Hi, hope you find this thread. The old one was too big.
Varifocals eh? Not sure I'd fancy that.
DP took me out to lunch today, to The Ivy. Twas really nice, good food and service, great decor, lovely stained glass windows. I only saw one sleb - Trisha Goddard with (I presume) her daughter.
I had seared scallops with bacon, followed by the rib-eye with chips and creamed spinach (with too much nutmeg in it).
It's been a funny old week. The house is a tip because I've hardly been in it (except to catch up on sleep). We're off on holiday on Saturday morning and I've organised nothing. Gulp!

ghostofoggs · 15/02/2010 15:54

It's only day 1 of three here ad we've had tears already .
Off to the shops tomorrow as dd needs shoes, jacket, trainers, fleeces etc etc..

Berrie · 15/02/2010 15:59

Better do the old shoe run tomorrow too. Better than staying in though. We baked some cherry and chocolate cookies this morning. and went for a short bike ride this afternoon. I had to carry/drag dd's bike on all the hilly bits (which is most of the walk) and now my back is hurting.

I am flabbergasted that I was actually looking forward to half term.

MattBellamysMuse · 15/02/2010 16:18

How can you be bored of half term already?! It's only just started
we've had a nice day so far. The boys got into bed with me this morning and we read Horrid Henry stories. Then they played Lego while I read and we've just been swimming.
Tomorrow the boys have their first ever photo shoot, for a local photographer who's expanding her portfolio. They won't get paid but we'll get copies of the pics. They've even got a 'stylist' who'll be doing all their clothes etc. DS1 is a poser so he'll be fine but I'm worried DS2 will hide his face in my skirt and refuse to be photographed.
dp is off work on Thursday and Friday so we'll prob take the boys to Legoland or something if it's not freezing/raining.
What are your plans for the week?

Berrie · 15/02/2010 17:47

I'm not bored of it, just sick of the kids!

Swimming tomorrow I think. We are at a friend's for lunch on Wednesday and DD has a haircut on Thursday. I'd like to take them to the local museum one day...I think I need some better plans!

ghostofoggs · 16/02/2010 09:00

Are you lot off all week then? Dd goes back to school on Thursday.

Berrie · 16/02/2010 09:34

Yes all week.
Strange you are up there!

We're off to look for the Museum Mill's cat's kittens now Probably pizza for lunch. Mind you we are stuffed up with pancakes from breakfast! Are your kids ALWAYS hungry? They say they are hungry once every 10 minutes. It's driving me insane!

MattBellamysMuse · 16/02/2010 09:44

We're off all week.
Photo shoot at 10.30. Wish us luck! I had to comb through ds2's hair, which is never fun for either of us.

MattBellamysMuse · 16/02/2010 13:52

We're back and it went brilliantly! DS1 was a natural, as I knew he would be, and even DS2 relaxed into it. They dressed them in all these gorgeous clothes and they danced around to loud music and posed with microphones and instruments. I'll post some pics I took later. I can get copies of some of the professional shots next week.
Now we're off out to buy Lego Indiana Jones Wii game, which I promised them I'd buy if they did well this morning. Don't really fancy going out again though, it's cold and raining.

Berrie · 16/02/2010 16:36

That sounds like great fun Lyra. let us know when the pictures are up.

We went to two museums today and had lunch in town. (not pizza in the end - baked potato for me and pasta for the kids) Dd had her face painted like a pink cat and drew lots of attention around town which she loves. I bought her some VILE purple shoes. They were the best Clarks had and since she was now a size 10 and wearing size 8 1/2 I felt I had no option.

ghostofoggs · 16/02/2010 19:01

How did it go Lyra?

Have been out all day. Only got back an hour ago.

MattBellamysMuse · 16/02/2010 19:02

I've created an album on Facebook of my pics from the shoot. Putting photos on MN is too much of a faff. They're uploading now so should be done in a few minutes.
We didn't buy the Wii games in the end. We went to the pet shop instead because we could park directly outside and bought two goldfish, now named Ronnie and Percy by the boys.

MattBellamysMuse · 16/02/2010 19:04

It was fab (see post at 13.52). Photos uploading to Facebook as we speak.
I'm hoping the boys can get some modelling work out of this (remember my failed attempt a couple of years ago?)
If they enjoy it why not make a bit of money from it? DS1 asked when we could go and do it again. He loved it

Berrie · 17/02/2010 08:31

That looks like fun Lyra, no wonder they enjoyed themselves so much.
Off to Docs this morning to get my results if they are in.

MattBellamysMuse · 17/02/2010 09:19

Is this your liver function test? Are you worried?

Berrie · 17/02/2010 09:27

No not worried. Dh's showed that his liver was having to work hard to deal with the alcohol. It should return to normal within 3 weeks of no drinking. His cholesterol was also very high and that should take 3 months.
My brother has found that his liver is intolerent to any alcohol and he can't drink any more.
Even if my test is clear, I am still drinking way over 14 units and consequently at risk of heart disease, stroke, cancer etc.I can't see it makes much difference what it says - I need to cut down.

MattBellamysMuse · 17/02/2010 09:29

So how much do you drink in a day?

Berrie · 17/02/2010 09:42

About 4 glasses of wine. Put it this way, I don't drink the last glass or so in the bottle.

Berrie · 17/02/2010 09:43

I make that 40 - 45 units a week.

MattBellamysMuse · 17/02/2010 09:56

With no nights off? Does dh drink about the same?

Berrie · 17/02/2010 10:11

No, dh drinks twice as much.
Few nights off.

Berrie · 17/02/2010 10:15

Are you shocked?

MattBellamysMuse · 17/02/2010 10:19

Not at all. That doesn't sound like a massive amount to me. Well actually dh's is a bit excessive but yours sounds fairly reasonable. Not what's recommended but they just made up the alcohol guidelines, they're not really based on anything. You can safely ignore the whole units thing.

Berrie · 17/02/2010 11:13

My alcohol sensitive enzyme was at the top of the normal range at 50. Dh's was 160.

We have not drunk since the weekend and I guess I'll keep dh company in not drinking until he goes for his next test.

We bought a treadmill last week. I can't walk fast enough outside with the kids and I don't like to wander the streets in the dark after they've gone to bed on my own. I have dead time with the kids from 6.30 am until school and from home time until tea time so hopefully I will be able to get fitter. Trouble is I've overdone it and was in agony yesterday. I need to take it a bit more gently once I feel better again. If I stopped stuffing myself I might even get thinner.

ghostofoggs · 17/02/2010 14:34

I didn't get any actual numbers when I had my test, just that it was reassuringly normal.

How do you feel about it?

ghostofoggs · 17/02/2010 14:35

I desperately need to rein in my eating.
