OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 16/12/2009 12:32

Oh poor littlepippi. I thought they've already had swine flu

PincoPallino · 16/12/2009 12:52

I am here for a min. minipippi is in bed and I've got a pigsty to sort out.

Thanks for asking, Yes minipippi has temp of 39.5 most times. so quite poorly bless. GP adviced to give her tamiflu due to her breathing issues but no one knows if that's what she's got. basically!

really cross with photobox who has sent me all the calendars wrongly printed TWICE!!!

PincoPallino · 16/12/2009 12:53

this swine flu is a joke methinks.

Rosa · 16/12/2009 12:54

I thought they had had swine flu as well and holding the pipi is that another symptom ???? As long as she is getting better however.
MM well done on the 1hr of packing I have to clear the washing basket first and then pack. Last night I did all the regali and at 10pm made dh help as well. DH not round domani so I really should make a start on packing today and then finish friday am.
Forecast for Venice for Friday evening and Sat am is SNOW the one time I don't want snow is then. DH being so negative about the Uk saying it is bound to rain and ruin everything and he needs sunshine - FIne he can go somwehere else and we will go to the UK. WHat he forgets is that it might rain in the morning but it clears by the pm but for him the day is ruined.
I said we could stay here and go for fish at his sisters on the 24th sera with hyper kids who behave badly as they are excited . and then to his mums for a cold put together pranzo with no decs in her house ad we could all come back smelling of smoke ( She doesn't smoke when we are there but even the paper bags she puts food in smell )..I don't give a F**K that is Christmas and she will not see the dc she can see them all year round when she wants I have given up saying come round quando voi. I even invited her to stay one year so she could be here and see dd open her presents but no. He ranted on about a forza mentale and forza $$$$$ - SO it looks as if I will have 3 children to look after in the UK . WIth snow on the top it will be the perfect excuse for him to say non andiamo ........ ( AM Cross Cross Cross.)
Well done to your dh Franca what a star !! Are you not going to wear them until Christmas ????
Minerva I second the job change idea to consider as thats the angle I am going to take I think as I well never be back up to teh level I was and on the money I was .
Sorry about the rant / me post .....

PincoPallino · 16/12/2009 13:16

We all thought they did too but as they do not swab, who knows? We didn't give them Tamiflu last time though.
No holding pipi today so not sure about that one tbh. maybe I imagined it.

Now what I want to know is this. Who has Bimby in their kitchens? And who many people you know have them?

PincoPallino · 16/12/2009 13:31

Sorry Rosa didn't read your post fully before replying.

Gosh, who cares about the weather on christmas. Xmas it is so not about the weather but about decs and festivity which seems nihil at you IL. Just pay no attention I say and go. You put up with italy all year round surely he can do the same fo a couple of weeks.

PincoPallino · 16/12/2009 13:32

as you can see I am not cleaning but instead having a carrot cake and a cuppa by myself with you. Life is too short I say!

Francagoestohollywood · 16/12/2009 13:43

Well done Pippi for ignoring the cleaning and most of all for the carrot cake (mmmmm pass a slice please !)

I'm sorry to hear minipippi is so unwell. I hope the meds work asap.

Rosa, I think your dh is being unreasonable! And the weather is going to be cold and miserable in Italy too in December !

No, I will have to wait to wear them until christmas (I saw the box, as there is no place to hide it!), even if I wish I could wear them NOW, as it's freezing.

PincoPallino · 16/12/2009 13:55

By the way it should have read 'and how many people you know have it' [dumb emoticon].

Francagoestohollywood · 16/12/2009 13:57

Ah sorry, forgot about the bimbi. It was very popular 20 yrs ago here in Italy. Mil still has it, but never uses it!

Francagoestohollywood · 16/12/2009 13:59

Ufffaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Have just made lentils (friends are coming for dinner tonight) and they are tasteless.
I get more and more convinced that I'm a crap cook.

PincoPallino · 16/12/2009 14:01

Really?? I though it was very very popular now in Italy (never heard of it here or in italy 20 years ago).
That's why I was asking, lots of people I know in italy have bought it recently. Boh, maybe it took 20 years to get from Milan to pg .

Francagoestohollywood · 16/12/2009 14:07

. Oh, maybe it's still popular, boh! I certainly remember it being popular around "mothers" when I was a teen.

PincoPallino · 16/12/2009 14:10

I was just asking out of curiosity as everyone around me in pg seem to have it or get it as a wedding present etc. and they all bore me swear by it. So I was now imagining all in-italy-LIMNetters busy cooking away on the bimby .

PincoPallino · 16/12/2009 14:11

mind you I saw it in action and it seems to do a lot of things in less time and less mess.

PincoPallino · 16/12/2009 14:11

what a boring convo is this? apologies.

Francagoestohollywood · 16/12/2009 14:18

!
It's very expensive, isn't it? At the moment I'd be more tempted to invest that kind of money in something a bit more frivolous. Fuck the cooking I say

Sputnik · 16/12/2009 14:27

Oh god I second that emotion.
DD volunteered me to make pizzas for her class party, thanks DD. Now I have to go and do them, I have an english lesson to prepare. I am so not a baking person.
Better go and do it.....

Francagoestohollywood · 16/12/2009 14:31

I don't envy you sputnik ... can't you buy the dough from the panettiere???

Camomilla · 16/12/2009 14:34

sorry to hear minipippi's ill still... better this week then next though. and now I'm going to have to make a cake che mi hai fatto venire l'acquolina in bocca...

franca, can I borrow your DH? I was sooooo tempted to ask for them after trying them on the other day, but I think there'll be an uxoricidio in Camo's house if I got another pair of boots

Rosa, hey, they've forcasted snow here too, so DH'll have a proper white xmas . soooooo understand the nonna dilemma...

well done MM!!

went out earlier, and it started snowing, and don't want to go out again! but dp's at work so have to go pick DS up (and DD's bound to fall asleep any minute so I'll have to wake her up (she's been in bed for over an hour, but singing and playing with the blinds...)

anyone been to the winter wonderland yet? is it worth it?

Camomilla · 16/12/2009 14:35

oh, forgot, no, never heard of bimby! and my mum's got all sort of cooking gadgets, that must be the only thing she hasn't!

Camomilla · 16/12/2009 14:36

sputnik, it's just cos your pizzas are amazing

PincoPallino · 16/12/2009 14:38

Oh I fainted when I was told the price. No way I'd buy it, I can think of a million of better and far more frivolous things to do with that kind of money. However if I happen to step into one by chance I might be extremely grateful : it will mean more migella menus in half the time.

To clarify I wasn't asking because of the thing itself but more as a study on cultural differences. Questions for you to answer are:

  1. Why in your opinion is bimby so popular in italy and not here (could be not in my circles here, boh)
  2. Why the italian obsession with Lysoform? Is it a better product? What could you compare it with in the uk? (question arises because my mum mentions it often, rosa did once here and then I saw it at the weekend on sale at the italian shop amidst the mulino bianco and the pandoro !)

I might come up with more in a min. (Can you tell I have been indoors far too long????)

Sputnik · 16/12/2009 14:41

No I never make pizza, DH does sometimes. I got the dough ready made already. Maybe I should say I didn't get the message and send her with crisps.

Forgot to day Rosa sounds like you DH IBVU. The whole point of xmas day is not to go out of the door all day, no?

Pinco hope Minipinco is better soon.

Do you think discussing Tom and Jerry films on Youtube would make a good english lesson?

Camomilla · 16/12/2009 14:42

will think about the questions, I sometimes have these moments too... off to (as predicted) wake DD up for the school run... so, she slept 10 mins and will have a hell afternoon
