omg! ds didn't wake till 5am
hope he remembers this for the coming nights
and at 5 i just turned him over and he slept another hour; then i took him with me to bed and we slept even one hour more

yes, egypt. i could watch your video. just clicked yes when it asked for that publisher thingy (hope you won't send me any nastys!!!)
and she was just so funny to watch

Bozza · 11/11/2004 09:52

Had a good night too. Only fed DD once at 2am although she did wake me again at about 4 ish but only had a bit of a winge and went back to sleep. Think we are going to move her into her own room at the weekend. [happy] and

And I did it! Got them both up, breast fed DD, gave DS his breakfast, had a shower and got myself ready for work, dressed them both nicely because its photograph day, and got them to nursery for 8 am on the dot ON MY OWN because DH was away last night.

SusiS · 11/11/2004 10:35

Yeah but still can't get to grips with the empasis Susi - and me working in IT

SusiS · 11/11/2004 10:43

that's why i haven't tried it yet

cat82 · 11/11/2004 11:04

Good morning girls

Well, i'm still feeling pretty shaky this morning, as i almost burnt down my house last night (Full details under "other subjects" "omg i'm shaking, almost burnt down my house") I had nightmares ALL night last night, thinking about what could have happened etc I've also totaly buggered my knee again, leaping over a coffee table to grab water to put the fire out, so can hardly walk today. (sniff)

Well done Bozza Dp stayed away in Italy for a week a month ago, and normaly he gets up at 7.30am every morning to feed Kiera and then wakes me at 8.30 before he goes to work, as he doesn't think it's fair me having her all day. He's also a star when it comes to helping with housework and cooking, so i felt really proud of myself when he came back and i'd done everything all alone

Egypt-Oooh sounds scary I can't imagine you having to give way for anone coming towards a stomping crowd of mummys with pushchairs and dogs somehow! I do remember dp helping you set up your homepage, i can see photos, but i wasn't able to get the video.

Prufrock- about your test, but as has been said before, you will be fine next time!
The M1 story did make me chuckle though (Very quietly whilst feeling guilty about doing so )
15 for dinner?! Crikey you win!
Sooo glad you and Egypt can make it on the 26th.
Anyone else? Libb?
Any suggestions for time/venue etc?

Hope everyone's okay
xxxx

Bozza · 11/11/2004 11:15

Oh no Cat. I haven't seen your other thread - I will have to look it up now. Hope you start to feel better - you seem to be having a run of bad luck at the moment.

DH has been away the odd night before since DD was born so that wasn't too much of an issue - its just the getting us out of the house by that time in a morning that was preying on my mind.

Judd · 11/11/2004 15:24

Hello? Pooh up back reaching neck???
DS also disgraced himself with his first babysitter last night by waking up at 10pm and refusing to go back to sleep. I got in at 10.30 to find my friend rocking and shushing in a darkened room......(to settle baby, not because she's weird ).
Anyway, happy 6 months birthday to us and to GeorginaA's DS as well, I think!

Judd · 11/11/2004 15:26

Oh yes, and DH away the whole of next week in Copenhagen, hoping to touch the hem of Bill Gates' coat. I will be online loads and seeking much support and virtual love......

Bozza · 11/11/2004 15:34

Problem I have Judd is that when DH goes away (he has another night away next week and one the week after I think) he takes the computer with him so my nice quiet evenings with a glass of wine and mumsnet are scuppered. I'd have withdrawal symptoms if he went away for a full week.

Judd · 11/11/2004 18:14

Not looking forward to a week alone at all
Spots - thank you for mentioning cous cous (called coo-coo here because it sounds more refined with lancashire accent!) Did it for DS with mushroom topping and went down a treat!
My suggestion for baby Christmas present - Ball Blaster (I think its called) - its in the Argos catalogue for £19.99 but I just got one off Ebay for £6 (waited for one in our area to come up as postage is about £8). DD had one (stupid PND made me give away all her baby stuff, as I was determined never ever to have another baby). Its a helter skelter that they can put balls down from sitting or standing holding on. DD loved it...but am quite prepared for all other 2nd time mums to say their children hated it

Hate it when I do that.

Judd · 11/11/2004 18:18

Hey - DS played with a pastry cutter today. Does that make me Montessori, earth mother type indulging in heuristic play?

