Layering up is indeed the best way to stay warm as the weather turns chilly. Fortunately HBFs also come with cloaks and coats which makes them doubly effective Grin

Grin at successful start to the day being measured in catvom levels

Happy Halloween wenches I bloody hate it. Cold, dark and depressing here.

Funny thread WW.

Helen your DS's black eye reminds me of the time DD had a loose front tooth and her uncle knocked it out playing with her. It was school photos the next day and I was livid.

LetUsPrey · 31/10/2018 19:01

Evening wenches. Not a big fan of Halloween here either Apricot. Howeve, an unexpected upside of getting home late because of diversion is that I seem to have missed the bulk of the trick or treaters. DS2 is also thrilled with this because he reckons he gets all the sweets that aren’t given away Grin

Grin at school photo mishaps

Sigh it’s 7pm and DS2 hasn’t even started his homework.

The advantage of living in the sticks, is that there is no such thing as trick or treat. My neighbour did try once - I opened the door to 11yo by herself and looked bemused until he father appeared behind her saying 'Trick or treat?' in an equally bemused way. So I asked for a joke, and then wandered off to raid DS' haribo stash for her. The experiment was never repeated again. Halloween Grin

Hope everyone's had a good day. We're watching Horrible History Scary Stories while DS works on homework.

ApricotCrush · 31/10/2018 19:33

That's hilarious Helen. We've had no visitors, so the stash will be DGS's eventually.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 31/10/2018 21:17

Is everyone else out Trick-or-Treating? Just me and Apricot and a whole tavern full of HBFs? Shock
Lucky us Grin

FancyFancy · 31/10/2018 22:00

Nope, just late back from work helen - which means I missed the trick or treaters too - all that lovely Haribo left for me Grin We've had a few fireworks here too - ScaredyCat is not impressed. FancyCat is struggling to give a shit.

LetUsPrey · 31/10/2018 22:11

I’ve been being a housework type person. Washing, dishes, tidying, eventually remembering that DS2 hadn’t gone to bed.

Love the trick or treating at yours Helen Grin

We had quite a few —billions— more surprisingly. They were all very lovely and polite and grateful when I said they could take a few sweets.

I’m watching Condor on Universal. Sort of a spy thriller thing I think. Max Irons is in it.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 31/10/2018 22:12

at FancyCat. Though if we're being literal, I don't really there being much struggle in her efforts to stink out your house Wink Well done on keeping all the Haribo for yourself (and DD) though. I've had the lights on all evening and everything. (I remember at the last (less rural) place we spent one Halloween sitting with the lights out because we just couldn't be arsed Grin )

Today, twitter has told me that Simon Allen (of Musketeer script writing/exec producering etc) is writing and showrunning a series based on Terry Pratchett's Watch books. And I forget if anyone here has any interest in Terry Pratchett

LetUsPrey · 31/10/2018 22:25

I’ve tried Terry Pratchett Helen, but I don’t know if I started with a set that wasn’t for me IYSWIM. Hang on.... Equal Rites. Took me ages to read it, although I wasn’t in my reading frame of mind back then. Where do I start with the Watch books?

The HBFs are trick or treating. Definitely going with treat with some special tricks Grin

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 31/10/2018 22:57

'Guards, Guards!', then 'Men at Arms' - see www.terrypratchettbooks.com/types/discworld-by-character/
Equal Rites isn't one I've read repeatedly, so in my head it's not one of the best ones Grin Though I do like the witches.

Anyway - lots of treats with some interesting tricks you say?

LetUsPrey · 31/10/2018 23:13

I shall give those a whirl now I’ve hopefully got my reading head back on, helped in large part by Cormoran Strike. Wenches who are so inclined may want to express gratitude on my behalf

I can recommend Condor. Max Irons is very —lovely— good.

Hayloft for me too. A large helping of Paella I think.

Morning wenches.

Hope the sunshine is where you need it to be Apricot. It’s certainly not here.

How are you feeling Wicked?

I’m tired, my hip’s hurting (would be helped if I did my exercises Blush), and I’ve got a spot on my nose.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/11/2018 07:58

Morning. RainyMcRainface here. Though not cold (no coat required when letting the chickens out this morning). Hope there's a nice patch of sunshine over Apricot's caravan today, bathing the area in warmth and light. Failing that, I hope Apricot has a warm coat, umbrella, and thick duvet.

LetUs - I suspect (hope) that you sore hip is down to too much exercise with the HBFs

ApricotCrush · 01/11/2018 13:44

Thank you wenches. It is a bit warmer, but I'm taking my electric blanket anyway.

Will try to keep in touch. Have a good weekend all. Smile

Evening wenches.

Have a fab - and warm - break Apricot

Thanks Helen

DS2 also has homework that must be done tonight, but that’s because it’s due tomorrow. Phoned DH on the way home and suggested that DS2 could watch tv when he gets in but don’t let him go on the Wii because it makes it extra difficult to a) get him off it and b) concentrate afterwards. Anywench care to hazard a guess what DS2’s been doing since he got in? FFAS

LetUsPrey · 01/11/2018 19:48

Thanks Helen.

Vinnie (which my autocorrect keeps changing to Connie) can have a word with DS2 too. There have been Words. Many of them at volume. He’s not even started his homework and I have zero fucks left to give.
