I have recently, but the item still hasn't arrived, they aren't answering emails or voicemail messages, and I'm starting to think that they might have gone under.
Anyone ever bought anything from them??

OP posts:
lulucharlie · 14/01/2010 14:33

i contacted consumer direct and they have recorded the problem and advised me to send a recorded letter stating my rights and get back to them in 30 days if i here nothing , i also contacted watchdog trading standards, I won't hold my breath to get my money back but i hope evenually they will get shut down if enough people take action!

ProudPa · 14/01/2010 18:20

My kicking off has had some effect - my credit card was credited (by Big Imagination) yesterday with the full amount. I also had an e-mail from them, which said:

cancelled& refunded as per previous emails - thank you

The "previous emails" must be the chasing ones I sent, that were never replied to. But it is rather a coincidence that less that 48hrs after I started publicising what a dodgy company they are, I got a refund.

I'm sure they think that they are now off the hook with me...but that simply isn't the case. I might be a little less rapid in my attacks on them, but they will continue until I hear that they have closed down. Businesses like this are a disgrace, and (as a business owner myself - nothing to do with baby products!) I'm annoyed that people like Angela Gordon are allowed to get away with it.

beryl68 · 14/01/2010 22:26

I've reported So Baby to Trading Standards for their failure to deliver the changing bag and playmat I ordered from them in November. I've since sent a recorded delivery letter to them stating my rights. They don't have very many days left to refund me the money they so efficiently took from me almost two months ago.

Once their deadline is passed, I shall be following your lead Proudpa and publicising their crooked behaviour as widely as possible.

Jeffs · 16/01/2010 07:16

Good for you guys its about time something was done about them; I too have gone down the Trading Standards route, so let see what that does. My only concern now is that I see they have stopped all advertising so if their company is on its way out will we get ever get our money back?!

lulucharlie · 20/01/2010 13:46

I emailed so baby and told them i had contacted trading standards and a letter would be with them shortly and they emailed me to apologise for not answering old emails and told be my account had been refunded, I checked the so baby account and it says i have been refunded , however i have yet to check with my bank, all i suggest to you all is to keep trying!

AngryPa · 22/01/2010 17:39

I have also fallen into the Sobaby Trap!! We ordered a BabyStyle Cotbed, wardrobe and shelf before we realised what they have done to so many others. So we have since cancelled our order. I did recieve a confirmation email stating they would pay the refund within 30 days. Trading Standards have been in touch this week and wanted to know how the refund process is going. If i haven't received my refund by next friday i will be driving to the shop to collect it personally. I don't see why people like Angela Gordon should get away with preying on unborn children and expecting families alike. I won't stop there either i will also contact Watchdog, newspapers and every review site on the web and thats just the beginning if my refund is not received soon!!!!!

beryl68 · 24/01/2010 21:39

I sent SoBaby a very short and direct email last week, outlining my campaign of bad publicity against them and demanding that they pay me back the money they owe me and surprise, surprise, I got a response! I've apparently been refunded my money although I'm assuming it may take a few days to show on my bank statement.

I still feel very angry about what they are doing and still intend to report them to BBC Watchdog.

Kidsgrowsofast · 30/01/2010 20:51

www.bigimagination.co.uk is also part of the same company - thought you might like to know

bex1990 · 04/03/2010 11:55

hiya guys after waiting a month now for a phill and teds vibe buggy of which i have paid over £500 for i havent received it or had replies so i have been doing some research and spoke to a women who used to work there she said she left after two months as she was sickened by the customer service and how they treated customers and how she had to deal with mums and dads in tears as they hadnt received products or money back and how they spoke to there custromers also it is breaking the law when customers havent received there things by 30days or been refunded i am going to the shop tomorrow to see what the women says and if she gets funny etc i will be going to the newspaper and taking legal action if there is anyone that wants to join me let me know as the more people doing so so will make huge difference and who knows we could all be compensated for the stress and loss and sobaby will loose more money than what they would if they had just delivered the goods i will keep u all updated on here but if u do want to contact me let me knw on here and i will send a number xxxxxbecci

bex1990 · 04/03/2010 12:05

it is very sick how they can do it to families especially when i cant go out now as dont have a buggy so my 2year old is trapped inside all day even when the sun is shining and kids are down the park doesnt the company realise they are messing up and will loose buisness they arent gaining anything for the long run as we will all get money back enventually and they wont have customers at all thing is if i was to rob from there shop i would be arrested and fined but they are robbing loads of people and stressing alot of families and nothings being done it is theft so why isnt it being treated as a crime

eils02 · 04/03/2010 13:56

ordered a changing bag in jan payment was taken immediately by them but yes you guessed it i never got it!! Am fed up sending e mails and being fobbed off. Since i asked for the refund they suggested 2 weeks ago i can't get any response. Any suggestions to what i should try next?

beryl68 · 06/03/2010 21:23

The following worked for me eils02 after SoBaby took my money for a changing bag and playmat back in November but failed to deliver the goods. I reported them to Trading Standards who advised me to send a recorded delivery letter to them. Trading Standards advised me what to write. I also wrote a negative review about SoBaby on a review site. As I didn't receive a response to my letter, I emailed a copy to them, advising them of my campaign of bad publicity and included a link to my review. They responded the next day and my money was back in my account a few days later. Hope this works for you.

mundenp2 · 15/03/2010 07:00

Can anyone let me know if sobaby actually has a shop or if its just a unit on an industrial estate as I need to pay them a visit. They've had 463 pound of my money since 19th Jan and as with everyone else they are ignoring my requests for a refund. Better still does anyone have a home address for the owner ?

mumdenp2: While that info is correct, that is the company's registered office. They have a shop in Andover and the address is 159 Weyhill Road SP10 3BH. The owner's name is Angela Gordon. Save yourself the drive, though, and go to this link: www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/csmco2/index.jsp which is where you can serve a County Court summons online. It's easy and it works. Good luck!

obandyp · 29/03/2010 11:10

I have some advice here following a recent traumatic experience with them. If you can, drive down to the shop in Andover and see the owner in person. I know this isn't ideal if you're heavily pregnant like me but I believe it's the only way to get your money back. Or perhaps ask a friend or family member who lives in the South to go for you?

