spoke to my superman this morning, he was about to be pounced upon by physios so wasnt best pleased.

He has had a new IV in, so hoping the central line will be out later. He seems so much better, and is joking about. Cant belive its been a week since our lives changed within moments. He is hoping to be home in about 4-5 weeks, if all carries on well. I cant wait to see him, and give him a hug with no wires and tubes getting in the way. To have him back in our bed, the bed we bought and he slept in for about 3 weeks only.

i am thinking of writing a letter soon to the donor family.

misdee - just back from hols and total internet deprivation - your news was the first thing I hunted for, as I left the night of the transplant. So, so thrilled for you and Peter and the girls.

HOw is Peter today? And how are you and the girls doing?

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 29/08/2007 19:16

well peter-fans.
Today he went outside for the first time. in a wheelchair, but outside. he is being treated like a celebrity, and so many people know him. he had an echocardiogram done today, and a biopsy of his new heart is due this week to check for rejection. he walked from outside the unit back to his room as well. he is doing so so well. i have taken more pictures so will upload those later to the blog.

he recieved 3 cards today (lgj, oj and someone else)so thank you for those. my shopping list for this week is new slippers lol.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 29/08/2007 19:22

Fantastic LVOC

carrieannesmum · 29/08/2007 20:41

Fantastic news. I'm so pleased all is going well. Miss J e-mailed me and said she had seen it on london tonight and was so pleased she sends her best wishes too. Are you all organised for school now? See you Tuesday if not before

Frizbe · 29/08/2007 20:42

so very happy for you all

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 29/08/2007 20:51

thanks carrieannesmum, i think i';m all sorted but lauren has suddenly shot up in the last two weeks, so i need to check her uniform is the right size still, i think i bought age 7/8 just to be safe for her anyway lol.

peter has a new portable vac pump. which is very as it makes farting noises. the looks of disgust from an elderly couple next to him in the ECHO dept were just priceless. AND i was able to leave him for a few minutes unattended to nip to the water dispenser i havent been able to do that for over two years! transplant co-ordinator stopped for a chat, she says its going to be a massive period of adjustment for the whole family. and next year she expects peter to be running marathons

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 29/08/2007 20:55

Misdee......

He is welcome, I chuckled as I put the pink heart in the post.

carrieannesmum · 29/08/2007 21:03

So we should all blame Peter for any farting noises at the school gates then It would have been funny to see that couples faces, if only they had any idea of what you've been through in the past few years! I know what you mean about growing children Carrie-Anne seems to have shot up again. We could start a new trend with 3/4 length trousers for school! Keep smiling it suits you

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 29/08/2007 21:04

Oh misdee he'd do well in the transplant games. High jump or long jump as he's so tall.

What's happening with the Vac pump - when will he be rid of it, any idea?

MrsWeasley · 29/08/2007 21:11

I cant beleive he is up and about already. Excellent news

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 29/08/2007 21:18

another couple of weeks and the pump should go, then he can come home!

i did offer to learn how to do those dressings so we can get him home quicker buts its not really something that can be done outside the hospital. so just sitting tight. two weeks today since transplant and it still feels so unreal.

carrieannesmum, you really wont know me at the school gates, i dont think i have smiled this much in ages.

I"m so thrilled for you misdee. Is Peter non-stop smiling too?

MaureenMLove · 29/08/2007 21:57

Don't rush it LVOC, there's light at the end of the tunnel, he'll be home, safe and sound, soon enough! Have you got rid of the hospital bed at home yet?
