So BABY (not So Baby Organics) - anyone ever bought anythig from them?

I have recently, but the item still hasn't arrived, they aren't answering emails or voicemail messages, and I'm starting to think that they might have gone under.
Anyone ever bought anything from them??

OP posts:

Further to my post before - I am still waiting for my double buggy - So Baby have been responding to my emails to apologise for delay and said suppliers had telephoned to say there was a further 7-10 day delay - it's now almost 12 days and still nothing. I asked them to send me some kind of proof from supplier which they said they would try to do but I haven't received that either.
Have just been on www.moneysavingexpert.com and apparently there is a way you can claim money back when you have paid using a Visa Debit card. I think I might try that as this is getting ridiculous!

kando · 06/05/2010 12:27

Clareandben - we finally got our refund last week. Get in touch again, give them a deadline and if they go past the deadline then go for it ... it seems they are ridiculously slow at everything (17 weeks it took for them to refund our money; luckily not a lot of money in this case, but Sobaby earned the interest on it rather than ourselves!)

ClareandBen · 08/05/2010 08:26

Thanks Kando! I emailed saying I wished to cancel and gave them 7 days to refund me otherwise I would report them to Trading Standards. Got an email back within 2 days apologising and confirming my order was now cancelled. Just waiting for money to go back in to my account which can take a few days. The Visa Chargeback thing is only for purchases under £100 so that wouldn't have helped me but might help someone else. Good luck everyone!

ClareandBen · 11/05/2010 16:06

Money is back in my account!! Shouldn't be so surprised but I thought I might have a long battle on my hands! Ordered same buggy from Practical Pushchairs (based very close to So Baby funnily enough) - placed order on Sunday, they rang Monday morning to arrange delivery and it came today (Tuesday) - fantastic!!

I wondered if you could give me the other no that you contacted them on? I ordered a bloom high chair on 4th may and have still not received. My baby is due next week and they are now not responding to my emails. I also ordered a change bag and still nothing.

Thanks in advance for your help.

skyeplusbump · 28/08/2010 17:52

they had a store just up the road from me,and one day last month...gone.just gone.

hope you guys get your money back,i had ordered a few things from them, but i hadnt paid for it as i ordered in store.
they always seemed nice,if a little dippy and unprepared for business imo.

uklizzie · 06/09/2010 21:53

I too ordered from so-baby a month ago, a nappy bag. After two weeks and no nappy bag I rang, but no answer for 4 days in a row. Then I sent 4 emails and finally after a week they replied to it. They said out of stock, new stock be in in 1-2wks did I want to wait, I stupidly said yes I'll wait. But now its been 4wks, no bag and twins due in the next 4wks or so. Today I have emailed asking for a full refund back to my debit card. I am so hoping I get it. Its not as much as some people are owed but to me £60 is quite a bit of money that I can't afford to let it pass. Anyone actually been successful in getting a refund???? I'm very concerned that "skyeplusbump" say the shop near her has closed down and gone..... have the gone bust and run off with everyones money??????????? Help, what do we do?

lla08 · 07/09/2010 18:13

I also placed an order 5 weeks ago and have not recieved my item (a Bloom highchair costing almost £250). This companies communication is dreadful and I am yet to recieve a satisfactory reply to my emails. All I have had so far is 'we will look into this and get back to you.' NOT good enough!! I wish I had read this thread before I made my purchase. I will not be taken for a ride though, and have now contacted trading standards and Watchdog. This has to be the worst company I've ever dealt with!

uklizzie · 09/09/2010 21:13

:)
UPDATE:
I think they are refunding me!! I'm not getting too excited just yet BUT I rang Trading Standards and they told me to write a letter to the address on the site and send recorded delivery which I did. At the end of my letter I said If I do not get a refund within 30 days I will take them to a small claims court (which apparently costs £25 but would be worth it)!! I also sent the same as an email too. Then this morning I check my emails and there was an email which said order is now "closed" which I am guessing means they have refunded me???... Checked account, not showing as yet, will check again in a couple of days....we will see!!! I will update on here if I do so then you'll all know what to do to get your money back. To be honest I will pay more now and shop elsewhere, at least Mothercare don't con you, even though a nappy bag may cost me £15 more from there at least I will receive it!!!!! lol Good luck ladies...

