HI all, have started our new thread, thought it was a good time to do so, as nobody seemed to be mid-conversation, at least I hope so!!!
Lets hope its a great month for us all

Julie4travel, i'v just clicked who you are, it's me jellybaby. I had to find a different nickname on this site as there is another person with the same one. Someone on the other site gave me this website and said it was good for modelling advice and gossip. Thought that i could do with all the help i can get in this business, it's just as confusing as acting.

Just waiting for that phone to ring with a casting is all i ask!

ichef · 14/04/2008 15:12

Jazz - I also surprised they didn't even want to see the kids but I really have heard they're one of the tops and decided to really go for it, B&B seemed nicer but they wouldn't take dd on and dh wasn't pleased he thinks it's better to have them both at the same agency and he's probably right, much easier having to deal with one company, I suppose.
I'm sure our kids will have castings (wishful thinking!!) just a matter of time.
Let's just wait for the magic phone call (or calls!!)

totallyfloaty35 · 14/04/2008 16:40

My DD has long blonde hair and her pics are taken by a mate who is a photographer. To be honest she is a better actress than model,so Kl probably not the best agent for her,i have put my kids pics on my profile.
Eldest DD is with a different agent as is baby dd.Baby does the most work.Eldest did a huge amount until she turned 5yrs and we moved out of london, she was with Bubblegum then and they used to be a very good agency.
KL will put your kids up for all suitable work and a selection of snapshots sent every few months is fine, they like to choose the most suitable pics to send out and its not usually the ones we(parents) would pick. Im sure you will get a call soon

JAZZ4494 · 14/04/2008 18:44

You can be that i will be on here grinning when my dd gets her first casting.

Totallyfloaty35, your children are naturally beautiful. The photos are fab. My dd's snaps are nothing like that. I think i will have to think about getting a photographer to take some good ones of her. How do you know what photos they select from the ones you send up, or do they use all of them? I sent up three. All very different.

My dd is really into her acting too. She's a very confident girl. At the moment she wants to be an actress when she grows up. Bless her! As long as she keeps up her education and gets good results, then i'll be happy. She is a very grounded 9yr old, and takes everything in her stride. If only i could be more like that!!

mummyeme · 14/04/2008 19:09

Hi all,
Which sort of photos do you use, cheeky and smiley or moody, looking at the camera or not. Just asking as I can update dds photos and wanted an idea of the best sort of pics to send.
Thanks in advance

JAZZ4494 · 14/04/2008 19:24

Good question mummyeme! I was also wondering what sort of photos are good to send up, if you wanted to update them. I would imagine they would like them natural, but like you said, should they be smiling, etc. Are you having yours professionally done mummyeme?

mummyeme · 14/04/2008 19:58

Don't think I will do them proffessionally (wow I'm sure thats spelt amazingly wrongly) as the agency are going to update her website ones (thank goodness) at a photoshoot. But in the meantime they will send out any updated ones I have to clients. However after hearing nothing for months shes had 2 castings (in as many weeks) on the strength of her current website pics. What to do? I really want to make sure the ones I send for the meantime are great. I'd imagine KL are moody pics but I'd say you've got the right ones as dd was accepted wow! What type of pics did you send to KL? From what I've read in the past KL hold a photoshoot and from that you can get into the look book for them, so may be worth calling them about that (also if you can see what they've used to represent her on the web I'd try and replicate that). Having said all of that I'd see what the other photos are like for KL and if the majority are proffessional, then I'd go with that. Last of all (what a big ramble) Well Done to your dd, bet shes thrilled

JAZZ4494 · 14/04/2008 20:59

Thanks Mummyeme, I sent three pics up to KL, one with hair in a pony tail, completely off her face, one with plaits and the other with her hair naturally down. They were'nt really great shots, and i think one had the old 'Red Eye' look. But they must of liked the look of her eh?

I know this sounds dim, but what exactly is a look book, and long will it be before they want her for the photo shoot? (I'm sure you can tell that i'm new to this.)

