Do you wear strong perfume? Because you make my ruddy head ache and I wish you would stop. Everyone else thinks so too but they are too polite to tell you that you stink.

I think that more or less covers it.

Hear hear!!

LedodgyCheapEasterEggsAreASin · 26/03/2007 21:09

I agree sometimes they give me a tickly cough too.

BarefootDancer · 26/03/2007 21:09

Well said!
White Musk from Bodyshop makes me go into sneezing fits.

colditz · 26/03/2007 21:11

I walked through the town at 8.30 this morning and was stricken by how strong everyone's body sprays were.

It's not like that at midday!

honestly, if you don't have time for a shower, wipe your pits with whatever you wash your face with and put some antiperspirant on! don't roll in a bucket of pot pourri!

TooTicky · 26/03/2007 21:12

I can't stand the cloud of fabric conditioner that so many people seem to live in either.

margoandjerry · 26/03/2007 21:12

I love you for posting this.

This is for you Opium/Poison/Obsession wearers. GRRR

LedodgyCheapEasterEggsAreASin · 26/03/2007 21:13

I hate those plug in air freshners.

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2007 21:13

I have had to leave shops because people's perfume was so strong and horrible. Imagine having to work with them all day in an air conditioned office.

lol colditz!!

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2007 21:14

Oh btw if anyone who knows me in RL is reading this, this is not about you. All my lovely friends wear either no perfume or pleasant subtle perfume. I am talking about random strangers who seem to have spilt the contents of a duty free shop over themselves.

I used to work with someone who would go to the smoking room at work then drench herself in 'Angel'. What a combination!! Vile.

Spidermama · 26/03/2007 21:16

Well said Franny.

I think the wearers of said perfumes get used to the stench, much like smokers, and don't realise how they smell to others.

You overly frangrant types should be grateful to franny for pointing this out to you.

wordgirl · 26/03/2007 21:16

I work with a woman who wears a perfume called Karma (made by Lush - need I say more) which she insists on liberally respraying at frequent intervals. I hate it.

Hassled · 26/03/2007 21:16

Can I have a view on Anais Anais please? And how much is too much? Is a single squirt on the neck OK? I feel a whole new complex coming on

PrettyCandles · 26/03/2007 21:17

Closely-shaven men wlking past you and leaving a cloud of aftershave trailing behind them. Yuck! Almost as bad as Poison.

Oh Wordgirl someone got me that LUsh karma cream for Christmas it bloody stinks so I sympathise!

wordgirl · 26/03/2007 21:20

I'm so pleased you said that Ledodgy cos everyone else tells her it's nice so I thought it was just me. Maybe they're just being polite. I just say nothing and grimace.

LedodgyCheapEasterEggsAreASin · 26/03/2007 21:21

It's really pungent like lilly pollen.

Zog · 26/03/2007 21:25

My babysitter was wearing the most rank perfume I've ever smelt when she was last round on Friday - it's still lingering on the sofa today .

Franny, you are so right. TBH, I think we live in a world of sensory nightmares - TV that flashes and cuts away every 2 seconds, overpowering artificial smells (am completely with the poster who mentioned plug in air fresheners), people yakking into mobiles and leaking music from their headphones every time I set foot on a bus or train etc etc

FrannyandZooey · 26/03/2007 21:25

Oh god the MEN doing it

and men smell so bloody lovely if they just wash reasonably frequently and maybe jog about a bit to get some pheromones going

I remember I'd hand my babies over smelling of my milk and get them back smelling of horrible perfume because they'd been cuddled by someone wearing it. My MIL for example.

Carmenere · 26/03/2007 21:29

I have one word for you. Lynx.
My dsis used to wear Shalimar - boak

talcyone · 26/03/2007 21:29

Is Eternity a hack inducing scent?
I have no sense of smell so am on dodgy ground.
Please tell me if i stink
