Hi all
Thanks for the good wishes
DS really seemed to have a fun time at the casting especially before we went in, but in front of the camera he didn't really laugh (even when I tickled him) -the whole idea of the advert is 'laughing babies'. I'm a bit disappointed as he really does have an infectious laugh :O but hey it was really enjoyableand good experience. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for another casting- his contract is up mid June!

Hi Wigglesmum,
Not to worry, it must be a really different experience for them. When dd was a baby we went for her NCA assesment and she wasn't up for smiling too much, at the time they said is she normally quite smiley? (which she is). When we got to the bottom of the stairs outside the office she broke the hugest smile you've ever seen, luckily she got her contract and loves being in front of a camera, so you never know. Fingers crossed. He may even get a straight job next. At her last casting the photographer had dd in fits of giggles from start to finish, after the shoot she was filmed and she loved every minute. Good luckx
Good luck for everyone else too

oh yes ! tis so difficult with the little ones sometimes ! dd at casting today really did not want her photo taken ! i overheard some lovely comments towards her which was super, but photographer finally got his snap with her looking over my shoulder ! i find at shoots she is great once she warms up and gets used to faces, but when it is a casting for a minute or so, is a whole different ball game !! Anyone got any tips to help me to know what to do to encourage her to "play ball" at castings?

wigglesmum · 25/04/2008 00:40

Wow! We had another casting on the trot!
Was anyone at 'The Manor' casting in Hoxton today? We were there from about 1610 to 1630!
xx

Hi, sorry another one new to this ,if your dd or ds is of school age how are the casting arranged ? we live quite central to London but I guess I have always wondered what the arrangement's are for this, my dd is 6 & I always get told she shd model etc etc, she is very unusual & striking and its like a daily thing , she is very unaware but just attracts attention wherever we seem to go .I could not take her to castings if they were in the week but her Dad could and she did get accepted for quite a few agencies but just need to explain to him how it would work. thanks

lilylu · 25/04/2008 11:15

hi curlysmum.. congrats to ur dd for being accepted.. which agencies? castings are often given at very short notice.. your agency would phone it through to you.. sometime the day before, sometimes the same day. So you have to be prepared to be flexible with your arrangments ! Most of them take place in central london. good luck !!

lilylu · 25/04/2008 11:16

oh yes.. meant to say they usually take place at the end of the school day, but you may well need to collect your dd early to get her to the casting, so would need cooperation from the school

julie4travel · 25/04/2008 12:08

wigglesmum - not sure if its same one yet we were supposed to have manor casting on wed, we got down to london to then receive a call that they had made a mistake with clothes sizes and wouldnt be needed as we were wrong height. will still get paid the casting fee though which is something. i guess that was same casting you refer too? a swiss company?

good luck to you

julie4travel · 25/04/2008 12:11

curlysmum - this book is brilliant for advice- you can buy from places like amazon it explains about modelling and acting castings etc. at first this was one of the things i brought to see how shoots castings etc work

Janice Hally modelling and acting for kids book

curlysmum · 25/04/2008 15:12

Thank-you for your replies , I will have to see if dd father would be happy to have her leave school early etc on the days if they come about , I am just in two minds whether to start this all off to be honest although I think it seems a missed opportunity for her not too iyswim. Thanks for all your help

julie4travel · 28/04/2008 08:30

curlysmum- if you live in central london you may not find there is too many early collections from school for castings. the earliest one we have ever been offered was a 4.10 casting and some up to 7 o clock at night.

good luck to all with castings and jobs this week

mummyeme · 28/04/2008 18:33

Julie4,
That helps me too, thanks. Was wondering about timings for when dd starts school, so big thankyou
Good Luck to everyone too

christabel · 30/04/2008 14:33

Anybody with Absolute Model Management they have a few office around UK.

julie4travel · 30/04/2008 21:12

christabel - they have an office in liverpool or manchester i believe. they were the agent who dealt with the british isles event the other year (the one when the kids were involved in categories)
