Hi, hope you find this thread. The old one was too big.
Varifocals eh? Not sure I'd fancy that.
DP took me out to lunch today, to The Ivy. Twas really nice, good food and service, great decor, lovely stained glass windows. I only saw one sleb - Trisha Goddard with (I presume) her daughter.
I had seared scallops with bacon, followed by the rib-eye with chips and creamed spinach (with too much nutmeg in it).
It's been a funny old week. The house is a tip because I've hardly been in it (except to catch up on sleep). We're off on holiday on Saturday morning and I've organised nothing. Gulp!

Insanity?

LyraSilvertongue · 23/02/2010 22:41

For love. For the love of Myoooooze.

I got dd in at the hairdresser today - she went for a really short pixie type cut.

Have set the alarm for 5:30am as we have to leave at 6:30am to get her to school on time for her big adventure tomorrow.

LyraSilvertongue · 23/02/2010 22:46

Is she excited?

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 23/02/2010 22:46

And shouldn't you be in bed if you've got such an early start?

OP posts:
ghostofoggs · 23/02/2010 22:49

Yes very, but also scared/anxious.

She'll have a whale of a time once she sets off but it's fear of the unknown, so we've prepped her for all eventualities

ghostofoggs · 23/02/2010 22:51

Should be in bed, yes. Will be making my way there imminently.
It's started to snow outside.

LyraSilvertongue · 23/02/2010 22:59

More snow?
I'd do almost anything to get spring here now. I'm so sick of being cold.

OP posts:
ghostofoggs · 23/02/2010 23:08

I'm fed up too. Couldn't even give dd a bath before her trip.
Must. Sleep.
Nighty night.

Berrie · 24/02/2010 08:03

Did she get off OK Oggs?

Lyra you are a nutter! To think that any of us could get a bit obsessive about something eh?

Berrie · 24/02/2010 08:13

My back is a bit better thanks. I am trying to go to work this morning. It's only 2 hours so I should be ok. I'm all dosed up

ghostofoggs · 24/02/2010 08:33

Dd is now off on her adventure! It carried on snowing during the night so we were worried that we wouldn't get her out. We left at 6:15 and just made it.

Still snowing here so God knows what will happen if it hasn't cleared by Friday.
If it carries on as it is doing now we will be stuck here again.
As it is, Dh needs more hay but will not be able to make it out in the truck.
Haven't prepared so will have to make do with what food we have in

LyraSilvertongue · 24/02/2010 09:07

What will happen to DD if you get snowed in?
Berrie, you call me obsessive but really, there are far worse. I've been on the Muse forum for a while now and there are some seriously dedicated fans, some who will fly round the world following them from gig to gig

OP posts:
ghostofoggs · 24/02/2010 11:11

You don't do too badly yourself Lyra .

Other than all the bands I get to see at the Festivals (which doesn't really count 'cos it doesn't cost me anything anyway) I think the only other band I've actually paid to see was Adam and the Ants .
'Twas many, many, many moons ago

Hoping that the snow will be gone by Friday. Dh has gone off with a neighbour for supplies. (He'd run out of wine and chocolate)

Berrie · 24/02/2010 11:42

Woo Hoo, that's £50 (less NI and pension) in the bag! back bloody hurts though.

Off to get my lumbar support this afternoon.
Any chance of a dd hair picture Oggs?

The last live band I saw were The Smyths. I had a great time! Lyra, are Muse headlining at Glastonbury? Will you go? Do you 'do' mud?

LyraSilvertongue · 24/02/2010 12:14

Wow, I'm so
I would have loved to have seen The Smiths and Adam and the Ants.
Yes, Muse are headlining Glastonbury but I'll only go if my sister can get a free pass. Also I'd feel builty because I'm already abandoning my family for two weekends in the summer. Glasto would make it three.
they're also headlining T in the Park in Scotland and a bunch of other festivals around the world.
What I don't get is how a band can sell out stadiums worldwide and headline huge festivals and yet their last single only got to number 47 in the charts.

LyraSilvertongue · 24/02/2010 12:18

In the last 20 or so years I have seen:

Muse (will be x4 by Sept 2010)
Biffy Clyro
Kaiser Chiefs x2
Red Hot Chili peppers x3
U2
Elbow
Faith No More
Nirvana x2
Vampire Weekend
Soundgarden
Blur
Neds Atomic Dustbin
Pop Will Eat Itself
Metallica
Oasis
Bon Jovi
Friendly Fires
Sisters of Mercy
Beastie Boys
Smashing Pumpkins
Manic Street Preachers
Jesus Jones x2
Suede
The Big Pink

I intend to add to this list in 2010.

Berrie · 24/02/2010 12:23

The Smyths not the Smiths! It wasn't that long ago!

LyraSilvertongue · 24/02/2010 12:26

The Smyths? Tribute band?

OP posts:
ghostofoggs · 24/02/2010 14:13

Ack! You actually paid to see U2

I'm not a big music fan. I prefer a good audiobook

ghostofoggs · 24/02/2010 14:15

Sorry Berrie. Dd's haircut will have to wait. I haven't taken any photos yet.

Berrie · 24/02/2010 14:59

Yes a tribute band.
I am now sporting an attractive beige corset!
Just off to collect ds. Am expecting lots of admiring glances!

LyraSilvertongue · 24/02/2010 16:03

Now, I know I told you about U2.
I'm not much of a fan but a friend had a spare ticket so I went for the experience. They do put on a good show.
Is the corset helping, Berrie?

OP posts:
Berrie · 24/02/2010 16:17

No it isn't.
I think I'll have another big fat pain killer. That'll do the trick.

LyraSilvertongue · 24/02/2010 18:05

Maybe it will take a while before you feel the benefit.
