Welcome back ladies.

Anyone up for a spot of competitive baking?

Thought we might kick off with the classic Lemon Drizzle Cake but with a twist. Not only will this test out baking skills, but a fair wodge of points will be awarded for selection and photography of said cake somewhere nice.

I will be inviting the MN Patron of the LDC, MarsLady to be this weeks judge.

So rules are.

Make a LDC. Recipe here

Take cake to somewhere outdoorsy and pleasant on the eye, or historical.

Photograph cake.

Eat cake (optional).

Photograph cake being eaten (optional).

Upload photos here.
Username: MNLDC
Password:mumsnet

Entries are anonymous (as per usual).

Deadline for entries is next sunday (16th) by 10pm.**All rules are subject to change by the judge and whoever puts up a good argument for having them changed.

Think that's it. Anyone fancy it?

Newcomers always welcome.

Hey PMDW is there any way of alerting the MNWI on facebook that this is happening? Seeing as you are the founder and all.

No power struggle here Chippy. MNWI is an all embracing cake baking commune of love and support.

Small but perfectly formed 9oz butter (although I prefer Stork in my LDC) evening bump.

Our cookery guru brought in the most amazingly fabulous chocolate cake in one of those flutey ring moulds today. It will appear iced with white chocolate, apparently, in the Christmas edition.

The four or five slices I ate were delicious.

Slubberdegullion · 11/09/2007 19:31

lol MI. Some complete bastard several months back did a calory count of the LDC, was the sum total of an average 6'5" norwegian lumberjacks weekly (recomemnded) calory intake.

If you do enter your LDC it can't be photographed in a studio this week, Oh no, it's gotta have an outdoorsy inspirational look, or with a castle in the back for gravitas.

Ah, but I do a breakaway LDC, from Hoxtonchick's DP's mum. And sometimes I make it with Seville oranges.

I was thinking of ligging onto one of the more aspirational shoots, the ones in a house or garden.

A Cake Moggeling thread, yet.

Slubberdegullion · 11/09/2007 19:38

MarsLady will know I'm sure, she's seen the innards of an LDC too many times I'll bet and could spot even the tiniest move away from the purists lemon drizzle.

Oh go on LL push the metaphorical boat out.

In my imagination MrsJC is paddling a canoe across the Milford sound with her LDC superglued on the end waiting for a dolphin to leap out of the water.

Right off to boring commitee meeting now....but tomorrow night it's my first RL WI meet

and it's all about puddings

Tentatively thinking about maybe considering that, if it's ok, I might have a go.
Maybe my mum will stop banging on about her RL WI (of which she is president) if I join the MNWI

MrsJohnCusack · 11/09/2007 20:08

Mine will be made with fresh lemons from my own garden...

purplemonkeydishwasher · 11/09/2007 21:06

you know how when Slubs entered the RL VSC comp and there were these RULES that everyone KNEW but no one talked about?? Is this like that?
what are we STRIVING for here? What is the epitomy(sp?) of LDC perfection?

Slubberdegullion · 12/09/2007 09:52

MrsJC, lemons from my own garden......SWOT.

PMDW, I think the unknowingness of what is LDC perfection is making this an edgy comp. I mean we could have a single shaft of golden autumnal light shining through one of the arches at Stone Henge, illuminating a LDC on the cental stone altar....but hey if there's not enough sugary drippage down the sides then it's a looser.

Only MarsLady knows....or maybe she's just waiting to see if the ultimate LDC is about to be created.
