Pinco, have you got your pics back?

Rosa · 19/12/2009 14:42

Still here I have never seen weather like it. Snow that drifted as the wind was so strong. Aqua Alta ( at 9am the high point was expected at 12.00 - we had to hop over and in the stuff ( snow floating in it ). Crossing over the lagoon was terrible . had to wade through snow to terminal.( I had called earlier and they said we had to get there to check in etc etc ). Waited in a packed terminal for 3 hrs and then got the ok from Easy jet that we could change to another day at no extra cost so we did the trip in reverse and now dd is asleep MR refuses point blank and dh has gone to take pics of the snow!!!!! Leaving MOnday now as with 2 days of cancelled flights to clear we thought it best to leave it an extra 24 hrs insurance covers us for a bit of the cost for re booking of our internal flight so not too bad........Rosa wanders off to raid the freezer......

Camomilla · 19/12/2009 14:51

I was thinking of you Rosa, as I spoke to mum this morning, she said it was a proper bufera di neve there, really windy, cars in ditches, the electricity kept on going. pity you'll lose a couple of days, but that's good in a way as he proves to your dh that sun is not guaranteed in venice either .

that site, SG, is veeeery dangerous.... I'm starving now!!

Rosa · 19/12/2009 15:35

I haven't used that 'trump' card as yet !!!
MInd you as our flight was eventually cancelled I think we can get some money off the insurance comp...Paying the extra £15 for premier cover was worth it.
Easy jet have now 3 flight loads of people to get back to the Uk due to the last 2 days me thinks it was a wise move re booking for MOnday ( well at least I hope so !!!)

Camomilla · 19/12/2009 15:49

i never used to bother with insurance, just if I knew I had valuable stuff, but since having the dc, it's just worth it.

baking another cake as theone I made yesterday has gone!! actually, rosa, how do you stop sponge-type cakes to "crack"?

TheMysticMasseuse · 19/12/2009 15:55

hheeelllo very quick update from an exausted, grumpy, dusty and stressed out MM....

managed to fly to Rome yesterday, with only 3 1/2 delay, 2 1/2 of which spent sitting on the runway at heathrow... dds heroic through it all, but we left home yesterday morning at 7.45 and didn't arrive at my parents until 7 in the evening... there was even a massive ingorgo sul raccordo (and fucking police made everyone pull to the side so the bleeding pullman with the bleeding Parma football team could speed through i mean wtf????? it's a football team not bloody Barack Obama.... I wasn't too tired to be incensed).

woke up at 5.50 Rome time this morning to go back to the airport, same crew as yesterday who probably thought i had sold the girls , anyway no delays this time but i have been packing and throwing away stuff since i got home at 11 and i think i have almost reached my point of exhaustion. dh here which helps loads but we keep fighting (obviously).

so yes am fishing for sympathy here

MI congrats on the job, i think you are doing the right thing.

Rosa sorry you never made it out, fingers crossed for monday.

everyone else- i am starting to worry you have turned into bona fide stepfords

TheMysticMasseuse · 19/12/2009 15:58

ps also miss my dds loads, but don't think i could have managed with them here so all in all right to leave them with my parents.

apparently they have been good so far, thanks also to the help of dd1's imaginary friend Mr Monster, who appeared out of the blue yesterday on our way to the airport and hasn't left our side since still, he seems to be a good influence as apparently everytime a child has a tantrum Mr Monster says "pazienza, pazienza..."

Sputnik · 19/12/2009 21:29

Wow Rosa what a trek, hope all is ok for monday.
MM you too, you must be shattered. The traffic was really bad yesterday. DH called me on the way back from MILs with the DCs saying they were stuck in the worst traffic jam in the history of the world, although they were home 20 mins later.

I am still on tenterhooks re Pinco's photos....

PincoPallino · 19/12/2009 21:48

Oh my Oh mY, COMPARED TO YOUR EPIC JOURNEYS (sorry) MM and Rosa my picture epopea seems a stroll in the park, not! Well done to both of you to keep it together.

I manage to recover most of them, not all for some reasons and only by using the non free software. The free one did not find many for some reasons. Most possibly because I didn't know what to do and an expert could have done better but I am quite proud of myself. Not that I have enjoyed it and I hope never ever to have to use this knowledge again!
I hate computers even more.

