Huge congratulations Spaghettina and welcome to your lovely Easterly dd . I'm so glad everything went smoothly and that it wasn't a too traumatic experience! (did you go to mangiagalli at the end?)

Oh yes, rosa will you have to buy everything new for your new flat? How does it work in ve, how do you do traslochi???

Sputnik · 09/04/2010 20:36

Congratulations Spag! Hope everything continues to go smoothly

Rosa I think we got our Ikea kitchen in 1 carload IIRC. We transported it ourselves, though obviously didn't have boats etc involved. It's not that huge though, just a wall of about 4.5 - 5 metres.

One thing you shouldn't forget is if you need new infissi you can do 55% tax reduction on them, and I think the same applies to other energy-saving stuff like insulation or upgrading the caldaia. Definitely mention it to the architect or whoever, you'll need a proper receipt from whoever does the work and you need to pay them by bonifico in order to claim it back. Also I think it's ending in 2011 so better check on that.

Sputnik · 09/04/2010 21:21

Tax rebate I mean.

margonbread · 10/04/2010 12:14

Rosa - I have updated my Venice thread. Ta.

Rosa · 10/04/2010 12:25

Sput thank you that is great to hear - ON my list to do is to contact the 'ufficio case' in the commune as there should be reductions on things like windows as well.....Seeing Architect on wed so will make sure that is highlighted!
Re teh kitchen we are going to lotsof conti and see what comes ot better. SOme things will be coming from Ikea more Trofast for example.....Sunny here but forecast doesn't look good !

Francagoestohollywood · 12/04/2010 10:03

Chilly wind here in Milan, since yesterday! Uffa.

I'm feeling all virtuous as I've cooked a lot this morning and put pics in photo albums

Rosa · 12/04/2010 10:35

well done I have yet to load all the pics to a cd to print off. It is fresh here but sunny - the wind yesterday was chilly though.....
DH just tried to cram some faggolini in the freezer and they are all over the floor .....

Francagoestohollywood · 12/04/2010 10:42

Mind you, I now need to download the pics we took over the easter holidays

BananaGio · 12/04/2010 19:01

Congratulations Spag!! Rosa sounds like things are moving at least. Sput any more movements on the specialist front? Good that ds hasnt had a tantrum recently.
GP's gone back now and my ironing is already piling up . DS very upset to see them gone. Had lovely picnic in villa borghese to cheer him up and then went on a boat with friends to hunt for monsters in the duck pond so he perked up .
Didnt get to meet up with Pippi in Rome unfortunately- I was doing tourist route with my parents in the other side of town. Gutted! Pippi where are you? Did you enjoy?

Rosa · 12/04/2010 19:32

This time domani ......It is SCARY to think of so much debt and I am not earning so its all down to DH !

Sputnik · 12/04/2010 19:38

yes I know exactly that feeling Rosa, but then again throwing money away on rent is not good long term either.

Hi Gio! Didn't know you could go boating in VB.

BananaGio · 12/04/2010 20:10

Hi Sput, yes, 20 mins, 2 adults and 3 kids for €10.50 which didn't think was too bad. I know what you mean Rosa but like Sput with renting its heartbreaking to think of all the money thrown away.

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 12/04/2010 20:15

Yes, I agree re renting... (though mortgage is pretty scary too )

Gio, che peccato you didn't get to meet Pippi. I'd love to go boating in villa borghese. Is that the place where nanni moretti goes in Bianca?

porcamiseria · 12/04/2010 21:17

Ciao! I am so sorry to hijack this thread, have read a few times as have Italian partner. they are going to Sicily late May and I wondered if anyone can advise a website that sells toddler car seats that delivers in Italy?

sorry to hijack but I am getting worried about my baby in Italy without me!!!

GRAZIE

Francagoestohollywood · 12/04/2010 21:45

Ciao Porcamiseria, are you looking for english websites delivering to italy?
Have you tried Amazon? (I think it now delivers pretty much everything to italy). I'm sorry I don't buy online that much.
We used to take the car seat with us when we travelled from the UK to Italy by plane. We put it in a black bin bag and send it with the luggage.

porcamiseria · 13/04/2010 09:17

Franca I was actually looking for an Italian website that delivers in Italy. amazon failed me as wont deliver to Italy. But agree if cant find one, will do as you suggest . thnaks

porcamiseria · 13/04/2010 09:22

actually have just remebered DP travelling solo with toddler, buggy and bags. dont think he can manage a car seat too! help, there must be some reliable mail order firms in Italy?

Bucharest · 13/04/2010 09:34

Hello Porca!
There's an equivalent of Babies r us in Italy, can't remember its exact name though, they might deliver. (though maybe with delivery charges might it not be cheaper to have someone get him one ready for when he arrives?)

MM- wow! India, brilliant! Do you remember Milanofam from babycentre? They went to India after Milan and found it much more civilised which always made me howl with laughter....

Rosa, so today, you get the house, if I have understood correctly? Wow, how exciting and scary!

Boo to speech therapist Sput, but glad things are looking up.

Huge congratulations to Spaghettina and dd, make the most of her daytime sleeps to get yourself ready for the nights!

Had great, quiet, do nothing but sit like broccoli easter, which was just what dd needed. Now back at school, both of us, but she's much less tired and so working I think better...will find out tomorrow at school meeting.

One of school mums went for liposuction yesterday! I so would not be telling everyone that if I were her....

porcamiseria · 13/04/2010 10:04

Hi Bucharest, think we have spoken elsewhere! (epidurals?).

This is Pantelleria, an Island off the coast of Sicily, very remote and hard to get to. so getting stuff there is not easy!!! getting us there is a chuff too, but thats another story. they dont really "do" car seats there, people just drive with the bambini on their laps! Its like South Italy, but even more so! LOVE it there tho

Francagoestohollywood · 13/04/2010 10:19

at going to Pantelleria in May...
Porcamiseria, I know how difficult it is to get to places like Pantelleria and buy things like car seats, as we usually go to a small island in the Aeolian islands for our holidays.
One year, we managed to borrow car seats from friends of friends of friends...
If you know people there, I think the best thing to do would be asking them to get you a car seat from the mainland?

Francagoestohollywood · 13/04/2010 10:23

I'm really sorry I don't know many Italian mail order services, as we now live in Milan, and I find pretty much what I need from the shops .
Rosa might know more about mail ordering.

porcamiseria · 13/04/2010 10:27

I am not going !!!! Just DP and DS. hence as I am away from me precious baby for a few days (12 )I am being super anxious. Its will be fine, we'll sort it one way or another.

is everyone on this thread based in Italy? jealous.....

ciao!!!!!

Bucharest · 13/04/2010 10:46

Yes, lol, epidurals.....(have still not managed to convince my own brain that actually my epidural obviously prolonged my labour and gave me lifelong after-effects, just because I've been told so on a MN thread.....)

Francagoestohollywood · 13/04/2010 10:51

How old is your baby Porcamiseria?
Not all of us are based in Italy. There are some Italians posting from the UK (though I think they are busy in RL at the moment).
I'm Italian, married to an Italian. We used to live in the UK, we moved back to Italy 2 yrs ago. I lived in the UK for 8 yrs, dh for about 14 (or 12? can't remember ).
Is your dh from Pantelleria then? (sorry, I'm nosey)

Bucharest, have you been guilt tripped for having an epidural?

Francagoestohollywood · 13/04/2010 10:54

Ah, all this talk about mail order has forced me to spend £££ on Amazon.co.uk... I know it's "educational" stuff for the kids, still...
