when me and dh were expecting our 1st, I already had 2 kids from 1st marriage, that modelled. Dh said, my baby not doing that.

Was at a job with elder boy when baby ds was 3 wks old, and photographer, wnet on and on about could she photograph him. Someone else asked at a different job the following week.
Soon, he was all over Mothercare, bless him. Dh takes all his stuff into work to show his colleagues now.

My dd2 was asked to do Hollyoaks when she was 10 days old, but she was too big, . She weighed over 10lbs, and they wanted a littlie.

So yes work is there.

dancerdeb · 06/04/2008 21:15

Hiya Ichef
Well done and congrats for being taken on with KL.
Just to let you know how it happened with my 3rd dc. My eldest ds was with ES and when they knew I'd just had another baby they were on to it, and within 12 wks my baby was workin!!! So dont feel guilty as there is lots of work for new borns, enjoy it whilst it lasts!!
After a lot of changing agencies we are now settled with KL, and I cant complain. Best of luck for everything.

Hello Liahgen
Both more or less saying the same thing. Im with you!!
As regards my third ds, I didnt think about modelling anymore for my children, and now he's the most successful of my dc as regards being happy in this business, the other two, they arent interested any more, so long msy may it last for my little ds !!!

Anyone with Model Plan they have agencies in London and Manchester. They have Nell McAndrew on books. Just wondered they take on kids.

liahgen · 06/04/2008 22:04

never heard of Model Plan I'm afraid.

Dancer, yeah my eldest dd, (13 ) not the slightest bit interested anymore. She's very into Musical theatre, more chance to show herself, iyswim.

I've just applied to Sylvia Youngs for my eldest ds, he's really keen to get more telly. KL are fab for photographic, but don't seem to get much tv.
Wasn't gonna tell anyone that, was waiting to hear. My dd got interview with them bout 6 years ago, she was 7, she had to go in room without me, in front of 3 strangers, and sing a song, read a poem and talk about herself for 3 minutes!! (try that)

when she came out, I was so proud of her, then the woman came out, and said in front of 6 yr dd, "she's not quite right for us"
I was fuming, dd asks me on way to car, "why wasn't I good enough?" my god, I said they don't know what they're talking about!! not every child could do that.

Am hoping selection process isn't quite what it used to be.

Am I doing the right thing? Ds has appeared in 9 commercials and been in Oliver Twist for the BBC at Xmas, (anyone see him?)so knows about tv a bit, but don't want him to feel rejected. He wants to give it a go though, he's 10.

liahgen · 06/04/2008 22:05

durrr, 7 yr dd

goingfor3 · 07/04/2008 08:57

ichef my dd1 models and the agency know I' having another baby next month so they have put it in their records. If you want to try an agent that you don't already have a child with then I imagine they would ask you to wait a few weeks before applying. I don't expect my baby would get anything though as I'm sure for newbron things they use dainty babies not the 9lb+ I expect I will have!

dancerdeb · 07/04/2008 09:30

goingfor3, wish you all the best on your new addition to your family, I dont know, bonny babies get work as well
liaghen, used to be in the business myself, and a lot of my ex students have been for various auditions, so know the theatre schools well, if you wnat to email me on [email protected] please do and we can have a more in depth chat, and Id like to ask you a couple of thngs too!

2icklepickles · 07/04/2008 14:30

liahgen - the younguns interview is pretty much the same still!!!! They take the kids off on their own to see how confident they are with strangers and to judge if the kid really wants to do it or if its a case of 'pushy mum sydrome'. Good luck to your DS.

liahgen · 07/04/2008 20:41

thanks 2 pickles. I didn't have a problem with the interview/audition, (call it whatever) it was the way she just came out and said those words infront of dd. She could have called me later, whatever, didn't seem very neccessary to me. Takes alot of guts for little uns to do that.

Are you with them?

ichef · 08/04/2008 02:01

just came back from work (yes very long hours) to find an email from B&B saying they're interested in ds now I must admit I'm slightly confused as I've heard amazing feedback on B&B are they similar to KL? Do they get roughly the same types/amount of work?

Thanks all for comments on newborns, my baby is due in July so have a few months to think about and mainly prepare dh

lilylu · 08/04/2008 08:33

ichef.. great news ! well done to your ds. i think B&B get more in the way of tv work than KL do.. maybe someone can confirm on this ? Think B&B are good for babies too. How old is your ds?

liahgen · 08/04/2008 08:41

Am inclined to agree about b&b, and tv. Kids are fab for photographic, not many can beat them, but they don't get that much TV.
That said, when they do get tv, they tend to send specific kids, so more chance of actually getting the job, if that makes sense.

Good luck, well done, both top agencies. Make your mind up time. lol

julie4travel · 08/04/2008 09:21

ichef - i can only speak highly of bb, great friendly team , prompt payment in earnings, quick with updates etc, they are a great agency, we had five straight jobs no castings with them last year

lyndall · 08/04/2008 09:46

Hi liahgen, Just after we joined KL, B&B said they were interested but we did not take it any further. From a personal viewpoint, I wish we had now as things have been very slow for us. In fact I am considering approaching B&B again.
Other children do wonderfully with KL and I always see their models in magazines etc. so it seems ultimately it is just down to luck which one you choose. My DS is older (10) and I think there would have been more work for him with B&B. I also preferred the 'customer service' at B&B, Kipsey is very helpful and approachable.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

totallyfloaty35 · 08/04/2008 11:24

Kl pretty slow at paying and a bit abrupt on phone etc. U/a the nicest but they only recruit twice a year.Personally i would go with BB then if didnt get on try U/A in November