The owners of this business are absolutely hopeless at running a business but I don't believe they're out to rob people. It seems like a hobby/part-time job to them that they just can't cope with. They're mothers (with children often in the shop) and they're advertising their products at crazy prices so "surprise surprise" they are getting more orders than they can cope with.

I felt 1000 times better for going to the shop and a million times better when my money was refunded!! Give yourself a whole day though as they're sometimes on extremely long lunch breaks. Now there's a surprise!

jezrp · 29/03/2010 12:45

Hi , I'm having issues with this company too. Purchased a carry cot for over £130 and no communication at all. Purchased item on March 9th !!!

Like other members on here the telephone number never gets answered, its just an message telling us to contact them by email.

i notice the owner is Angela Gordon ? Does anyone have her email address or contact number ?

Angela Gordon , if you are reading this . I'd like to let you know that i am starting legal proceedings to claim back my money. I will also , email the local newspaper again and refer them to this forum.

Please advise asap. Angela , my email is [email protected] if you want to resolve this !

The owners of sobaby aren't so much out to rob people as they are absolutely useless at running a business. They're scatty women who treat it like a hobby/part-time job that they just can't cope with. If you advertise at silly prices you're going to get hundreds of orders; if you can't cope with the orders then give up! They must have thick skins to deal with the amount of unhappy customers they have. I wish I could sit them down and give them a lesson in business!

I felt 1,000 times better for going to the shop and a million times better when my money was refunded!! Give yourself a whole day though if you're going to their Andover shop as they're sometimes on extremely long lunch breaks. Now there's a surprise!

Sobabyorganics · 06/04/2010 14:53

Once again we would like to clarify to all members that So Baby Organics ie www.so-baby.co.uk has no connection whatsoever to Sobaby of Andover. We specialise in organic baby food and pride ourselves on our customer service.

I ordered an activity mat over a month ago and the item showed as in stock at the time. I have chased several times over the last month. Each time I received a delayed email saying they were expecting delivery from their supplier the following week and am still waiting for it! No way of getting through to anyone by phone.

Having run out of patience and sloppy service and requested cancellation of order as more than 30 days has lapsed and asked for confirmation.

I have not received any acknowledgement to my request and will probably now have to ask trading standards and my credit card company to intervene.

I wish I had seen previous posts about this company before orderin. Be warned as they provide extremely poor customer service and should not be allowed to trade if they have a history of unfulfilled orders and are not refunding customer's money within trading guidelines.

REVILO · 21/04/2010 12:28

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!! I notice some of these posts are over a year old. I wish I had read them before I ordered from So Baby. I placed an order for a travel cot 40 days ago and after sending several emails, I'm still waiting. They cannot be contacted by phone so email is the only option. They do not answer emails! I'm very concerned now that I might not get my order. It would be good to hear an update on this company or if Trading Standards are able to get involved. Can anyone update me on this company? Hope you all managed to either get a refund of your goods - in the end!

ClareandBen · 22/04/2010 18:24

I wish I had read this before placing an order with So Baby! I ordered a double buggy on the 10th March and still have not received it. I emailed them after 30 days was up and after waiting a few days they responded (seems I am lucky to have had a response) saying they were sorry for delay and would look in to it and get back to me shortly. A week later I am still waiting for them to get back to me. I have also tried ringing at different times of day and time when they are closed but just get a recorded message. I have now emailed them (after reading all your comments) asking for a refund. Unfortunately I paid on my debit card. Here's hoping....

bexincornwall · 28/04/2010 10:39

Blimey - was about to order a highchair from them and now will be ordering elsewhere - was just looking for a discount code! Thanks

kando · 28/04/2010 11:05

I've just sent an email to Consumers Direct about Sobaby - they took payment from our account on 30 December last year, didn't bother to tell us that item was out of stock until we contacted them at the end of Jan (they said they'd sent an earlier email telling us - utter rubbish!). After several attempts to call them, and sending emails to which we got the "we are processing your refund" response, they STILL haven't sent us our money back! Thankfully it's not a lot of money, but it's been in their bank account for 17 WEEKS now!!! They are a bunch of £$%**!!! (Sorry, that feels a bit better now!)

sandyrose · 28/04/2010 15:07

I just wanted to post to say I too freaked out after placing a huge order with Sobaby and paid on my debit card - then came across these reviews. I tried to contact them initially to cancel my order but it was impossible to get hold of them, as most people have experienced.

I finally managed to get in touch with them by emailing them to say I wanted to amend my order. They responded via email and I asked to speak to somebody as I wanted some advice. Someone called Jo actually called me from a number that's different to the one on the website. I've been using this number to contact them ever since, and whilst they do seem to be fobbing you off, eventually they have delivered what they said they would and when.

They refunded the cancelled part of my order immediately once I'd spoken to Jo. I've also received my order (a Bugaboo bee plus) about 3 weeks ahead of schedule. There is one item missing from my order but that has been blamed on Bugaboo so time will tell if this actually turns up next week as promised.

Anyway, just wanted to post here to say that they are atrocious when it comes to communication but they have delivered - and I've made a massive saving to boot.

I think the main problem seems to be that they don't keep stock in so are at the mercy of suppliers getting orders to them, and they are too short staffed to keep on top of everything. I don't think it's a scam though.
