WAiting for manager of ASDA to call me back I am FURIOUS about this womans attitude towards kids.

In ASDA this afternoon with my 6 year old ds. As I walked down a particular aisle there was another mum with a small child who was screaming about something. The member of staff rather loudly grunted 'When do they go back to school'

Ds and I stoped to look at packed lunch boxes and stuff - the department this woman was shelf stacking. As we were looking ds was asking countless random questions as only 6 year old can and I was answering. She kept leaning accross us to stack which annoyed me. Then as were were walking off she grunted 'For Gods sake just go away'

It was clearly at us there was noone else on the asile at teh time.

I was so cross I challenged her saying 'was that comment directed at my son and I?'

To which she said 'No, I was talking to a fly'

I asked for the manager but he was in a meeting so he is calling me.

I am very very cross. And that is not like me.

woman may have had a bad day, yes she was rude but goodness me, there are other things to get in a huff over surely?

SaintGeorge · 01/09/2008 21:09

I sound chuffed nicky?

Not sure how you figure that one.

Read my post again.

How about this bit:

"Asda's rules, not mine".

I am disappointed if I have to mark someone down for not doing their job properly or if they are impolite to a customer, but I am doing my job.

ErnestTheBavarian · 01/09/2008 21:09

oops, sorry, was Lidl not aldi. Nappies for employees to avoid loo breaks, except for women when Antie Flo visiting - but they had to wear a special headband. Presumably made of tampons or something to avoid ambiguity

Oliveoil · 01/09/2008 21:09

dh has just brought in cheese and pickles and told me Ross Kemp is on [highbrow], I will be off

DrNortherner · 01/09/2008 21:11

Has no-one mentioned the usual
She might have been feeling really ill/ learned her mother was ill / just split up with her DH?
How did this get to over 150 messages without that?

DrNortherner · 01/09/2008 21:13

LEAVE THE SHIT AT HOME AND SMILE

mY FIRST EVER MANAGER WOULD SAY TO ME, when I was a shelf stacker.

OP posts:
3andnomore · 01/09/2008 21:13

well, a lot of people, me including , did say that she might be having a bad day....stealth

StealthPolarBear · 01/09/2008 21:18

I know but we haven't had the usual build up of scenarios starting with her being woken by the phone (ill mother), so leaving late, so missing her train, walking, getting caught in a freak downpour (of frogs) then being told off by her mean boss for not looking presentable, going home to change and finding her DH in bed with another woman...who was wearing the same outfit only it looked better and wasn't froggy
etc

tit!

onepieceoflollipop · 01/09/2008 21:22

DrN good luck with your complaint. I complained in Asda once, and followed up with a letter to the manager, (never bothered taking it as far as Head Office)

2 years ago our local Asda kept selling formula milk in the reduced section (which they are not allowed to do). I mentioned it politely to customer services and the man on there was very to me and disinterested.

That was ok, but as I went back down the baby aisle, he was saying loudly to another colleague "...and this stupid woman has just been moaning and whinging at customer services, some rubbish about the formula"

I swept past them pausing only briefly to smile in his face and say very loudly and cheerfully "oh hello again, yes that it me you are talking about!" He smiled automatically in response to my smile and then went - I laughed loudly.

onepieceoflollipop · 01/09/2008 21:24

...2 years on I am still waiting for a reply.

WideWebWitch · 01/09/2008 21:35

lol at this thread esp fio's fly comment and stealthpolar's stuff about her bad day

3andnomore · 01/09/2008 21:35

now, onepiece, that would be a reason I would complain about, too...and that you never got a reply...

Beauregard · 01/09/2008 21:42

This thread reminds me of the time dp and i were at the checkout in Tesco and the 2 checkout girls were talking between themselves ignoring us and slagging off the previous customers eg "fat cow" etc.I was furious and went to the customer services and complained very loudly at which point they literally dragged the girls off the checkout and marched them upstairs.Tesco appologised profusely and even updated me on the outcome, which was to take the girls off the checkout and make the girls do a customer care course .

onepieceoflollipop · 01/09/2008 21:48

3andnomore I went on a bit of a one-woman mission a couple of years ago with regards to unethical promotion of baby milks. Made complaints in 2 supermarkets and in Boots. The only one that was interested was Boots - although the check out person didn't understand and just kept reassuring me that it was actually out of date yet...

The Boots manager rang me back and was and apologetic, they were concerned about being reported to Trading Standards I think.

QuintessentialShadow · 01/09/2008 21:56

I bet she was really talking to the rats, but she couldnt say this to a customer, so she said she was talking to a fly.

Yes, I have seen rats in asda, they like it near the cereals. You mostly see them when you are doing the midnight shop (or 2 am shop as may be) when the store is quiet and with hardly any customers.

onepieceoflollipop · 01/09/2008 22:01

at QeS. I have only seen rats outside shops not inside.

Now that would be an interesting letter of complaint (and even more interesting response!)

AnotherFineMess · 01/09/2008 22:07

Sprayed wine again at SPB's bad day post.

Glad no-one is in the room to see me laughing maniacally at a computer screen. I normally titter, or giggle, but tonight I have been roffling, as they say.

Ooh, merriment and mirth on mumsnet.

VickyPea · 01/09/2008 22:37

Its a good job she wasn't working in my local Asda in Gateshead, they have sparrows flying round. On Saturday there were two of them in the pet food aisle, neither of them had baskets! I worry that they may crap on my head whilst I am shopping.