My dd is happy about being with KL. Now she's just waiting for her first shoot. Fingers crossed.

ichef · 14/04/2008 23:41

Jazz - I was wondering the same thing re look book glad it's not only me, I'm guessing it's a book with al the models? That sounds so old fashioned

We had a scan today and found out we're having another ds, v. pleased!

mummyeme · 15/04/2008 07:24

Hi,
Yes, the look book is a book full of photos of the models.
Congrats ichef!

Rubystarr, how are you?

julie4travel · 15/04/2008 07:57

jazz4494 - thats made me laugh - i didnt realise it was you sorry! hope you are ok , will drop you an email when i get a chance no castings for us at the moment hense not emailed you!

JAZZ4494 · 15/04/2008 18:17

ichef, congrats to you, that's lovely news. I expect you will be thinking of names now eh? need any ideas, and i'm sure we can all come up with a few for you.

Mummyeme, would you advise that i ring up kl and ask if my dd is already on the look book. Or do they not bother putting them in it until you ask them to? There's so much to take into account i want to sound like i know a little bit about what i'm talking about before i call them up.

Thanks Julie4travel i got your e-mail. Fingers crossed, i will get the ok (if you know what i mean) wink, wink.

mummyeme · 15/04/2008 18:49

Hi Jazz,
As far as I understand KL only use photos from their look book shoot for the look book. Having said that, only if they like their photoshoot photos will they put them into the book (all a bit complex), thats how I understand it from what I've read. I wouldn't be worried about ringing KL up and asking them anything you want to know, after all they signed your dd so it's fair enough to ask them any questions. I'm sure they'd be glad you're keen to know how it all works, don't worry if they are brusque it might be they are busy. Don't be intimidated by them they're a great agency.

JAZZ4494 · 15/04/2008 19:26

Mummyeme, I might just give them a call and get them to explain their procedure, etc. It could be benefical to get the in's and out of things their end.

Hope their not too scary and think i'm a pain when i ring them.

2icklepickles · 16/04/2008 11:04

Good luck Jazz4494, make sure you have everything you want to ask written down otherwise you will end up feeling stupid for phoneing as they are not ones for making polite conversation!!

JAZZ4494 · 16/04/2008 12:49

That makes me really nervous now,(gulp). Fingers crossed for me. I will just have to sweet talk them with my charm. I'll get back to you when i call them.

lilylu · 17/04/2008 12:53

has anyone applied to Bruce & Brown since they opened their books beginning of this month? And if so, have you heard back? thanks

totallyfloaty35 · 17/04/2008 16:56

Bruce and Brown are pretty slow to respond to emails,if you dont hear in 2weeks then call them.U/A are recruiting in may too, they are nice to deal with.

supercherry · 17/04/2008 16:57

Hi All,

What child modelling agencies are reputable. In particular can anyone tell me anything about Eurokids?

lilylu · 17/04/2008 17:10

hi totally.. thanks... is it really best to call them?.. shouldnt we just wait it out??

lilylu · 17/04/2008 17:11

supercherry.. agencies I know to be reputable are bruce & brown, urban angels, rascals, scallywags, norrie carr, bizzykids and mot. dont know about eurokds tho ! good luck

supercherry · 17/04/2008 17:16

Thanks.. are any of those Midlands or North as I don't live within the M25 which is what I hear is a requirement of the London agencies?

lilylu · 17/04/2008 17:19

no, they are all london based. i think bizzykids take children from outside london and quite possibly some of the others as long as you can get into london for castings and jobs. most prob other agencies near your way too.. have a look on the web !

mummyeme · 17/04/2008 20:01

Hi all,
Brooke77 how was the casting?
Jazz how did your call go, hoping you made it out the other!?!
Rubystarr, come back!!!!!

brooke77 · 18/04/2008 07:59

hi mummyeme.. casting was actually an audition for a commercial and was fine, but little one not keen on being held by a strange male actor (neither would i be !!!) so no job here, no worries. got a photoshoot on monday tho !
