WAiting for manager of ASDA to call me back I am FURIOUS about this womans attitude towards kids.

In ASDA this afternoon with my 6 year old ds. As I walked down a particular aisle there was another mum with a small child who was screaming about something. The member of staff rather loudly grunted 'When do they go back to school'

Ds and I stoped to look at packed lunch boxes and stuff - the department this woman was shelf stacking. As we were looking ds was asking countless random questions as only 6 year old can and I was answering. She kept leaning accross us to stack which annoyed me. Then as were were walking off she grunted 'For Gods sake just go away'

It was clearly at us there was noone else on the asile at teh time.

I was so cross I challenged her saying 'was that comment directed at my son and I?'

To which she said 'No, I was talking to a fly'

I asked for the manager but he was in a meeting so he is calling me.

I am very very cross. And that is not like me.

And continued spending £100 a week in that store?

well i dont know ive only been in asda a few times just to lok at clothes which actually look a bit rubbish

Carmenere · 01/09/2008 16:23

You might work in customer services but she is stacking shelves in Asda, which, seeing as she is evidently fucking miserable can hardly be the pinnacle of her 'career'. I think that taking it any further would be nit-picking and that it is unnecessary to make the life of this woman any more miserable than it is already.

And for the record I know that plenty of people enjoy working in supermarkets and that it offers flexible and fair working conditions for lots of people.

Carmenere · 01/09/2008 16:24

Like Walmart are going to notice if you take your 100 quid elsewhere
I am NOT defending her behaviour I am just suggesting that the magnanimous thing to do would be to leave it.

IllegallyBrunette · 01/09/2008 16:25

I think she was very rude, and certainly shouldn't of spoken to you the way she did, but I wouldn't take it any further now tbh. I'd still shop there too.

DrNortherner · 01/09/2008 16:25

Oh so I'm in the wrong for raising this and this miserable fucker should be allowed to continue stacking shelves whilst insulting paying customers?

I don't think so.

zippitippitoes · 01/09/2008 16:26

i think its a bit of a storm in a tea cup

FranSanDisco · 01/09/2008 16:26

I think she got a bit big for her boots. She got away with leaning over you and then she thought she'd give a little comment. You should have belted her out of the way I have often asked enthusiastic shelf stackers if it's part of their training to lean over the items I am LOOKING AT . I tell them it is RUDE.

Carmenere · 01/09/2008 16:26

No I said I think you would be in the wrong for taking it any further, I think you were right to complain.

IllegallyBrunette · 01/09/2008 16:27

You wouldn't want her sacked though surely ??

I am sure she will be spoken to, and imo that is adequate.

DrNortherner · 01/09/2008 16:27

And I don't feel my complaint was dealt with correctly by the store manager. So I am emailing head office.

I'm on one now I tell ya

nah she is mental
you are right AND better dressed

ivykaty44 · 01/09/2008 16:30

Why should anyone be told to go away whether in the street or shopping in Harrods - it is irrelevant where you are, there is no need to be rude to someone for absolutaley no reason.

To mumble fuck you to is just as bad as the first woman in question - this person really needs help in how to live in society and be civil to others that are standing in a shop minding thier own business. Perhaps if people could just rub along together and be taught how to when they dont know how then the country would be more pleasant a place to live in.

It is the store managers job to get her help in how to speak to people or keep her mouth closed whilst working - he is responsable for her conduct at work.

solidgoldbrass · 01/09/2008 16:31

FFS get over yourself. She didn't spit at you or step on your feet, she muttered something uncivil that didn't even include an expletive. You've mentioned it to the manager (which was overdoing it in the first place) and you're not going to stop until she's 'disciplined'? Want her flogged with a knotted rope in the car park, do you?
Asda-Walmart are appallingly exploitative employers anyway, so think yourself liucky you're not the one with no option but to work for them and stop expecting arsekissing handwringing super -service from some poor sod on the absolute minimum wage.

Dogsby · 01/09/2008 16:32

resilt!!! fab post there

nos he is a fucker
complain to her.

eandh · 01/09/2008 16:33

ASDA customer service fab on the phone (went last week to get dd a birthday cake with her photo on didnt look properly instore as dd2 kicking off and when we got home the ink had run and made dd have a green face/blue hair)

Phoned customer services who are sending me a £20 gift voucher (cake was £8 but its a 20min drive each way so to compensate for petrol)

DrNortherner · 01/09/2008 16:34

I don't expect super service FFS. I didn't even speak to this woman, but my presence simply irked her.

I don't give a flying shit what she earns. She was fucking rude.

I don't need a lesson in human rights.

OP posts:
Blu · 01/09/2008 16:39

I would have been cross, she was very rude, and it's not acceptable, but shelf stackers work amongst and around, rather than with the public, and if it was me I think I would just consider that her rudeness is totally irrelevant to me - and continue shopping wherever I found the best value / goods for my purposes.

You challenged her on the spot - fair enough, and probbly enough to prompt her to moind her anners and mood in future.

chelsygirl · 01/09/2008 16:40

think you're taking this a bit far, so the woman was rude and a snotty cow, don't stoop to her level

DrNortherner · 01/09/2008 16:41

No Blu she works with the public. In a public place, in a uniform representing the store, on the shop floor when customers are around. They do not have a sign round their necks saying 'I am only shelf stacking do not ask my any questions'

It's great that some of you can be chilled about this, but more me bad customer service stinks.

OP posts:
eandh · 01/09/2008 16:42

oh and have to say that I would complain about this woman if it was me (complained in sainsburys about woman in cafe who huffed and puffed when I ordered a hot meal 25mins before the cafe was closing and then proceeded to wipe the table whilst me and dd were eating and stand watching us we were out of the place 5mins before they were due to shut and manager told us they are contracted to work 30mins after cafe close so that customers can be served until closing time)

DrNortherner · 01/09/2008 16:42

See how cross I am - my typing has gone to pot!

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 01/09/2008 16:43

its bad for you to get so stressed tho

DrNortherner · 01/09/2008 16:44

Don't worry I'm not about to top myself or anything

OP posts:
chelsygirl · 01/09/2008 16:44

calm down a bit, you're realy blowing this out of proportion