SusiS · 11/11/2004 19:22

phew, ds in bed; finally!
he was so not him today. all whiney and crying.
still think it's that tooth
and not much to eat either!!

well, will sleepfeeding him a bit later

i think i've pulled a muscle in my left arm.
can't lift it very high without pain.
but dp is great and tries to do all the carrying about and lifting.

dp finally got his xbox game today!!!
after 18months waiting (has been put off again and again...) he is completly well, occupied
might have to find our other tv or even start a book
or read through all the threats on here

cat: i hope you are over your shock!!! feet up, a glass of wine and relaxxxxxx
how is moving about?

ds had piece of pear today. had to hold it for him, because it was too slippery
but oh boy, did he love it!!!

libb · 11/11/2004 20:47

I have been meaning to ask . . . . who wants a copy of the unadulterated version of the May threads complete with Twiglett uncut? Have been in mauldlin mood today as it was 4 years ago I got married . . . and 4 weeks ago I was officially divorced. So today decided to delete lots of work on the computer, as you do. I would've had a new, life changing haircut but there isn't a great deal left from last time . . .

I could never delete our May threads though, how fresh and fancy we sounded then!!

spots · 11/11/2004 21:36

Libb I'm sort of holding back on asking, because it seems an awful lot of printing for you, but would love one... if you can think of any return favours I can do for you... arty stuff my speciality...

I just demonstrated my love for mumsnet by spending an hour reconnecting the hairthin copper wires in the telephone cable through a bit of connecting block. A bloody mouse had chomped through the flex. (turn away now, kindhearted ones) - A bloody mouse quite literally, because I set traps for the blighters after hearing one in DD's room, and we Mommas know that Mice are Not Allowed Near the Babies. I showed no mercy (sigourneyweaverversusthealien) and this little soul was trapped by the leg. Oh, I know, I know, it was not nice and if I was really tough I would have killed it outright to be kinder but instead I put it in a box (the Samsonite travel cot had its uses after all) in the bin, still scrabbling.

Anyway I wanted to come on mumsnet all day because I wanted to respond to Prufrock's driving test. Now DH thinks I'm really sad because I spent so long on the floor swearing at my little screwdriver and the hairthin copper wires.

So Prufrock...! How Annoying for you! is really all I wanted to say, but I also thought it was funny that you didn't want to tell us! How long have you been sitting on that story??

I am only catching up so will get right along to Cat's fire thread after this. {hugs} Cat, but don't quake too much, all the accidents in the home that nearly happen could fill an encyclopaedia I reckon. horrible thoughts though.

and want to see egypt's vid but veering away for now because of mammoth download time...

Susi I also wanted to say Dance Mats are Heaven - DH got me one for my 30th last year (was it only last year?) and we were jigging around daily with friends of all ages to a very bleepy version of Destiny's Child. oh nostalgia, those pre baby days...

God I really am wittering on. Am excited for all the meeter uppers, and envious. No chance of me coming, though I'd love to. Linnet, would you come to a May one next year? I have update on the job I was supposed to be doing then: they didn't get the funding. Secret hooray. I don't have to go to N. Ireland for the month.

Talking of work, I finished all that drawing job I was moaning about previously. They added a few bits on so I only just got it all done today (DD had long nap ). Big public hooray! and celebratory witter on this thread, poor everyone else. xxxx kisses for your patience

libb · 11/11/2004 23:44

You crack me up Spots! I can e-mail you the May tread if you like . . . . I bored myself with my own postings to be honest - flipping 'eck I am dull . . .

I wanna come up to Scotland and say hello because it is gorgeous . . . (apparently I lived there once but have no particular memory of it - just too many memories of Norfolk. Thanks Mum and Dad . . .)

linnet · 11/11/2004 23:50

Spots I'm not sure if I'd be able to come to a meet up in May or not but we'll see nearer the time. All depends on where, when etc. Would love to meet up with you all though

Egypt · 12/11/2004 09:10

oh dear cat, havent read your fire thread yet, but hope you are ok.

libb, i would love a may thread copy, but like spots said its a lot of printing! it's up to you. dont mind paying for paper and posting and printing ink!

judd, snap with the poo up to the neck. happened just yesterday. my mum and i had to dunk her in the bath it was unwipable!

aaaaanyway....think we may have some sort of break through. saw another hv yesterday and told her about dd's 1.5 hourly wakings and only bf will settle her. she promised me that she doesnt need to feed during the night now she is almost 6 months, then said (and i feel sick saying it) "it's time to try some cc". urgh. mum is with us so we talked about it, could i manage it, etc and decided to go for it. big time. well, dd went down at 6.30 awake. she moaned for about 5 mins then fell asleep. at 8.30 she woke. cried. i went it an boy wish i hadn't. she was rooting around for me. bless her. each time i tried to stroke her to calm her her little mouth was gaping and she was pulling my hand into her mouth. it was totally heart wrenching. i left, went in every 2-3-4 mins and after 30 mins she was asleep - sobbing in her sleep. i felt rotten. me crying, mum crying, dh saying "she's fine".

