Hi, hope you find this thread. The old one was too big.
Varifocals eh? Not sure I'd fancy that.
DP took me out to lunch today, to The Ivy. Twas really nice, good food and service, great decor, lovely stained glass windows. I only saw one sleb - Trisha Goddard with (I presume) her daughter.
I had seared scallops with bacon, followed by the rib-eye with chips and creamed spinach (with too much nutmeg in it).
It's been a funny old week. The house is a tip because I've hardly been in it (except to catch up on sleep). We're off on holiday on Saturday morning and I've organised nothing. Gulp!

Still got snow Berrie?

Berrie · 22/02/2010 07:37

Nah it melted almost straight away. I didn't mind much since my back has gone. It hurt so much that I was sick last night and the mega strong painkillers made me too flippy to sleep properly. I'm not going to work today. Dh is very very stressed and angry (not at me). It's all a bit grim.

ghostofoggs · 22/02/2010 08:38

Hope things pick up for you soon.
Are the kids back at school now?

Berrie · 22/02/2010 09:49

Yes they started back today.
I am waiting for the Doctor to ring so I can get some of the drugs I was taking for my headaches. I stopped taking them because my head has been fine but I think they were helping my back. He is supposed to have rung by now though. I'd better ring school on my mobile I think. I don't really want to tell them it's my back as ...Doctor rang! Drugs on their way to the chemist. Now I'm really going to be monged out.
Oh yes, don't want to admit it's my back as I want them to think I won't be letting them down on that front again. Ah well...better ring them now and 'fess up.

ghostofoggs · 22/02/2010 10:03

Hope the tabs help with your back.
Have you been back to the Doctor/Consultant with it? Is it really any better since you had the op?

Bugger. Tried to phone the hairdressers to get dd an appt before she goes away but they are closed today. I bet I won't be able to get her one now

Berrie · 22/02/2010 10:13

Where is she going again? How long for?

How is the not drinking going?

ghostofoggs · 22/02/2010 10:16

Not again. She's not been yet. Goes on Wed with school. Back Friday. First time away.

Not drinking is going great !!! I only started last night

Berrie · 22/02/2010 10:19

No I mean tell me again! Where is she going?

ghostofoggs · 22/02/2010 10:20

Edinburgh

ghostofoggs · 22/02/2010 10:22

Gah! Have finished breakfast so must go and work. No sodding running water again. Loads of washing up and washing needing doing.

ghostofoggs · 22/02/2010 10:32

DT. Chips. What more could a middle aged overweight stalker woman want???

Berrie · 22/02/2010 10:39

Will look in a mo...can't hear while the hooverin g is being done.

Berrie · 22/02/2010 10:42

Hold on...first time I looked it was a new Dr Who trailer Now it is DT and a chip (which makes more sense)

ghostofoggs · 22/02/2010 20:31

Have just managed to totally depress myself

Collected three sacks of clothes that a friend has been storing for me.. for about 11 years...
.

Dd nearly wet herself when I held up these tiny scraps of material against my huge hulking bulk.

How did I ever wear a size 8? There is a pair of hot pants indecently cut off jeans that wouldn't even go around one thigh now.

Loads of lovely fluttery minidresses, hippie type things etc etc. I gave up a quarter of the way through the first bag.

Berrie · 23/02/2010 09:09

Oh Ogglet, we all have bags like that. (maybe not size 8)
Get rid and forget about them.

Off to the physio in a bit. We won't do any physio I don't think as it hurts too much. I just want someone to fix me

ghostofoggs · 23/02/2010 09:51

Is it a good physio? Can you talk to them and are they sympathetic?
Hope it goes well and your back feels a bit (lot) better.

Berrie · 23/02/2010 11:53

My Physio is brilliant. She is the one who finally got me an MRI. She gave me some electro therapy and I've got to go back for the next 2 weeks twice a week to have that. I also have to go and get a lumbar support tomorrow. She said people do sometimes have a severe inflammatory response to the surgery.
Now for some more drugs and a snooze if dd'll let me!

Berrie · 23/02/2010 15:55

Yikes, starting to snow again.

LyraSilvertongue · 23/02/2010 17:01

I've hardly left the house over the last few days. The weather's been wet and freezing. It doesn't get much worse than that.
So I've been staying in with Edward and Bella. They're just off on their honeymoon (sigh).
I just booked Eurostar tickets for Paris in June so it looks like I'm really going

OP posts:
ghostofoggs · 23/02/2010 19:14

What's this Lyra? Paris in the springtime? Have I missed something?

Your physio sounds ideal Berrie. Did you manage to get a rest?

Berrie · 23/02/2010 19:37

I don't know about Paris either I don't think.

No, no snooze this afternoon. I really look forward to my lovely sleeps at night now I'm off the booze though.

LyraSilvertongue · 23/02/2010 20:48

Is your back any better this evening, Berrie?
You ladies have short memories. I'm sure I told you I'd rashly bought a ticket to see Muse (on my own ) at the Stade de France.
I now have a standing ticket and a Eurostar ticket. Just need to find a hotel now. I've never been abroad on my own before. But I'll have 70,000 other Muse fans for company . The train will be full of them. Maybe we could organise a sing-along

OP posts:
ghostofoggs · 23/02/2010 21:07

Pfft! Short memory my not inconsiderable arse! You never bloody mentioned it!

How many times will you have seen them?

LyraSilvertongue · 23/02/2010 22:26

I did, I tell you!
Paris will be the second time, then twice at Wembley Stadium in September.
Should have been three times in September including Manchester on my birthday (stoopid holiday..grrr...)
I may have to find a way to fit a few more in, despite not having an income any more

OP posts:
LyraSilvertongue · 23/02/2010 22:34

Ok, maybe I didn't mention it, having looked back at the thread
So, yeah. Paris on my own. Why am I doing this again?
