Welcome back ladies.

Anyone up for a spot of competitive baking?

Thought we might kick off with the classic Lemon Drizzle Cake but with a twist. Not only will this test out baking skills, but a fair wodge of points will be awarded for selection and photography of said cake somewhere nice.

I will be inviting the MN Patron of the LDC, MarsLady to be this weeks judge.

So rules are.

Make a LDC. Recipe here

Take cake to somewhere outdoorsy and pleasant on the eye, or historical.

Photograph cake.

Eat cake (optional).

Photograph cake being eaten (optional).

Upload photos here.
Username: MNLDC
Password:mumsnet

Entries are anonymous (as per usual).

Deadline for entries is next sunday (16th) by 10pm.**All rules are subject to change by the judge and whoever puts up a good argument for having them changed.

Think that's it. Anyone fancy it?

Newcomers always welcome.

er Califrau I suspect Mars may just notice. Crikey the woman has a zestiness box on her check list.

The LDC is a super speedy cake to whip up.
I was hoping to see one with the Hollywood sign in the background.

ChippyMinton · 16/09/2007 19:21

Sorry, I have failed to find the time to enter this week. Look forward to seeing and (virtual) sampling everyone's entrries though. Good luck

Slubberdegullion · 16/09/2007 19:26

Oh dear. Only 2 entries so far, and one of them isn't even a LDC.

Is this the death knell for the MNWI??????

Meridian · 16/09/2007 20:05

I'm ever so sorry but I er didn't make an LDC today, we never went anywhere but asda and I didn't think that was astetically pleasing enough I..er.. did make an Upside down Peach Cake I promise I'll do the next contest.. please don't bar me from the MNWI

Slubberdegullion · 16/09/2007 20:09

Bloody Nora look at that Peach Pie. I think we need to ban you from the MNWI forthwith Meridian for being a professional cook.

That's the best looking pudding I've seen in quite some time. at your skill.

Bewilderbeast · 16/09/2007 20:17

oh man that upside down cake is making me droool!

Meridian · 16/09/2007 20:23

thank you..I'm not professional but I do like to cook.. everything I know I learned from my dad.. the rest I made up ... my mom can't cook she would probably manage to burn water...

Meridian · 16/09/2007 20:26

the cake did turn out lovely though.. especially drizzled in double cream .. speaking of I best go cart some round to frizbe's house before I fall asleep!

Slubberdegullion · 16/09/2007 20:32

Lucky old frizbe .

Right I'm off to bed, pathetic I know but 4am start this morning.

Mars if you do look in, I'm terribly sorry for the current poor turn out. LL and MrsJC did say they were entering so maybe hold off the judging until tomorrow.

MrsFish · 16/09/2007 20:33

MarsLady · 16/09/2007 20:36

Tsk tsk tsk!!!!!!!!!!!!! Points may will be deducted!

I rushed home from a very important meeting lazing at the local community festival for this sigh........................

I'll be ready to judge tomorrow!

MarsLady · 16/09/2007 20:36

Ok.... I'll wait a week!

Frizbe · 16/09/2007 21:22

'Thread Crash' yep lucky old Frizbe Cake is fabulous I can report!!
I do think I'll never be slim though, so long as I live near Meridian ho hum

Slubberdegullion · 17/09/2007 09:29

Oh thank you Mars for being so patient with us.

Can I point out in a completely anonymous just passing the time of day musing to myself manner, that maybe those entrants that got their pictures in on time should recieve extra credit.

OP posts:
MrsFish · 17/09/2007 10:11

I agree ;)

ChippyMinton · 17/09/2007 14:55

And BANG goes the anonymity of the two entries

Meridian · 17/09/2007 15:42

I'll have to confess to the other one then.

don't think we are doing much of anything special this week and have just noticed that my lemons are rather manky looking so will need to fetch some more.

I'm ever so sorry for not doing my homework.

willukee · 17/09/2007 21:36

Slubberdegullion · 18/09/2007 16:52

Oh hello you I had forgotten that an actual and RL MNer had eaten my entry.

willukee will vouch for its zestiness.

And the lovely natural English setting.

Sod anonymity, at least my entry isn't a whole frickin week late.
