macana · 18/03/2009 17:19

I have recently, but the item still hasn't arrived, they aren't answering emails or voicemail messages, and I'm starting to think that they might have gone under.
Anyone ever bought anything from them??

I tried this number (pp) today & they told me that their dept just delivered the items/ logistics & I needed to speak to the shop - so going round in circles.

How I wish I had read these reviews before making my order! I have shopped on line for years & have never ever had so much trouble before - lesson learned for me to check reviews first!

I ordered £100 of items including Skip Hop Changing bag, swaddling wrap & Izziwotnot blankets. Some of the items were not in stock & I expected a delay but what I experienced was unbelievable!

Swaddling was delivered straight away

After many, many attempts at calling & emailing I requested that my order be cancelled after 2 months had passed(!!) & I received NO communication or updates on my items. They had neither refunded me or contacted me with in the 30 days as per their T & C.

Surprisingly the Skip hop bag turned up AFTER I cancelled the order. I have kept it as I dont think I would ever get a refund otherwise! They have ignored my cancellation request & even though I sent another email confirming cancellation of the other items I have not received any communication regards refund of my money or delivery.

Still waiting for the Izziwotnot blankets & I intend on contacting Skip Hop & Izziwotnot to inform them of the poor service received by their distributor.

The telephone is never answered, emails not responded to & to top it all off they have cancelled my 'account' on line so now I can not see the original order that was made as their site now tells me that it does not recognise my email address! Appauling & far too stressful for any pregnant women to have to deal with.

NEVER EVER shop with this company!!! Almost 3 months & I am still waiting for some of my goods or my money back.

mylovlylady make sure you speak with Vincent direct and not just anyone in the office.

Hi, I'm another disgruntled customer who is getting nowhere with this company. I had read bad things about So Baby so avoided them in any pricing I did on baby products. Did some research into the best priced Leander Cot I could, saw Big Imagination and thought perfect only to find that once I tried to contact in relation to my order that this is a sub division of So baby. So angry, I ordered and paid for the cot over 4 weeks ago. The website said delivery could take UP TO 3-4 weeks, and lo and behold there is no cot, no response to my email enquiries and a permanently engaged phone (set ring back request which hasn't went off yet so suspect phone is off the hook). Am about to follow advice of women below and contact watchdog and trading standards. This is unacceptable. The last thing pregnant women need is extra stress and not knowing if a cot will be delivered or not. Avoid this company at all costs is my advice!

Jod77 · 08/10/2009 16:10

I miraculously got them to answer phone, and got a spun a yarn about how they were working their way through contacting all people with Leander orders (I'm sure). Couldn't tell me when they would be expecting item so I asked for a refund. They did there and then and I got a paypoint email through straight away. Thankfully it was done via credit card as I don't fully trust all internet sites (because there are companies like this out there) so I have protection in that sense should things still not quite go to plan. Got same cot online for £70 more but guaranteed next day dispatch. £70 is a small price to pay for a stress free transaction!

longforasnooze · 14/10/2009 17:35

Hi,
I cannot believe all the comments I have found here, and wish I'd seen them before as this is the first bad internet shopping experience I've had.
YES So baby are awful, like everyone it is the complete lack of response that I find utterly annoying.
I ordered items at the end of August. After a couple of weeks I started trying to email, call post a note on their site and got absolutely no response except returned emails and a constantly engaged tone. I then became really suspicious when I realised a different company (big imagination) had billed me to the one I bought from yet their addresses were doors away from each other.
So I sent a letter to each address demanding if the goods had not been dispatched or were not due to be within 4 days that the refund me in full. A week or so later I received half my order with no word of explanation or note about the rest. The item was supposed to be musical, but does not make a sound, but I daren't send it back!
I have since tried calling, emailing and posting again about the remainder of the order. No reply!
Then today I was about to chase it up again and found all these posts and was horrified. I have since called Trading Standards and been advised to send a letter and how to word it, but what I wanted to stress to the guy on the phone was that there are months of complaints on here, and I only lost £18 but people on here have lost hundreds and hundreds and it just doesn't seem fair or right that she is still trading. I would urge people to complain officially so she is pressured to make things right, internet business function on the basis of trust. I am sure the office of fair trading must have some kind of duty to stop her trading until she has made good on the orders she has taken and TAKEN the money for, usually a good company does not process a payment till it is due to be dispatched.
It's just so unfair, pregnant women and new mums have so little time and energy to waste on chasing things up, trying to make calls for things they wanted and the infants they ordered them for will grow out of so quickly. Also since the money is taken if you don't have much money yourself you then don't have the money to buy the thing you need. Thank goodness I didn't order anything essential and I am so sorry to those of you who ordered things you really needed.

