spoke to my superman this morning, he was about to be pounced upon by physios so wasnt best pleased.

He has had a new IV in, so hoping the central line will be out later. He seems so much better, and is joking about. Cant belive its been a week since our lives changed within moments. He is hoping to be home in about 4-5 weeks, if all carries on well. I cant wait to see him, and give him a hug with no wires and tubes getting in the way. To have him back in our bed, the bed we bought and he slept in for about 3 weeks only.

i am thinking of writing a letter soon to the donor family.

I have just read this thread as have been away a bit over the summer. I just wanted to say how brilliant your news is. I have lurked for a very long time on/at/over your posts and have followed your news with admiration, sympathy and horror. I am so so so delighted to hear that Peter is on a brand new path to health and that your family is getting such a wonderful chance of happiness.

I always thought your posts were full of strength, humour and courage and I really admire you. HAPPY HAPPY DAYS to you all.

Squiffy · 30/08/2007 09:01

from a lurker to your thread

Peter now looks a bit yummy
And his new heart is working just scrummy
To our tears and our cheers
He is now pink round the ears.
Though he still has to hoover his tummy

so pleased it is all going so well, Misdee

callmeovercautious · 30/08/2007 11:49

LOL

Have been away for nearly 4 weeks and just got back to read the fantastic news about Peter. It has put a smile on my face, glad he is "in the pink!"

triplets · 30/08/2007 17:22

Misdee,
I have been away for 4 weeks but a fellow mumsnetter told me the wonderful news yesterday and I went all goosey and could have cried, so so very happy for you all, wonderful news. Harry and I have been on the organ donation register for years since our son collapsed and died in 1994. So many people are afraid to take this step, lets hope more people have the courage.

onlyjoking9329 · 30/08/2007 17:41

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear that he is doing so well and only 2 weeks on from the Op.

Misdee - those photos have really made my day You all look so happy. Peter looks just great and I'll go to bed smiling (almost) as widely as you!

A few years ago my cousin had a heart lung transplant.
When I see her I feel really strange like she is a bit of a walking miracle. I hope she doesn't know thats what I think because I don't want her to feel different. She just gets on with life and takes care of herself with much more respect for her body than I have
Peter is an inspiration.
I feel quite moved when I see the pictures. He makes gorgeous babies(with a little help from you of course)
Thankyou for finding the time to share this great news Misdee

well done peter, it's good to hear he's doing so well!!

vac pumps are fabulous things... i like using them (although have never noticed farty noises.. will listen out next time!)

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 30/08/2007 23:26

only on the small portable one. the big one didnt fart.

OP posts:
saralou · 30/08/2007 23:33

aaah... we don't use the portables

are they dainty little farts or noisy man farts, out of interest?

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 30/08/2007 23:47

bit of both really
