littleboo · 17/03/2008 10:21

liahgen, yes thanks will check them all out and get some photos sent off.

julie4travel · 17/03/2008 13:03

littleboo - just take your time in selection the best option for your los, i took ages chosing who to go with! go with who you think is right. i know its hard!

mummyeme · 17/03/2008 18:59

Ta
Good luck to all with castings, Rubystarr, how are you getting on with sw?

christabel · 17/03/2008 21:57

Mummyeme You said you were with DK in Sheffield. How long was it before you got work and did you hear from them on a regular basis. Which agency are you with now.

mummyeme · 18/03/2008 18:20

Hi Christabel,
Sorry not me, was with bk, Bizzykidz and didn't have the greatest experience. If you haven't heard much from dk you could always give them a call and keep yourself in their mind (if that makes sense), they may offer you to send in new pics and definitely update measurements (can be crucial, my updates hadn't been processed yet a foot size one had so she was listed as being 90cms with size 8 feet!!!!!, I guess she may have been cast for big foot). I have read from a few people who've mentioned dk as a reputable agency though if that helps!

mummyeme · 23/03/2008 17:57

Hello,
Where is everybody, having a brilliant easter I hope!!!!!
Dd has a casting yipppeeee! Was just hoping someone could advise me what she should wear, hasn't had one in a while so want to make sure I get it right.
Thanks in advance

dancerdeb · 23/03/2008 18:55

Hi Mummyeme , thats fantastic news!!
Happy Easter to you and yours as well
I would advise somethng not complicated and a colour that suits her, basically something that she feels comfortable in, best of luck, do let us know how it goes.

Good news mummyeme and good luck to ur dd ! Whats the casting for.. photo or commercial etc? When going to castings with my ds most of the time they were straight from school so often many kids were in their school uniform. I agree with dancerdeb.. nothing too fancy, good colours and something your dd is happy wearing. They're not really looking at the clothes anyway just the child and their overall look. All the best !

mummyeme · 23/03/2008 19:46

Hi,
Thanks for good wishes, fingers crossedx It's for photographic I think ,when we used to go I really dressed her up, best clothes etc. and think it may have overwhelmed things a bit. She's got the dreaded cold at the mo(fine in herself), so hopefully her little red nose will be gone, or she'll be cast as rudolph 08 instead.
Thanks again and good luck to everyone else too!
Happy easter

gracemargaret · 23/03/2008 22:35

agree with previous posts - I always go very simple with dd - skinny jeans, black vest and dance shoes/flats - always think too fussy might leave them remembering the clothes instead of the face! Hope your dd's cold goes in time for casting,

Good Luck :}

Hi all! We have recently moved to London, I'm originally from Sweden and my husband is British, we were relocated to the US three months after we got married and just managed to move back, we have two kids who used to do some modelling in the US and I would like to put them in an agency here as well, so I've been reading this thread and other websites and I have a friend who's with Urban Angels and swears by them, the question is: according to their website they will only accept new applications from about May/June, is it worth waiting or should I try other reputable agencies in the meantime?

totallyfloaty35 · 24/03/2008 14:10

ichef i have 3 dds who all model and they are all with different agents,bb,kl and u/a and without a doubt u/a are the nicest to deal with by a long shot.

ichef · 24/03/2008 16:21

totallyfloaty35 - thanks for the advice, do you think the amount of work is around the same at all three agencies? Also would you say that certain agencies are better for certain ages?
I must say that I'm completely put off by KL's application method, too much of a hassle having to post photos if you ask me, we're in 2008!!!
Still undecided if I should try other agencies now or wait until May/June for Urban Angels.

brooke77 · 24/03/2008 16:41

I'd say no harm in trying other agencies now to see if your children are accepted. Anyway May is only a little over a month away.. Good luck with it !

mummyeme · 24/03/2008 19:52

Hi,
Ichef
Apply to kl, b&b and mot for now and see how you get on, also there are other reputable agencies: Scallywags, NCA, Elizabeth Smith and Rascals(but they are more expensive to join). Even when u/a books open they don't necessarilly open for all age groups, sometimes only certain ones. If you decide to wait for u/a I'd give them a ring now and make sure the books will be open for your childrens ages in may/june.
Good luck, let us know how you get on.

Thanks to everyone else for your help

christabel · 24/03/2008 22:17

Mummyeme Good luck with Casting. My DD has a casting tomorrow in Manchester and is full of cold too - never seen her nose so red. She said she may not be well enough and I feel guilty saying to her 'oh you'll be ok'.

julie4travel · 24/03/2008 22:36

mummyeyme - good luck for your casting, whats it for?

ichef - kl are very quick replying even by posting an application, they were quicker that bbs online application. i would apply to them and see how you get on. bb may reply just before uas books open then you can see what you think. if ua invite you for assesement they dont necessarily take on al the kids that go for assesment.

we have a casting tommorow which is a 50s theme so been scraping around for 50s clothes just for a casting! bet we get wierd looks on the train and tube!

i normally change my kiddies out of school uniform as there is some colours which work better for each child so i try to use certain tops etc for castings!

good luck to all with castings/jobs this week

ichef · 25/03/2008 12:19

Thanks all for all the information, will start applying to all the agencies mentioned, fingers crossed they're taken.

brooke77 · 25/03/2008 12:22

Good luck ichef ! Keep us posted..

ichef · 25/03/2008 12:36

I noticed that a lot of people mention Alba.info as a source for good agencies, having a look through their list I found some agencies and wondered if anyone has any feedback on them? Elliott Brown, Movie Mites, Super Arts and Truly Scrumptious?
Thanks for the help.

liahgen · 25/03/2008 16:10

Have heard of TS, my friend was with them, didn't get loads tbh. but well known agency. heard of MM aswell but no experience.
sorry can't be more help.

Anyone going to Mothercare casting Thursday morning? Have asked for my 4 yr boy if any of you got similar.

julie4travel · 26/03/2008 08:12

ichef - we were with ts and we had 2 castings and 1 job in a year, i got some fab pictures from the job she did yet we didnt make back the fees we paid out - joining fees and photoshoot (i think it was about £200 or more all in all)
also they only take on once a year so therefore if you applied now you wouldn't get represented till jan 09. unless they have changed this year.

i think i have seen movie mites names on casting sheets yet not on a job.

lilylu · 26/03/2008 12:28
