Hi altin,
i've been applying for two years to the top4 but with no luck with either of my daughters, i will continue to try.
my niece and nephew had lots of work with scally wags , so it is a good one but maybe my dd's age! They are now with a sylvia youngs.
my other is with BK, had quite a few availabiltiy checks and nothing come from them...maybe when mine are 3 and 4 they will get more work as they are easier to work with then... x

julie4travel · 15/02/2008 16:54

rubystarr - dancerdebs internet is down and will post when its back up next week, she got your message

mummyeme · 19/02/2008 15:35

Hi all,
Haven't been on here for ages, bogged down with sorting out school appeals (I'm sure my degree was more straightforward and less hassle)
Rubystarr,
Have you spoken to Scallywags, they may extend your dds contract if she hasn't had anything. I'm sure I read somewhere that an agent gave the child an extra year free as she hadn't got any jobs in the year she'd paid for. Would definitely speak to them before trying elsewhere. They do say that age group don't get as much work as clients are less likely to book for them. But in dds case she got a lot when they said she wouldn't and now she's 3 not a sausage!!!
If you do go elsewhere try Norrie Carr (they do get the work and are a good agency) but aren't as expensive as some of them.

julie4travel · 20/02/2008 13:01

rubystarr dont give up hope, the top agents turned my kiddies down in first instance, i was third time lucky with bb for my ds

we nearly went with norrie carr before bb took my ds on

we did the child model academy thing on sunday for both kiddies which was a really good day, my kids loved it, i was really sceptical aswell! there was casting directors there to advise etc and they did dances to high school musical and did a catwalk
was a fun day!

FooFooTrue · 22/02/2008 11:59

Hi all, has anyone had any tv castings through kids london? I am thinking of signing my dd up with them, she was with them before but i quit as she was going through a shy phase. They were really good for us before but never had any tv castings? can anyone advise?? thanks

lyndall · 22/02/2008 16:11

Hi FooFooTrue
We had a commercial casting a few months ago with KL.

altin · 22/02/2008 19:37

Hi FooFooTrue: dd is with KL and had a tv casting last month (her first) for British Gas. Nothing came of it, but dd seemed to enjoy it. Good luck to you if you're geting back into it.

Has anyone had job with La Redoute? dd had casting today in Hammersmith. We got there near the end and it was all very quick in/out (90% there were KL and Bruce & Brown going by the signing-in book)

julie4travel · 24/02/2008 16:21

not us altin, and one of kiddies is with bb
good luck to you!

julie4travel · 24/02/2008 16:22

mummyeme - was it your ds with bb? have you had anything since joining them?

mummyeme · 24/02/2008 18:07

Hi, Julie,
I wish! dd is with NCA now, shes 3. Had a query re shoe size Friday evening but haven't heard anything since. I was expecting things to be quite busy at her age, but to no avail so far.

julie4travel · 24/02/2008 20:40

mummyeme- we had that call re shoe size on friday soon - doubt we will hear anymore from it. i am sure things will pick up soon for us!

rebeccasmum010107 · 24/02/2008 21:47

Hi new on here and just found this thread. we live in peterborough and have applied to a couple of agencies in london bb turned us down as too far away and that you know of local and decent?

rebeccasmum010107 · 24/02/2008 21:48

ps should read any that you know of local and decent ?

Rubystar77 · 24/02/2008 23:15

hi mummyeme, not seen your name around for a while, i thought maybe you had changed agencies.... yes i will ring nearer the time, maybe they will send her for casting if i say something lol!!!

julie4travel · 25/02/2008 09:46

rebeccasmum- did you explain to bb the journey time on the train service to london to bb. initially we were turned down twice yet once i explained how quick we could get to london then took us on. sometimes we get to castings quicker than people who have to travel accross london. also please bear in mind most casting fees wont cover your train ticket cost even with a family railcard, esspecially returning peak time. we normally are at a loss from castings yet i am willing to do that as when you get the job that makes it worthwhile. have a look on www.alba.info for a list of a rated agencies.

mummyeme · 25/02/2008 20:16

Hi all,
Same for me, I truely think that some agents think that if the address doesn't include London they think you are too far away when infact we can be there really quick too. Good luck for shoe size, I remember your ds is similars age to dancerdebs, how old is your dd?
Ruby, good luck, all will come good I'm sure. Dds will be taking over the billboards before we know it!

soph28 · 25/02/2008 20:25

Hello everyone,

my ds (2.9) has just got a contract with Models Direct- they seem to be a big international company with loads of clients- does anyone know if they are ok?