Complain
Badger her
Shop elsewhere there are plenty of good companies out there.

JK1972 · 19/10/2009 10:10

We ordered a moses basket and miracle blanket back in July, the moses basket arrived but the blanket was "to follow".

Nothing arrived and their phone rings out ot is engaged and emails to the sales address seemed to go un-noticed.

Eventually sent an email threatening Trading Standard or contacting the credit card if not response by the end of the day. This too was ignored.

So did contact trading standards and then Consumer Direct and Paypoint.net for starters. Paypoint.net just said "If the merchant will not respond to your queries, you are advised to contact your card issuer." which wasn't a lot of help, though the credit card would have looked into a refund. Trading standards / Consumer direct are still onto it.

I advised SoBaby by email that they had now been reported to Trading standards and the credit card and amazingly... got an email back then saying the amount had been refunded, plus the refund email from Paypoint.net.

So keep trying, do contact consumer direct (www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/ ) or the local trading standards (www.hants.gov.uk/regulatory/tradingstandards/ ) or Paypoint.net (www.paypoint.net/support/cardholder-support/support-request/ ) and your credit card having informed [email protected] and [email protected] and maybe you will get what you have paid for or a refund.

I have had a very different experience than most people on here. I found the sobaby website and fell in love with some of the products on it. I ordered a few items on my first order ( a skip hop bag, swaddling blanket) and both of my items turned up within a week of ordering them.

Later on in my pregnancy I then found sobaby to be the best priced for the cotbed i wanted to order so i ordered that from them too. They called me within a week of the order and let me know that it was going to be delayed by a week or two as the supplier was out of stock which i did not mind.

I called them about a week later after reading some bad reviews and spoke to a lady who was very re-assuring and who gave me a delivery date of approx 10 days. She called me back about 3 days later to let me know it was back in stock earlier than expected and could be delivered next day!

With both orders i recieved my goods exactly as ordered and recieved emails both times with the courier tracking number. I would certainly have no issue using them again and intend to as they have some of the best prices out there, and a really good range of products.

onebatmother · 21/10/2009 21:31

erm, willwitheysmum, this is your first and only post, I see?

Since you're in such a microscopic minority, people might assume that you are linked to the business in question.

willwitheysmum · 21/10/2009 21:43

erm, onebatmother, yes its my first post but i am a new mum and not really had time to do this stuff before. think you are being slightly judgemental making that assumption. I may be in the minority but that does not make my opinion any less relevant does it?

I am sorry if you or anyone has had any issues with sobaby but my experience was good and surely thats what this whole thread is about?

onebatmother · 21/10/2009 22:39

You're quite right willwith.
Welcome to MN.

GeraldineMumsnet · 22/10/2009 17:03

Just want to stress again, at the request of organic baby food company so-baby.co.uk, that they have no connection with SoBaby.

Jeffs · 22/10/2009 21:47

willwitheysmum sincere apologies but I tend to agree with onebatmother; after reading your posting I was somewhat surprised to see an identical posting on review centre; you obviously felt so compelled by your 'good' experience of sobaby that you had the time to search out all the bad news and post your views - you are entitled to your views however, don't assume we are all naive enough to believe it.

joford · 04/11/2009 12:06

I finally managed to get through on the phone and despite awful customer service since I placed my order at the end of April and subsequently cancelled it (no reply to emails, phone often on answerphone) I actually managed to speak to someone this time and they were very helpful, located my order and processed my refund whilst I was on the phone. So keep trying and you should get it resolved (though I wouldn't buy from them again!)

Faithandcharity · 05/11/2009 12:52

I would like to add to the bad experiences of the SoBaby Website.
I ordered 3 items in July, the money was taken from my account immediately, but I did not receive the first item until a month later and the second item 2 months later. The third item and most expensive item has never arrived.
I, like many others have tried to contact SoBaby by email, phone and letter - all without response. I have now reported them to my credit card company and also to Trading Standards.
SoBaby has appalling customer service and should not be allowed to trade on the internet. I would not recommend them.

