In ASDA this afternoon with my 6 year old ds. As I walked down a particular aisle there was another mum with a small child who was screaming about something. The member of staff rather loudly grunted 'When do they go back to school'

Ds and I stoped to look at packed lunch boxes and stuff - the department this woman was shelf stacking. As we were looking ds was asking countless random questions as only 6 year old can and I was answering. She kept leaning accross us to stack which annoyed me. Then as were were walking off she grunted 'For Gods sake just go away'

It was clearly at us there was noone else on the asile at teh time.

I was so cross I challenged her saying 'was that comment directed at my son and I?'

To which she said 'No, I was talking to a fly'

I asked for the manager but he was in a meeting so he is calling me.

I am very very cross. And that is not like me.

I havent read every comment on this thread but i think dr northerner is right to address head office over this- i have worked in supermarkets and with the public and hd lots of reason to be unpleasant to customers but i NEVER was it was my job to be polite to be pleasant i was paid a wage i wasnt doing a favour i wasnt helping out i was an employee as a result there were rules relating to attitude - this shelf stacKer was WRONG!!!
It is a crap job but dont kid yourself she was probably uneducated ive wored stacking shelves with 10 gcses and a diploma and alongside me were law students,a vicars wife even a nurse!!!
if dr northerner had spoken to the assistant then and there, management would have reacted s if she were at fault !!.

I've been to that Asda (in fact it was my closest supermarket) and I have never had a good experience there.

I used to travel across town to go to Sainsburys just so I didn't have to brave that place. Lots of the staff don't care and the products they stock are a bag of shite (unless you want to buy 20 different types of mucked about cheddar)

I remember one member of tesco staff was VERY rude to me...

she was a customer service lady... i had just been over charged, she didnt even look on the shelf it was on and came back and said the price was right, as it had a sign saying 'PMP' (in letter smaller than this font) which mean price marked packaging so i said how am I supposed to know wat pmp means and she shrugged...

she refused to refund me my over charged money so i went back to the fridge again for the 3rd time and there was no pmp on the label at all and i was over charged... went to see her again (she was not amused) she huffed over with me to the fridge, saw i WAS right, marched back in a strop and practically threw 80p into my hand

I then said to her can you get the manager, and she was all ciarcasric with me about which manageer... did i want dairy, or alcohol, or whatever... so i said i want the manager of the store to which she replied he wasnt working so i had to say whoever was the current store manager FFS (it was crystal clear i had wanted that all along)

she called him and he came along... in ront of her he asked me what the problem was and i said how extreamly rude she was, how I had to come back 3 times when i knew the 1st time i had been over charged, hoe she didnt even aplogise for the shops error and threw it into my hand
the duty manager proceeded to tell me that WE had had a miss understanding... i said No WE havent... i understood completely that i have been over charged and the she IS extreamly rude (I dont have a big problem with being over charged, but if i am and i go to customer services i expect it to be resolved and for me to actually get MY money back)

anyway he was so rude as wel

so i wrote a letter to the actual manager... and got rather a lot of tesco vouchers as an apology for his rude staff member and rude duty manager!
