Welcome back ladies.

Anyone up for a spot of competitive baking?

Thought we might kick off with the classic Lemon Drizzle Cake but with a twist. Not only will this test out baking skills, but a fair wodge of points will be awarded for selection and photography of said cake somewhere nice.

I will be inviting the MN Patron of the LDC, MarsLady to be this weeks judge.

So rules are.

Make a LDC. Recipe here

Take cake to somewhere outdoorsy and pleasant on the eye, or historical.

Photograph cake.

Eat cake (optional).

Photograph cake being eaten (optional).

Upload photos here.
Username: MNLDC
Password:mumsnet

Entries are anonymous (as per usual).

Deadline for entries is next sunday (16th) by 10pm.**All rules are subject to change by the judge and whoever puts up a good argument for having them changed.

Think that's it. Anyone fancy it?

Newcomers always welcome.

Just posting so I can find the thread again

Didn't we do these in the Recipe forum before? thats why I couldn't find it

Slubberdegullion · 22/09/2007 10:28

Just bumping this is the vain hope that there might be a few more entries, and jog the memories of those who said they would enter.

MrsFish, couldn't decide between here or recipes. Maybe that is the reason for the paultry turn out.

We have Builders (the way other people have piles) and my cake tins are in a plastic bag in the garden. Honest, honest, really, for real...

Slubberdegullion · 22/09/2007 10:37

It's OK MI, people have busy lives, and people with their busy lives just choose not to prioritise cake, and virtual cake competitions on the net, and belonging to a fantasy WI as highly as let's say spending time with their children or partners.

I was a fool to expect anything else.

I am VERY VERY VERY jealous of people who have indoor cake tins at the moment.

motherinferior · 22/09/2007 10:39

And I could get very huffy, you know, at the imputation that I have chosen not to prioritise cake in my life. People have flounced for yet. Bugger the SAHM/WOHM debates.

MrsFish · 22/09/2007 10:41

Perhaps we should post it in the Recipes section where it used to be??? then wait ANOTHER WEEK?

motherinferior · 22/09/2007 10:42

We could knock on doors, asking if people have Let Cake Into Their Lives.

MrsJohnCusack · 22/09/2007 10:43

have I got til tomorrow?

I might manage it tomorrow morning. I have been soooooo busy, and ill, and my baby does not sleep for more than 3 hours in a row and wont be put down in the day either, grrrrrrrrr

Slubberdegullion · 22/09/2007 10:45

Well MI , out of the kindness of my heart I found you some nice pictures of cake tins to ease your longing here.

But hey I'm just amazed that anyone who claims to hold cake up as one of their life's priorities would not be organised enough to hold a few back 'just in case' they were required at short notice.

eh? eh?

oh, and the dog ate my homework

Slubberdegullion · 22/09/2007 10:46

babies, illness, builders, wrong topic......will the list of random excuses never cease?

Heartshaped cakes! Ooooh! The Inferiorettes and I are very, very impressed.

Slubberdegullion · 22/09/2007 10:48

Oh just spotted those....pretty!

Our house is a building site (you don't want to know, you really don't). DP did a crazed tidy-out-of-the-way on our return from hols. I shall however find it imperative to nip out at lunchtime one of these days to the nearby Johnny Loulou's, and purchase the wherewithal for chocolate cupcakes. Or possibly lemon ones (with that boyjian lemon oil).

motherinferior · 22/09/2007 10:50

heartshaped cupcakes.

MrsJohnCusack · 22/09/2007 10:53

oh so so so so so at ability to pop to lovely John Lewis. I do miss it

have realised I have some heart shaped mini tins

so look, is tomorrow the official closing date now then? will try to make cake and drive to suitable location tomorrow AM if so before spending the afternoon in purgatory of dreadful concert

Slubberdegullion · 22/09/2007 11:07

MrsJC, MarsLady has the ultimate power, wouldn't suprise me if she gave another week of extended leave for tardy entrants to complete their LDC (because she seems nice...if I was the judge things would be different).

What concert of purgatory do you have to attend?

OP posts:
Slubberdegullion · 22/09/2007 11:11

Right off to swimming, will return for (?futile) bumping later.

OP posts:
MrsJohnCusack · 22/09/2007 11:16

I have to participate in said concert, a favour for a lovely man who unfortunately has composed a dreadful piece of 'music'. I said yes before I realised how purely awful it would be. after rehearsal last night I whispered to my friend 'that's 90 minutes of my life I'm never getting back'. Have to spend 3.5 frickin hours of my precious weekend doing it tomorrow. gah

enjoy the swim

Slubberdegullion · 22/09/2007 14:40

MrsJC, sounds awful. 3.5 hrs of it too, that's.... 4 LDC's you could have baked in the same amount of time.

Now follows a weary MNWI bump.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 24/09/2007 08:42

soooo, I actually made a LDC. BUT forgot to take a picture of it until it was half eaten. sooooooo, the only pictures i have are of it in the midst of the remains of DS's birthday celebration.
Does that count as a place of interest??