JK1972 · 13/11/2009 12:11

We eventually got a refund shortly after posting here and emailing sobaby advising trading standards and their credit card agency were involved (which they were) and were about to contact our credit card.

So keep trying and hopefully they will sort out selling stuff properly or no longer try to...

JaneNevill · 30/11/2009 17:35

Can anyone get hold of So Baby now?

I had a terrible experience buying a mobile from them in April. They took the money immediately but the mobile only arrived after 2 months of chasing them and eventually threatening legal action.

I have now assembled the mobile at a time when my baby can enjoy it, only to find that it is faulty, but their website doesn't seem to be working.

Does anyone know anything about their current status or have a telephone number? They just don't reply to Emails in my experience.

Many thanks

Jane

beryl68 · 13/12/2009 22:36

I'm a new poster but wanted to add my experience of So Baby. I don't know what their current status is but they're certainly still taking orders from their website. I ordered a changing bag and a play mat from them over two weeks ago. They were very efficient in taking my money the following day but to date, I've not received my goods.

Having now read about their dreadful reputation, I've cancelled my order and asked for a refund but I've had no response from them. I've tried calling them using the number on their website but it plays a recorded message and then cuts out.

I shall be contacting Trading Standards and my credit card company tomorrow for advice and I'm prepared to take the necessary action to get my money back.

CrispinHeath · 15/12/2009 22:36

We've had a similar experience with a changing bag that we ordered 2 1/2 weeks ago. same experience the money was taken and then we've heard nothing since despite emails and phone calls.

I've added a review directly to the So Baby home page via Google Sidewiki to warn anyone who's thinking of purchasing there. See the link below.

If you use the Internet Explorer or Firefox browser and don't use Google Sidewiki I suggest you install it. It's now a standard part of the Google Tool bar which can be downloaded here.

www.google.com/sidewiki/intl/en_GB/index.html

You can then go on and write whatever you like directly to the site and the comments will be available to anyone who wishes to read them.

For more about Sidewiki and how it can be of use read more here.

I ordered a babasling from so baby as it was nt for me i returned it,but are still waiting for my money since september £49 .It took four weeks to come. I have written emailed and phoned so many times i have lost count.DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY.

debby123 · 20/12/2009 08:37

so baby is giving away £5 gift token if you leave them a good review.......what a joke...think we should set a date and all turn up at the shop demanding for are money.....

sw76 · 28/12/2009 11:18

Wish I had found these reviews earlier before I purchased a Skip Hop changing bag from them on the 26.11.09, the payment was taken immediately and the item was advertised as in stock. When I hadn't received the order a couple of weeks later I e-mailed and got a reply advising that they were having difficulties with the supplier but I would definitely receive by the 18.11.09, surprisingly the 18.11.09 came and went with no delivery, I have since e-mailed with no success, I have contacted Trading Standards who advised I had to wait 30 days (26.12.09) and then request a refund which I could have to wait 30 days for, this is appalling considering there are so many negative experiences from people dating back to March, does this woman not realise how damaging this is and why isn't anything been done about her!

Hi, i brought 2 months ago from so baby website a baby carrier i received a email 5 weeks ago to say carrier will be coming shortly, however so baby are now not answering my calls or emails, so i emailed the main supplier direct twho say they no longer supply so baby as they do not pay bill and they are angry as they are still taking money for products they do not and will not be suppling, apparently theso baby shop are not responding to the suppliers emails or phone calls for payment, it makes me feel sick to think this so baby shop is taking money off the back of babies!!

ProudPa · 11/01/2010 17:36

Hi lulucharlie

I didn't hear back from them by the deadline I gave them last Friday, so I have started my campaign against the company and it's owners today.

I've started simply, via Twitter (use @MumsnetTowers in the message), and have posted reviews on reviewcentre.com, websitejudge.com, complaintsboard.com, aboutus.org, ukbabycarries.ning.com, canyoutrustthem.com, and facebook.

This is only the beginning. I won't be taken for a ride, and am furious that so many others, at such an important and wonderful moment in their lives, have been.

Keep watching this space.
