PincoPallino · 18/12/2009 10:07

LOTS OF SNOW HERE TODAY!

Park completely covered. Snowmen and snowball fights, sledges coming down THE LOT!!!! It is lovely. Great last school day for the kids too!

Hope you flew all right MM!

PincoPallino · 18/12/2009 10:09

Oh minipippi recovering I guess, temp lower and on and off, but very weak, possibly due to Tamiflu. Bad night last night.

Oh no the sun will melt it all - I have put bigpippi snowball in the fridge for when she comes back !

Bum have you taken ds to school?

AlliwantforXmasisMcnultysbum · 18/12/2009 10:23

lovely last day of school, i agree....

lol at putting snowball in the fridge! would never have occurred to me.

PincoPallino · 18/12/2009 10:30

Only because I know that it will be big tears if it's gone when she remembers.

minervaitalica · 18/12/2009 11:08

Hello everyone and thanks for the kind words of support. I would have never believed an internet chat could be so effective in helping me to get out of the blackest mood I have been in for a long time. Not helped by lack of sleep, DD teething etc... But now you are all invited to dinner if you ever want to brave the North-east!

Anyway - I have decided I am going to try out one of the two jobs I have been offered (dopo aver tirato sul prezzo un po'). After all, as I am here I might as well give it a go properly - if it really does not work, then we will reconsider in a year or so. And you never know, doing something new may help just because it's new. Unfortunately though I will not have much time for mumsnet from mid-jan

MM - I hope you managed to get to Rome OK - I remember us doing the same last year... The fact that it was Xmas helped me to get through those first few days of sadness and then we really got used to it fairly quickly.

PincoPallino · 18/12/2009 11:17

MI I'd love to brave the North-East but DDad is in one of his moods so no planned trips there as yet. When I do though I might take you up on your dinner invites, I am deperate to try some of your culinary delights !

And yes well done with the jobs. If nothing else it will be an experience and always something to learn from.

Where about were you in London if I may ask? Are you in U, aren't you? Last time we took the ds up to the castle and bigpippi thoguht it was Peppa Pig's "Windy Castle" !
I hope I could come soon.

Camomilla · 18/12/2009 11:29

fingers crossed for all the flyers!

poor DS, think he'll be disappointed later. it took him a nanosecond to get up this morning when I went to wake him up just saying "snow", but then he said "is going to be all gone later?" (meaning once he's back from school). DP didn't want to take him, but it's only half day and I'm sure he'd have fun, he was happy to go anyway.

got dp's presents, though if I can find a nice warm cardy by xmas, I'll get that too, so got all the presents (just need wrapping though! and still no food for xmas, haven't decided, though I think I might go for turkey again after all...). I'm the only one missing as DP just rang to ask me what I want (soooooooooooo nearly said "Hugg boots" {grin]) but just said that all the things I like are too expensive, so up to him... might regret that, but really have no idea, my 16th blue blood must be really on high alert at xmas

MI, glad you've made that decision. if nothing, you can at least say you've tried.

Camomilla · 18/12/2009 11:33

forgot about the castle! when we were little dad used to take us around - always the same though, venice, aquileia, udine, which we'd then reapeat with school...

glad minipippi's better!

DD's got an eye infection, but got drops now, so fingers crossed all the LI babies will be fine for xmas

PincoPallino · 18/12/2009 11:46

yes Aquileia and Gorizia and Trieste. Lots of lovely and fond memories of these places...

PincoPallino · 18/12/2009 11:49

I on the onther hand Camo I told dh that I want small things, gave him Amazon list, and he turned around and said "thse are not Xmas presents FGS!" . So now he'll go out at the last minute, as any year, and get me something else and get the kids something else, 'from him', even though we agreed on all the other ones together ages ago. Same old same old...BOH!

Camomilla · 18/12/2009 12:00

even small things can be expensive

yes, the last minute rush, which normally means I'll get clothes/make up/jewellery I don't wear, so then I'll feel guilty I don't like the presents...

AlliwantforXmasisMcnultysbum · 18/12/2009 12:01

Wow, MI, I was going to post a list of the benefits of bringing up a family in London, not only for you, but also for myself, but will leave it now.

