Welcome back ladies.

Anyone up for a spot of competitive baking?

Thought we might kick off with the classic Lemon Drizzle Cake but with a twist. Not only will this test out baking skills, but a fair wodge of points will be awarded for selection and photography of said cake somewhere nice.

I will be inviting the MN Patron of the LDC, MarsLady to be this weeks judge.

So rules are.

Make a LDC. Recipe here

Take cake to somewhere outdoorsy and pleasant on the eye, or historical.

Photograph cake.

Eat cake (optional).

Photograph cake being eaten (optional).

Upload photos here.
Username: MNLDC
Password:mumsnet

Entries are anonymous (as per usual).

Deadline for entries is next sunday (16th) by 10pm.**All rules are subject to change by the judge and whoever puts up a good argument for having them changed.

Think that's it. Anyone fancy it?

Newcomers always welcome.

at MrsJC, loved your photos

Meridian · 26/09/2007 11:33

did anyone acctually attempt to be annonomous? the cakes all look lovely though so surely that must count for something with our most magnificant judge.

ChippyMinton · 26/09/2007 11:37

When's the judging?

MrsFish · 26/09/2007 13:37

We tried to be anonymous at the start, but when the deadline passed first time round we sort of gave ourselves away

Slubberdegullion · 26/09/2007 16:23

Chippy I think the judging might be tonight. Or maybe not. It's hard to say. maybe the LDC comp will span the entire autumn season and will come to a close on Dec1st or something.

Mars is in charge.

Still loling @ MrsJC's epic adventure.

I don't want it to extend. Or I could have taken it out today as the sun is shining now, and I only have one child to bore senseless today

oh and we have eaten most of the cake anyway

Slubberdegullion · 27/09/2007 19:50

Oh My Word, It's finally happening.

I don't expect any extra points for that btw

Aloe aloe aloe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Entrant 6 takes it (despite and yet because of the limes)

With special mention to entrant 3 for that particular lemony zestiness!

(mine look more like entrant 4.... eaten!)

Slubberdegullion · 27/09/2007 20:28

Oh well done Califrau

Not sure who entrant 3 is tbh but polite appluase nevertheless to you.

Mars are you not going to give MrsJC a special commendation for her epic adventure? Have you seen all the photos on her face book. That's devotion to the cake if ever I've seen it.

Well done ladies.

Thank you also to our judge MarsLady, who was terribly patient and kindly put the judging date back several times.

I hope the sight of so many (well 7) LDC's (well I think it's only 5 and some rogue cup cakes but lets not dwell on the numbers),

I hope the sight of these LDC's lovingly displayed, and in all the corners of the world, will be a source of pride for you for many years to come.

MarsLady · 27/09/2007 20:35

She has a Facebook entry?????????????????

Don't be polishing that cup yet Cali! lol

Slubberdegullion · 27/09/2007 20:37

That's quite an award you've got there Califrau. LDC gold medal winner. That's a pretty special MN honour. I'd flash that about a bit on the heirachy thread if I were you.

Slubberdegullion · 27/09/2007 20:38

yep Mars, go down to Sept 25th 11.29 I think, her link is there.

OP posts:
MrsFish · 27/09/2007 20:40

I was entrant 3

thanks marslady Oh and the cake was divine, I ate most of it

Slubberdegullion · 27/09/2007 20:46

Well done to you Mrs Fish.

So no mention of nice firm looking loaf by lovely village pond that was in on time eh? Interesting.

OP posts:
MrsFish · 27/09/2007 20:48

I think the next comp needs to definitely go back in the recipe section, although whether I will make the next one is another matter, as am due this lo on sunday

Slubberdegullion · 27/09/2007 20:50

Oh good luck and best wishes to you MrsFish (although having a baby is a fairly lamo excuse for not entering a MNWI comp). Where's your loyalty woman.

I'm off on holiday on sat so will be outta MN for a week.

I guess we could reform at Christmas to do a MNWI/UCM's Christmas cake comp.

I think it's in the bag Califrau. I'm sure the prize is yours. Unless you were taking illegal doping substances when you made the cake.

There's never been a need for a urine analysis on a MNWI comp before but you know, MRJC may launch a protest. She did drive up a scary road.
