macana · 18/03/2009 17:19

I have recently, but the item still hasn't arrived, they aren't answering emails or voicemail messages, and I'm starting to think that they might have gone under.
Anyone ever bought anything from them??

Ah, minitrip, you've sussed me out. I'm Angela Gorgon in disguise (NOT!).

Now, let me think back to a posting made on 5 May 2009...

By minitrip on Tue 05-May-09 10:00:06
Mumset's 'philosophy':

'This is a discussion forum and we ask you to respect other people's right to their opinions, even if you disagree with them'.
SO MUMSNET, PLEASE RESPECT OUR RIGHT TO OUR OPINIONS, EVEN IF YOU DISAGREE WITH THEM.

what a wonderful welcome to this on-line community I have had for simply expressing my opinion.

minitrip · 15/05/2009 16:27

Victoriaplum01, I'm surprised you don't expect a slight degree of scepticism when you enter a forum of people who have almost all had the most appalling customer service from SoBaby and sing their praises (despite from your own admission they have messed you around a little too).

Please remember there are a lot of mums on this forum and other website forums, who have spent an awful lot of cash with SoBaby and have had to go through the stressful process of threatening legal action (many whilst in the late stages of pregnancy), in order to receive their goods or refunds.

You must be one of SoBaby's very few fans and only remaining customers, so I hope for Angela's sake that she holds on to you... but please don't expect everyone to agree with you.

You are indeed welcome to your opinion. I don't think you understood the relevance of my earlier point (made on 05May), which referred to posts made by myself and others, which were factual in nature, but were deleted by the moderator, no doubt in an attempt to save Mumsnet from potential libel action. You, unlike some others have been allowed to make your point and the moderator has not intervened - you are obviously not in danger of breaching any law by saying you think SoBaby is great, so Mumsnet has allowed you the privilege of expressing that opinion. Be grateful for that, but please don't expect me to take it with anything other than a large pinch of salt.

Sangi · 18/05/2009 10:42

Well! welcome to the fanclub. I am another harrased customer of so baby, with a premature baby in the hospital, who ordered a cotmobile, for her baby's cot in the hospital a month back.

Unfortunately I had to come across this So baby site and I ordered some urgently needed items for my baby who arrived in this world 2 months early.

Now it's been more than a month and I have not received my order at all. My baby stayed in the hospital without her toys and balanket, I too foolishley waited for the items to arrive any day.

I am spending my precious time and energy which is meant to take care of my baby, in communicating with horribly disgusting site, who is dealing with baby products, spoiling the beautiful process of motherhood for lots of mums, by making them go through unwarranted stress and harrasement.

I am going to file a police complaint of fraud against this company now. And collect all these reviews from net site.

Paypal should also be held responsible to allow so baby to use them as a payment agent. I complained to paypal also, but Angela Gordon coaxed me in to withdrawing the complaint on promise that they will refund me the money once I withdraw the complaint. And hey presto as oon as I withdrew the complaint they disappeared.

These rogue internet sites should be harshly dealt and must not be allowed to function.

minitrip · 20/05/2009 10:42

Sangi, sorry to hear you have been messed about too, and at such a stressful time. Hope your baby is doing ok and will be out of hospital soon.

As you've no doubt worked out, Angela Gordon only seems to respond to threats of legal action, contacting the newspapers, getting into trouble with Trading Standards etc. etc. That's how I suspect I got my refund. So good on you for contacting the police, but make sure Angela Gordon knows about it, and you will no doubt get a very quick refund/delivery.

I will try to contact you directly (if it works) with the details of the Trading Standards officer who is dealing with my complaint, because I think that if I try to post the details here my post will no doubt be removed by Mumsnet.

Do pursue it, but try to put it to the back of your mind and don't get stressed - you don't really need it at the moment. Having a newborn is stressful enough. A few of us have managed to get refunds after trying the tactics above, so it's not inconceivable that you will too.

minitrip · 20/05/2009 10:46

Sorry Sangi couldn't email those Trading Standards details to you because you have opted out of receiving emails from other mums. Let me know if you want them - you probably would just need to change your preferences.