Is the job in an interesting field, is it full-time, can relatives help with childcare...Maronna che ficcanaso! I was interested to hear that life is as expensive where you are as in London, I did not know that. But I suppose you save on a nanny if your family can help?

The sun is shining on my part of London, a beautiful wintry light.

A couple of airports were shut this morning, but I guess things should be fine now.Ciao MM.

PincoPallino · 18/12/2009 12:02

LOl yes exactly. No my little things quite cheap this year as we all these shows I booked I have given myself quite a lot of extra pressies in the end .
Hence the wish list this year seemed a good idea. Oh well.

AlliwantforXmasisMcnultysbum · 18/12/2009 12:04

for example a small diamond ring....

PincoPallino · 18/12/2009 12:27

Or even better a big diamond ring - still a small thing !

PincoPallino · 18/12/2009 12:29

BTW I also bought myself a year subscription to Living etc with Tesco clubcard points.

Rosa · 18/12/2009 12:46

Quick post as logged in to see the weather in the UK - snow forecast sta sera and domani ... ALmost packed, house looks like a bomb has hit it and you know when you think 'Oh I have some space in the case' that tom am I will be swearing as those last few things turn into 1000. Think we will for sure be posting some things back from the UK .....
This pm we have dd recita so cute this am all the children in red tops and some red bottoms etc . AM hoping my bambini do well in the song ( Silent night and we wish you a merry christmas) and that minirosa behaves ..Unlike the UK whole families are welcome and the teatro ( huge room no stage) here has space for lots. Otherwise they say limit 2 people ) however it would be unheard of to say that brother and sister could not come especailly if there was nobody to lok after them !
Glad minipippi getting better and Gip hope ds is on teh mend soon.

Francagoestohollywood · 18/12/2009 13:36

Hello everyone,
I hope that you will all manage to fly to your destinations
Very cold here, but no snow as yet.
Minerva, I'm happy to hear you decided to try this new job out.
Pinco an annual subscription to living etc would be a perfect present for me too . I'm just a bit reluctant to do it as I worry it might get lost in the post...

AlliwantforXmasisMcnultysbum · 18/12/2009 13:48

Was going to put livingetc subscription on wishlist but wonder if i am going off the magazine...boh.

Pinco let me know about hte pancetta, otherwise it is trip to the french deli, very expensive.

Francagoestohollywood · 18/12/2009 13:54

Bum, they used to sell Italian pancetta cubetti in my local sainsbos...

Camomilla · 18/12/2009 14:24

Bum, pancetta a cubetti even in tescos and lidl. tesco also have pancetta slices

well, I did save a website with the taylor-made diamond ring for dp - he told me too!! but I know he hans't got that... ah, well, destined to live in sin for a while longer... . forgot about Mr Pinco's and MILPinco's presents.. yes, I guess they'd be Pinco's too

it sooooooooooooooooooooo cold, beutiful, but coooooooooooooooooooooold, so just about to put cake in oven and then have it with custard, or maybe chobar...

Rosa, lol, yes, I saw that thread! no-one's ever complained about flash and siblings in my days. at DS's play as soon as a LO started crying/etc the parent just took them outside if it got too loud, common sense, no? for me it would have meant missing it or live dd in the car!

more snow forecasted btw, so wrap up when you get off the plane here!

Camomilla · 18/12/2009 14:53

so lovely seing dd and ds playing together now that she's a bit older, ds is dressed in his cowboy outfit, so dd saw the pumpikin outfit in the dressing up box and tried to put it on, and is now chasing ds! hilarious!

Francagoestohollywood · 18/12/2009 15:23

at a pumpkin chasing a cowboy . Sooooo sweet!

It's started to snow here.

AlliwantforXmasisMcnultysbum · 18/12/2009 15:29

I know guys, I wanted proper pancetta, tesco and saynsbury is just fat, no?

A pumpkin and a cowboy!

Francagoestohollywood · 18/12/2009 15:34

They did have proper cubetti di pancetta in sainsbos when i was there. Otherwise you need a deli and get a thick piece of it and cut little cubes at home.