Jeffs · 10/09/2010 14:03

for those wishing to chase either their products or a refund they have moved to

10 Kenyons Yard, Weyhill Road
Andover, Hants, SP10 3NP

Wishing you all good luck, god knows how they are still trading.‎

lla08 · 11/09/2010 11:02

Oh that is good news Lizzie! I spoke to Trading Standards and they advised the same. I have still been trying to contact them by phone but it rings and goes to voicemail (you can't leave a message though!), or it is constantly engaged.

I sent an email requesting a refund too but they have not replied (suprise suprise). I have written a letter which I will send by recorded delivery on Monday as well.

I contacted my bank too, I didn't think they offered any protection if you paid via debit card but they do which is good news. I recieved some paperwork off them to sign today, and when they get it back they will investigate and hopefully do a chargeback..

Keep me updated Lizzie, I hope you get a refund in the next few days!

This company is a disgrace! I placed an order on 25th August and have heard nothing since. They have failed to respond to any attempts to contact them via telephone, e-mail or letter. Considering all the people who have contacted Trading Standards and Watchdog it is a wonder the company is still trading. It begs the question - How bad do you actually have to be before you get closed down?

My advice to anyone who is owed a lot of money is to check online to see if your local university has a student law office. If they do, they may take your case on free of charge, as the final year students need experience of consumer law cases and it is the start of the academic year. Good luck.

lla08 · 22/09/2010 19:56

Sobaby recieved my written request for a refund on 16th September and sent me an email on the same day stating:

Hello

I am very sorry for the delayed reply and that we have been unable to fulfill your order within the time scale quoted.

I can confirm that I have cancelled and refunded your order.

Kind regards

sobaby

The order status has changed to 'complete' on their website, but I am yet to have the money back in my account 6 days later... I am waiting patiently!

weeballoch · 23/09/2010 13:51

DO NOT BUY from this web site.
I DID. :(
Their web site looks excellent but beleive me and the other 100 people here, it is just a facade.
DO NOT BUY

Hi

I asked my bank (First Direct) to process a VISA chargeback on the money I was owed and they were fantastic. They said I needed to wait 30 days after the order was placed but then processed the refund within a couple of days and it appeared in my back. It is worth a try for anyone who is still waiting for their items.

The day I contacted my bank I received a response from So Baby to one of my earliest e-mails (and ignoring the more recent ones asking for a refund) stating that the item would soon be in stock and would be sent by courier. I replied to tell them not to send it. I had reordered on Amazon and it was delivered 2 days later - the moral of the story is that it is worth paying more for a reliable company. A few days after the chargeback was processed I received the robot e-mail from So Baby to say that my order was 'complete'. They really should be closed down.

Good luck to anyone still trying to get a refund. x

Hi
What a nightmare. I ordered a changing bag from So Baby costing £45 on 15th August. Although listed as in stock the item has not arrived. On 28th August I received a response to my e-mail saying the item was delayed and would be within ten days which it clearly has not. The telephone number just rings through. I have tried calling 20 times. I have received no response to 2 further e-mails or to a letter sent recorded delivery (it has been successfully delivered) requesting a refund.
I have now contacted BBC Watchdog and also the local newspaper. I am now pursuing a claim through Paypal.
This is so disappointing. The last thing people need when they are pregnant or have little ones is to be out of pocket having paid for items that are simply not delivered. I feel kind of fortunate that I hadn't spent more with SoBaby but £45 is still a lot of money for me!
I urge anyone who has had problems to please contact BBC Watchdog. It is only by taking action that we can see this kind of hideous business activity stop.
I will also be contacting Trading Standards.
Good luck to everyone else. I am just sorry that I didn't read these posts before placing my order.

Jeffs · 09/10/2010 07:23

Noticed today the website is no longer available. This company have now closed, internet states the company has now DESOLVED, this will happen 12th October 2010!!! So Baby may be gone but Big Imagination are still here, same company, same people, don't loose faith.

lla08 · 11/10/2010 16:19

Not sure why Mumsnet has deleted my previous message when I was only stating the truth about this company.

Anyway I got my money back from Barclays who decided to go ahead with a chargeback. I got the full amount £242.10 back on Friday even though I orignally paid by debit card.

Don't give up! I notice their website has gone offline now like the above poster mentions.
