really do get to that point where they are kind of like little machines that you can set your watch to, sleep wise, food wise ect. Obviously spanners get thrown in the works but genrally a strong pattern emerges and then it's much easier to plan adult time together, whatever that is (for us it's watching films in bed and eating....always with the eating 😆).

This is incredibly short lived this baby stage so I'd honestly just keep going with the flow baby wise and making them the center of everything, it would end up being a right stress for us personally to try and do anything together or plan anything currently. We just make the promise that neither of us will get permanently offended or take things personally during this newborn-6 months stage, we have a deal there!

I've have hust heard the most brilliant radio program about a premature baby, it's was so interesting as well as moving.
Actually a really nice couple activity to listen together too so that could definitely count as a bonding relationship thing. Even if it is with a baby on someone's chest

I heard it on radio 4 extra but it's not available yet to link so here is the episode straight from radio lab

Strawberries4days · 03/01/2021 12:33

How is everyone's nap schedule? We don't really have one because Sophia either randomly naps for about 10-20 mins or refuses even if she's swaddled, dark room with white noise on. When she does get tired I give her a dummy and she falls asleep but in the most random places like the sofa, play gym or on me. Try to move her to her cot or bouncer but she wakes up the minute I put her down! So just now she's randomly asleep on the play gym mat in front of me! We think she's teething because she's drooling so much, gumming her hands and spits everywhere. She even started gumming the teat on her bottles and her dummies. Never thought babies could start teething this early!

Sls668 · 03/01/2021 12:48

@Strawberries4days I’m not sure how old your little one is but I could’ve literally written this post myself! Mine is 8 weeks on Tuesday. The only difference is she doesn’t fall asleep randomly, it takes a little more effort. Sorry, I have no helpful advice, it’s just nice to know other people are going through the same thing 😊