fali · 20/05/2009 15:40

hi all
i ordered some items of so baby about 10 days ago only to read this thread after. i was really worried that i would not recieve my item so when it came to 7 days from the time i ordered i emailed so baby saying i wanted it by wed (today) and if i do not receive it i will b cancelling the order and calling my bank. while waiting for a reply i did ring my bank and they advised me to give it 2 more days and if i still had not recieved it they would send out froud forms for me to fill out and they would get my money back. however so baby emailed me back saying ' sorry for delay and items to follow'. i then emailed back saying i wanted a date as to when i would expect my items. so baby replied with a automated email saying they would reply in 48 hours. so i emailed back saying 48 hours would b to late. so they called me ysday saying that they only had one item in stock and the other was not available in my chosen colour. so i had to choose a colour i did not want. they promised me i would receive order 2day and i just have!!
i feel really sorry for all those who have spent 100's and not got their items. i really suggest emailing constant and if nothing then contact yr bank. i really rate the lady who is also going to the police. so baby have no right to take money and not deliver. i will never order from them again and will also pass on to all my mates and family.

elsmore1 · 20/05/2009 21:47

I ordered an item on 14/04/09 and still not recieved even though I have sent 2 letters recorded asking for refund. I will now be speaking to my bank and trading standards and even seeing if I could file a police complaint against her. I am surprised she has not been shut down yet. Good luck to everyone else.

Jeffs · 26/05/2009 22:20

I know you can please all of the people all of the time but these reviews seem way past that; for anyone that is intersted SoBaby have moved to 159 Weyhill Road, Andover.

casrock · 27/05/2009 21:12

I had my earlier message deleted for some reason. Anyway after much hassling I did receive my refund after 8 weeks from SoBaby. However I had contacted trading standards, watchdog and the local andover paper. I feel had I not done this (inspired and encouraged by this thread - thanks all) that I would just have given up and never received my money back.

Sobaby are a terrible company that do not deserve any business - please continue to strive for your refunds - do not let her get away with it.

GeraldineMumsnet · 28/05/2009 09:47

Hi there, the organic baby food company so-baby.co.uk has asked us to post to make clear that so-baby.co.uk has no connection whatsoever with SoBaby.

IS anybody still having problems getting a refund as I am owed money from 14the April still and will soon taking legal action to get my money back.

shrimpsmum · 09/06/2009 22:09

ARRGGGHHH! I wish I had seen this post before I ordered a £66 changing bag from So Baby. I ordered two weeks ago and had a bad feeling when my account continued to show 'processing'. I have now rung So Baby three times and have been assured (though I am not assured at all) that stock is expected any day soon and mine will be dispatched ASAP.

The last time I called I asked what sort of business expects PAYING customers to wait weeks for their order. I was told that my bag was from the US and that they took some time to source. This leads me to believe that stock is not actually in stock but is ordered off the back of customer orders.

I asked the girl I spoke to to honestly tell me if they are a company still trading and was she aware of all the negative feedback. She said it was a shame about the feedback since her manager was 'trying really hard.'

I am absolutely disgusted that so many other mums are waiting for items having paid over their hard earned cash. The last thing any pregnant woman/new mum wants is the stress of wrangling and disputes.

My parting shot today was to say that I will call, email So Baby every day until I get my bag or a refund. If that doesn't happen I will contact the local newspaper (I'm a journalist on a women's magazine so know how write up a story and trading standards).

Will post when and if I recieve the bag. I don't hold out much hope........

elsmore1 · 10/06/2009 20:26

To shrimpsmum, I ordered a bag on 14/04/09 and only got the refund today! After threatening with legal action, if it was a "Skip Hop Duo - Classic" which we ordered and she said she could not source but is still advertised on website! I contacted consumer direct who said I had to give 30 days to advise I want a refund and then wait 30 days to wait for a refund!

Also I paid by debit card so there was nothing I could do. Best thing to do is ask for a refund as you wont get the bag. After 30 days from ordering bag give her 30 more days to get refund. I would call consumer direct also as they are quite helpful.

I also kept sending letters recorded so I had proof of postage.

Best thing you could of done was not buy from sobaby, i think other people tried to contact the local paper not sure how they got on.

kitty1kat · 03/07/2009 21:56

Hi - there are several references to Big Imagination in this thread (which I am SO glad to have found!!). I was just about to order my (very expensive) cot from the Big Imagination website - is it the same company??? If so, I will stay well clear. Thanks for any advice. K

