Lets hope its a great month for us all

ichef - i am finding my 7 year old had quite a lot of castings so far this year (compared to last year) so work is def there, yet a ds not a dd so could be different although most of the castings we have had have been boys and girls there. my dd of 4 has hardly had anything. yet they are totally different looks to each other.

mummyeme · 31/03/2008 19:38

Hi,
Dd whose 3 hasn't had much either. Tons of castings and job when she was at an age thats meant to be quieter 18 months - 2.5. Just before she was 3 she was cast for a feature film and a featured child in it, they loved her and her look, but since then not too much has happened although we've had a few checks and a casting. dds 3 so I thought things would pick up (thats what I've read) at this age, but so far it's been quite quiet.
I think as long as you've got a good agent (that works for you) then it's just a case of being patient.
When dd was littler she was on the books about 3 months before we heard anything and then she had at least 1 or 2 castings a month.
Good luck, and I'm sure things will start happening.
Theres one mum who was worried a while ago about moving agents and since then her ds is doing phenomenally well!!!

brooke77 · 31/03/2008 20:01

hi mummyeme.. thats interesting ! my dd who is 18 months has been with agency for 2 months and we've heard nothing, so i was wondering if i'd chosen the right agent ! also as BB and UA will be opening their books soon was really thinking whether to apply to them. but i agree with what you've said.. patience is important. think i will bide my time for a few more months and see ! i'd be really interested to hear from the mum whos changed agents and her views.. hows it going now? wishing everyone all the best xx

julie4travel · 02/04/2008 07:46

good luck to all waiting to hear on castings jobs etc.

we didnt get confirmed on our two castings, yet got down to final four boys on one of them so are happy with that. onwards and upwards so i keep saying.

brooke77 - by changing agent to one of the top ones we waited 3 months for a first casting so even if you do swop over agents when there books are open you might staill have a wait for things to happen. saying that moving to them was the best move we ever made for my ds.

ichef · 02/04/2008 14:55

Quick question: how long does it usually take for agencies to reply and most importantly do they always reply even if it's a no?

brooke77 · 02/04/2008 16:38

Hi ichef.. When I applied to several agencies I heard back that day or in a day or so from those who were interested. One no came quickly and another a week or so later, one agency i didnt hear from at all. I think they can all be very different with their reply times and I dont know if the time of year you apply makes any difference. Which agencies did u apply to? Did you apply by post or email?

julie4travel · 02/04/2008 17:04

ichef - bb took 3 and half weeks for us for an answer, kl were very quick within a week or so to give us a no. i found agents were very quick to reply. i did find most agents let us know one way or another.

ichef · 02/04/2008 19:31

Applied to most agencies: b&b, kl, mot, rascals, sw, alphabet kids, bizzy kids and norrie carr only kl applied by post and so far heard from sw, bk and ak but from what I heard I would really like them to go with mot, kl or b&b if they're accepted so I guess I'm just gonna have to wait and see, fingers crossed

lilylu · 02/04/2008 20:06

ichef..SW are a very good agency.. my ds was with them. if you've had a yes from them, i def wouldnt discount them ! although i know their start up fees are quite high.

lyndall · 02/04/2008 22:41

Hello ichef - in response to your question: KL were very quick to reply with a yes (about three days if I remember correctly). B&B also said yes but took over a month to respond to my email. MOT took a fortnight roughly to reply but said no. SW, Bizzykids, Elizabeth Smith and Norrie Carr requested an assessment, I can't remember how long each one took to respond but it was between a week to three weeks. You should hear back very soon from KL.

perfumelady · 03/04/2008 17:34

hi it's ben ages since i've been on here and it's lovely to see some names that i still recognise. how is everyone?

gracemargaret · 03/04/2008 18:06

Hi all - my dd 7 is really really happy today as she just got her 3rd job in as many months Do people find schools are OK about kids taking time off - ours have been brilliant so far and job next week is in Easter hols which is convenient but I'm just wondering is there a maximum no. of days a year schools permit as a rule? Quite new to so just wondering what others experience has been.

Good luck to everyone,

totallyfloaty35 · 03/04/2008 18:36

HI,schools will give up to 10 days authorised abscence but some get very funny about it,is it your DD thats with BK?
Jobs in holidays are a real plus who is your dd working for?
Perfume, how lovely to see you on here, what are your DDs up to these days? my elder ones have just joined Italia Conti.Baby DD gets the most work but its been very quiet for them lately x

gracemargaret · 03/04/2008 18:57

Yes she is with BK who have been fab. The shoot is John Richmond (Felicity wishes last week) but our hols are a bit different to the rest of country. I'm away with work all next week though so dh taking her - very jealous!

10 days not much - school gave me some work to do with her on train last time which was nice (not sure she'd agree!).

littlemadam · 03/04/2008 20:54

Hi gracemargaret. My DS has been optioned but not confirmed for John Richmond. Have you had a day confirmed?? Good luck to your daughter, my DS has done them three times and they are the best shoots he has ever done!

gracemargaret · 03/04/2008 22:12

littlemadam · 04/04/2008 14:20

Best of luck everyone else on castings/jobs, mine are back at school next week, isn't Easter strange this year - we've had quite a short holiday, but because of it break up on the 4th July Good news tho as have got a great deal on a holiday!!

mummyeme · 04/04/2008 18:54

Hi,
Ichef, hows it going, have you heard back from any more agencies yet?

Does anyone know whether a doctors letter can just say the child is fit and healthy, or does it have to specifically state that they are fit and healthy for child modelling. Got a different doctor today who said they will not write a letter with regard to modelling but one which says dd is fit and healthy only. Never had this before but unfortunately it is purely luck of the draw which doctor you see unless you book 3 wks in advance. Can anyone help please, as don't want to pay for the letter and it's the wrong thing.
Thanks very much

littlemadam · 04/04/2008 19:00

Mummeme, I'd check what your agent/LA wants, I know BK used to give a proforma out, but current agent doesn't. I think it depends what your LA need to issue a licence. Good luck!

mummyeme · 04/04/2008 19:35

Thankyou, my doctor will generally even print me a letter while I'm there too, so I wouldn't have to pay and have never made an issue of including child modelling in it. Hey ho

JAZZ4494 · 04/04/2008 20:06

Hi everyone, my dd has just been accepted by KL last week, so i'm hoping that this site will give me lots of usefull tips in photographic work and advise if i need help.Which i probably will, as i know it's an industry where you have to have a thick skin.

gracemargaret · 04/04/2008 20:19

littlemadam - dh taking dd next week as I'm at work all week . Just got train tickets booked at last. Well done to your ds - they must really like him! Hope you all have a lovely time .

littlemadam · 04/04/2008 21:08

Of course, sorry I forgot!!
I'm sure she'll have a great time - look forward to meeting her - fantastic pics in Junior!

ichef · 06/04/2008 19:22

mummyeme - we finally got news from kl which is great, I thought it was slightly odd that they didn't want to meet the kids but a couple of friends said that's normal so we're hoping it will work out, we also had a big no from mot and got a lovely email from Alysia from ua, so if things dont work out with kl we'll try ua in June but we'll see how it goes.
we have lots going on at the moment with us trying to find the perfect house and deciding on school issues and getting sorted in the uk so no time for modeling yet hopefully it will be a while until we start going to castings although I'm not sure I'd complain if we were to get one straight away!

anyone who's had a baby put him/her in an agency straight away? or waited a few months? is there such thing as work for newborns? dh would kill me if he read this, i'm already thinking of modeling for the unborn child .
