No no I've not started yet. Am going out tonight to a friends. Our mutual friend who lives in Uganda is back for a wedding this week so we are all getting together to see her.
Do you have a sewing machine?
Have you looked on e bay?

Looked on Ebay but couldn't see anything.

I had the sewing machine idea too so am now looking for patterns instead.

Have a nice time tonight.

Have you conquered the clothing mountain yet Lyra?

I sorted out two of the enormous piles. The other I hid in the bottom of the wardrobe
I feel like I've put back on a few pounds so I'm laying off the wine for a bit. Drinking rum and diet coke (caffeine free), with a dash of lime juice, instead. It's actually very nice.
Oggs, there must be an online shop you can get trousers from. What specifically are you looking for and what's your budget? I'll have a look for you.

One of you needs to promise to read the Mortal Instruments books or I'll bet in a huff

I'll have a look at these 'Mortal Instruments' books but I won't be able to buy any for a while. I've just bought the first four books in The Vampire Diaries series. More teen vampire angst .

Trousers... I'm just after some simple cotton/linen hippyish/ethnicish loose ones with drawstring, tie or elastic waist.
But they need to be big and cheap. Long too. Under £20. Inc postage if poss.
I've actually been thinking of looking at some salwar kameez... what was that shop Berrie linked to?

Oh. I'm wrong. The salwar kameez is the top bit not the trousers.

Or is it both?

No idea, but the stuff on Berrie's link was very cheap.
Funnily enough, the Mortal Instruments features teen vampires, werewolves, faeries, warlocks and, most importantly, Shadowhunters, who are part human, part Angel.
One of the main characters is a 17-year-old charming, charismatic, good-looking blond called Jace Wayland. He could give Edward Cullen a run for his money.

I got them from the library, from the Young Adult section

And please, please don't ever buy elasticated waist trousers. They are for old people. I refused to wear them even when pregnant. It would be like wearing jeans with no back pockets!

Is this the sort of thing you're after?

Report
LyraSilvertongue · 24/06/2009 22:59

Maybe these? They certainly look loose.

Report
LyraSilvertongue · 24/06/2009 23:03

I may buy these myself

Report
LyraSilvertongue · 24/06/2009 23:07

Good selection here. And reasonably priced.

oggsfrog · 25/06/2009 07:02

Sorry Lyra. I have to disagree on the elastic in the waistband. A lot of hippie type/traidcraft/fairtrade/one size/nepalese/thai trousers have elastic.

Give me comfort over style anyday

I don't think that the trousers on my site would be any good. The Shalwar Kamez trousers would fit a bus and are really oddly shaped. I'll look for you when I get a mo though.

The patchwork and tie dye ones are just hideous and those Aladdin pants are just plain odd. I do like the Thai wrap pants but they look somewhat impractical.