I ordered a Quinny zapp and waited 4 days for delivery and nothing so i called the store. I was told they were out of stock and i must have just pre ordered the pram. This was a blatent lie, it was in stock on the web when i ordered and the day after it was out of stock! I would not have pre ordered the pram as my last pushchair had broken and needed something fast. I asked for a refund and was told this was fine. It all seemed a bit fishy to me so i googled her and came accross this forum. After reading the posts i decided that i wanted written proof she was going to refund me, as my order still said processing and i wanted to cover my back. I emailed at least 3 times and no reply so i called her, i was sent an email saying i would be refunded but still nothing!!!!
I had to order the pram again through another site so i am double the money down and need my money back to pay my next mortgage payment as was made redundant just before having my baby!
I am so mad and upset i have emailed Quinny directly telling them about her and every day i have to wait for my money i am emailing another company that she sells for.
Quinny apologised and said they are looking into it.

roundabout · 17/07/2009 18:36

I went to So Baby today as I was so fed up with waiting for a refund. I only wanted £30 and I am glad to say they did it there and then, but it shouldn't have taken me going to the shop to get it. This seems to be the only way to do it - but understand not everyone can go to the shop!

dbell · 21/07/2009 17:44

I bought a Kidsleep alarm clock. When it arrived one of the bulbs was not working so we replaced it with the spare. I spent 2 weeks training my son to stay in bed longer then the second bulb blew. I have sent numerous e-mails to so baby and not had one response. I have now set up a dispute through pay pal. Hopefully that should do the trick. I wish I had found this site before ordering. If anyone else paid via pay pal it might be worth while getting them involved as they have the power to take action to prevent other buyers having the same problems!!

irishannie26 · 21/07/2009 17:59

i ordered a micralite pram on 25th june and still have not received it which is nearly a month ago im so angry they keep telling me they waiting on stock to come in. i rang today and asked them to send any colour they had and they said they have none.ive had my baby since ordering item and have no pram to get around, ive now started a dispute through paypal cant believe someone can run a store so badly

irishannie26 · 22/07/2009 10:12

just got email that item dispatched fingers crossed i get it

jehd · 23/07/2009 22:47

I ordered a skip hop bag from So Baby on 23rd June. It hadn't arrived by 18th July. I emailed them twice asking where it was and rang them (with no response). They took the money out of my account the day after I ordered it BUT never sent the item. I finally asked for a refund and they said the bag had been discontinued and would send a refund on the Tuesday (I rang on Saturday) and they are closed Mondays. It is now Thursday and I have still not recieved a refund. I since ordered the exact same bag from That Cute Age and it came 2 days later (and the money only came out when it been dispatched!) I will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER use So Baby again and would recommend everyone avoids it unless they want a long wait for their order!

rachels103 · 26/07/2009 22:01

I ordered a skip hop bag on 21st june and like everyone else on here the money was taken straight away but no bag arrived. After several emails it finally arrived nearly a month later. It seems that this company are not rip off merchants but obviously don't have very efficient systems in place. Not v. helpful if you're waiting for a very expensive item like a pram or a cot.

My credit card company did say they would refund the cost if we sent copies of all correspondence after 30 days...that's why I always use a credit card when I buy anything over the internet.

AdrianaO · 05/08/2009 16:30

Oh dear, I wish I had read this thread before I placed my order with them... I have to say I wanted to support a local business rather than Amazon but will not do that again!

I ordered 4 items. Received a call the following day that the colours / patterns I wanted were no longer available, so I agreed for the closest alternative. 3 items were supposed to be sent the same week, my skip hop bag within 2 weeks. 3 weeks later - nothing. I emailed them - nothing. Called 4 times and each time they promised to check the shipment and nobody ever got back to me! I cancelled my order today and they said they refunded my money - fingers crossed I get it in the next few days.

Avoid this company...

Pinkbelly · 19/08/2009 21:51

Oh NO!! I sooo wish I had seen these comments before I made a very big order![sad}

I too am having a bit of a nightmare- I've ordered a very expensive cot and lots of other bits- changing mat etc.. This was ages (a couple of months!)ago. Communication is very poor and they are very difficult to contact i.e don't reply to emails or phone messages. They have now changed their answerphone so you can't leave messages!
The money has been taken from my account (about £800)but still no goods and our baby has now been born and we don't have a cot, bath, changing mat any of our linen , grobags to name but a few things!
BEWARE Their prices are very competitive but don't be swayed for the sake of a few pounds!

GRH · 26/08/2009 13:38

I have had a terrible experience with So baby as well.
I ordered a skip hop bag on 25th July and it is has still not arrived. I spoke to them 2 weeks ago and they said that they will be able to confirm a delivery date within a week but since then I have not had any responses to my emails and cannot get through on the phone line.
I get the impression the business is being run by one person and not very efficiently. Perhaps she is away on school holidays??
Good luck to everyone in getting their stuff. I hope we have not lost our money.