Pictures of bigpippi first day at school gone though . That's devasting. Thanks god for the million wrong copies of photobox calendar that I can now cut and keep .

I hate computers!!

Anyway I have not been on the pc all day doing that I have been to see a fantastic panto "Aladdin" with bigpippi and then the two of us for a meal out. Truly an hilarious show. Bum if you can get tickets I suggest you go. Great for kids and adult. Lots of laughter.

A magnificent day with my bigpippi.

It makes me put picture episode into perspective. still when I think about it

PincoPallino · 19/12/2009 21:53

I will add some more stepford sites that deliver italian food Nife is Life and Luigi's. I personall haven't tried neither of them. Friend uses the first.

I agree MM too much stepfordism this way. It might be the Xmas or winter spirit. I start not likng it.

Ah bum I found "Suite Francoise" in a charity shop today for a pound.

Sputnik · 19/12/2009 21:54

Glad you got at least some of them Pinco. If her school photos were used for the photobox calendars did you not upload them to the site? Can you get them from there?

Good idea of SG's to give copies of all photos to GPs. We did that a while ago, you have reminded me we should do it again.

Sputnik · 19/12/2009 21:56

Also you could scan the print, no?
Yes, stop talking about kitchen appliances you lot

Sputnik · 19/12/2009 21:57

Actually you started that PP!

PincoPallino · 19/12/2009 22:01

Oh yes that is true Sputnik! But there were quite a few of the two of them playing in the park which didn't make it into the upload but were great, not perfect but more natural I suspect those are lost. I am doing another scan now, to see if it can find more. After that I resign myself. I got 70% I think and I am quite happy with it I am so fed up. I'd rather cook and keep house any day that work in IT (no offense to those who do ).

PincoPallino · 19/12/2009 22:03

I know I have and I wonder why...

It might be looking at all these present on the net or the fact that I've been locked in the house for a week with sick minipippi. I promise I'll stop as soon as we have a life again.

Sputnik · 19/12/2009 22:07

I am very lucky in that I have fantastic DH technical support team.

Sputnik · 19/12/2009 22:08

How is Minipippi doing now?

Camomilla · 19/12/2009 22:13

glad you managed that pinco, really must put ours in the external hard drive...

wow MM, hadn't realised you were going there and back in a day!!! and lol at "pazienza"

DD's been a bit of a cheeky devil all day, then she's been practicing doing the "look at me, I'm so cute" laugh and then I tried to put the 3 hairs she has on her head in bunches, and miracle, she kept them on she even kept on stroking them (well, the little hairbands that is...), but at bath time we had major tantrums, she turned into linda blair in the exorcist kicking and becoming red and breathless with rage! like gremlins, you know, cute and then scary... I thought I had a few months before the major tantrums started...

anyway, better get my pjs on, night night

PincoPallino · 19/12/2009 22:16

Well better I think, temp is gone. Still weak, I suspect it is the Tamiflu. It is a bugger to give as it comes in little capsules and the gp suggested we open them and mix it with a spoonful of yoghurt.... We did it the first time and the taste is so bitter she nearly threw it all up. So I have been giving it whole, like to dogs, hidden in food, because minipippi is a Python really in that she swallows things whole, really! Anyway to cut a long story short I have managed this perfectly for 5 days. Today was Dh's turn and she bit right threw it and the whole dinner, and pill, was on the kitchen floor apparently!

She has not been eating a lot for a week now. The course if finishing tomorrow am so I am hoping we are through.

sorry for long post, not sure you wanted to know all that. A simple "she's better" would have done, wouldn't it? .

PincoPallino · 19/12/2009 22:18

Oh yes LOL at Mr Monster imaginary friend. I love children with 'real' imaginary friends. Bigpippi talks to 'people' but has not got a proper imaginary friend.

PincoPallino · 19/12/2009 22:19

off to bed.

PincoPallino · 19/12/2009 22:23

bum do you think I should read suite francoise in italian? as it is in translation surely it'll be more or less the same no? even though I love the adelphi edition I cannot justify £25 against the £1. Or should I? Franca can you gave ma a reason why I should fund Adelphi?

Sputnik, Dh should thank tutti i santi del paradiso if he is still alive after the comments/help he tried to give me during this ordeal!! Maybe I'll borrow yours next time.

Sputnik · 19/12/2009 22:32

No prob PP