anyway, not looking forward to the night ahead, went to bed. totally prepared to do the same at each waking. she woke again at 12.15. left her until she was wailing and then gave her a bottle of water - still lying down. she guzzled like mad. yes this is the child who doesnt do bottles! then, OMG she fell asleep. not right after the water, because i left her wide awake, but didnt moan anymore. she woke again at 4.20 and my boobs were absolutely bustin. i had been in the bathroom trying to hand express because i'd left the pump in the car......got a couple of oz. anyway, she was by no means upset, not even barely awake actually, but i thought "she's gone 10 hours without a bf and i am in pain!" so i fed her. tbh she wasnt very hungry!! she did empty a boob, almost and went to sleep again, although i made sure she went down awake. woke at 8am sooooooo happy. except i didnt really sleep at all of course!

sorry to go on, i'm sure you dont want every detail, but i know some of you are having similar problems and it really did work. i am amazed. can i ask how long it takes for boobs to learn not to make so much milk during nights when you stop nightfeeds? i'm sure if i just gave her water at 4.30 she wouldnt gone off.

judd, dh is away for a week from tomorrow too. he's off to cleveland, except i am going to good 'ole naaarrrrrrrridge for a week at my parents. is there anyone you can ask to stay or vice versa? i do like time on my own without dh actually. he makes twice as much work! cat, your dp sounds ace.

Egypt · 12/11/2004 09:13

i meant "i'm sure she would have gone off".

SusiS · 12/11/2004 09:14

good morning everybody!
had actually a fab night.
if dp hadn't woken me
ds slept through till 6.30 and somehow i remembered dp telling me "you'll have a lie in tomorrow, i'll look after ds..."
guess what? didn't happen ... big sigh
(and dp is still asleep )

but meantime ds and i had a great time!
he is so entertaining now!
he plays on his own for quite some time; i might have to give him diff. toys though but gives me time to prepare breakfast.
he was sitting so nicely in his highchair today.
not crouching or slumping, he didn't lean back - sat straight up with both hands on the tray and banging about
and i also had to learn a new languange!
ds discovered he speaks whale

and poor boy! one thing he's got from me
he is soooo ticklish
sometimes you don't even have touch him and he would start giggle!

wohoooo, got my first CAT today!! (thought it didn't work)

aww prufrock, sorry to hear about your driving test! what a mean instructor
but go girl, show them that you can do it

linnet: where abouts are you??

spots: liked your description of "getting cable to work again" - and what is it you do???
you could put dd next to you and jump away on your dancemat; i bet she'll enjoy it too

libb: sorry to hear about divorce

judd: i bet enough support on here
we better get that wine chilled and the chocolate out of the drawer

georgina: how's the writing coming along??? had a look at that site and think it's a fab idea. i wish i could do something like that. had a serious thought about a topic to write about but couldn't even master that
and besides that my writing is just so boring (reading back what i wrote on here so far )

cat: blimey! you don't do half things, do you?
rehearsal dinner!!! with kiera substitute - loved it

Egypt · 12/11/2004 09:23

oh that movie is only 20 secs by the way, so shouldn't take long to download - promise.

libb · 12/11/2004 09:46

Susi, please don't feel bad. I am not sorry about the divorce although I am sad I couldn't make it work - if that makes sense? I realised that I didn't want to go through life's choices with him - even the idea of having children with him didn't sit and luckily we parted before that was an issue. I often wonder how it would've affected my decision if we had gone that far . . .

Despite my divorce I am still a firm believer in family - but it has to be a healthy happy one . . . my grandparents were married for 67 years before Grandma died recently and my parents have been married for 33 - I am the only one to get divorced out of all my family . . .

Then I look at DS and just realise not much else matters when all things are considered. He is my life and soul - and the spit of DP!

Could've of least had my hair colour or something . I love him so much it aches - big double

Twiglett · 12/11/2004 10:02

I'm sure I posted on your sitting movie Egypt .. in fact I thought I posted first with a face that yours can sit alone .. she looks gorgeous

DD slept from 6pm to 4.50am last night .. small feed then back down till 7.45am (she did grumble in between but I ignored her)

oh and ..... I'm going out tonight .. with the girlies .. I can't remember when I last went out I really can't ...