We live in Scotland so I wouldn't have applied with any of the London agencies.

He has only been on the books for about 2 weeks so no work so far!

lanismum · 25/02/2008 21:50

soph28 have you already handed over any money? if not, DONT! they are well known for all the wrong reasons

totallyfloaty35 · 25/02/2008 22:14

DONT GO THERE SOPH,TRY BIZZYKIDS I THINK THEY HAVE A SCOTTISH OFFICE AND LOOK ON THE ALBA WEBSITE,sorry to shout, but they have a very bad rep

tyac · 25/02/2008 23:24

Hi there, am new here.

Just wondering about model agencies.
Have applied to quite a few for my 2 daughters and MOT, Childs Play, Bizzykidz, Allsorts, Elisabeth Smith, Beau Belle, Rascals, have all accepted them.

B and B, UA and TS are not taking yet so won't try them yet, have only just sent off to Kids London, Norrie Carr and Scallywags.

Just seems they are all accepting them...do they not turn any away??

Just now unsure of whom to go with, have to make appointmens for girls to be seen ...so don't want to pay out with wrong agency.

Whats others views on the above agencies

thank you

liahgen · 26/02/2008 07:16

Hi all,

I'm new to this thread though not to the world of child modelling. My kids have all done it since eldest was born, (she's 13 next week!!)

Have been with 3 agencies, and are currently with Kids London, which is one of the top agencies in London. Have been with them for 6 years now.

Tyac, can I just ask, why are you applying to so many? Just go to a couple of interviews, then make a choice. Kids London are quite fussy and if you look on their website or at their model book, you will see they don't have many of each age in there.
Out of the ones that have accepted you so far, I would recommend rascals and mot.
I know Elizabeth Smith have been going years but imo, I don't see alot of their kids at jobs anymore, the newer agencies do seem to be overtaking them for whatever reason.

To whoever it was who asked do you got tv casting with KL,
My eldest boy has featured in 9 commercials, plus stuff for the BBC, they don't seem to get as many tv castings as some of my friends but the ones we do go to, we tend to get, so it seems they may be more select at sending the right kids iyswim.

Hope this helps, my 2 yr old is on call for Vogue Bambini at the mo, (not half as glamorous as it sounds, the big "posh " companies pay peanuts, thinking you should be doing it for the prestige)that said, the pics are always stunning. My 4 yr old is all over the spring range of Asda, looking forward to seeing that, they are a lovely crowd to work with.

tyac · 26/02/2008 10:58

liahgen. The only reason i applied to so many(which i did all at the same time - execpt the 2 postal ones) was to see if any would be interested, didn't expect them all to be interested, my intentions are to go to only 1 or 2 interviews and like you said make my choice then...thats if the agency will still be interested, not sure how it allworks really. Due to being new to this, am not sure who were best to go with ect..Thank you for your advice.

Tinkerbel6 · 26/02/2008 11:02

Soph28 models direct aren't a big international agency they are con artists and I hope you havn't parted with any money

tyac out of all the ones you have been accepted for I would pick MOT, but wait until you have had feedback from them all to make your decision

julie4travel · 26/02/2008 19:46

mummyeme - my dd is 4, we left ts last year as i didnt want to pay out more renewal fees with them (too expensive), we havent heard anymore since the shoesize thing last week have you?

tyac i applied to loads of agents when we were swopping them take your time and dont rush.

mot are non sole rep which is a good bonus. i have seen elisabeth smith at shoots and castings plus bk, rascals all seem to be at the castings. kids london do get lots of lovely jobs too

liaghen - welcome hopefully you can share your advise to us.

good luck to all with castings and jobs this week
