A community for parents...or is it?

mumof2andlovingit · 18/12/2014 09:20

as a new member, I was under the impression that this is a website community "by Parents, for Parents." I have been participating in a thread that is very heated and discovered that there are non parents commenting on here. Do you all think this is ok? It seems quite bizarre to me that someone is trolling through the site that isn't a parent. What would their motives be? I don't go onto sites for singles and comment. Although I have been single before so feel I could offer something if I wanted. But someone on this site, commenting about parenting things - and they aren't a parent themselves?? I am just curious about PARENTS opinions here. Please let me (and others) know what your opinion is on this matter. I am happy to listen and maybe there is a point I haven't thought of...thank you!

Well, to echo Chipping, I will hope for you. Make sure you are kind to yourself too, you're going through a tough time Thanks

Being a PARENT isn't all glitter .... Sometimes you have to turn the little critters blue Wink

Boomtownsurprise · 18/12/2014 20:01

I sprayed mine green. She wanted to be the witch from Oz.

Not as easy to get off as one might hope.

I want a badge too. (Stomps feet) with glitter and "sheriff" on. Everything improves with glitter. And nail polish lasts forever!

LuisSuarezTeeth · 18/12/2014 20:12

Wahey!! Now it's glittery shit. Has the strange one OP gorn?

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 18/12/2014 20:37

I think the glittery shit has scared her off Luis not sure why since it is PARENTS discussing glittery shit Xmas Grin

firstposts · 18/12/2014 20:44

My Labrador has just eaten the 'reindeer food' my son brought back from nursery. It is a mixture of oats and glitter.

I will inspect the results with interest.

LuisSuarezTeeth · 18/12/2014 20:49

I've got 27 kids. Surely I have the best opinion?

LuisSuarezTeeth · 18/12/2014 20:49

And I love glitter.

I win Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 18/12/2014 20:50

I remembered 'glittery shit' threads of the past this morning, when trying to find the plain brown dogturds among the scattering of identically-coloured leaves on my lawn this morning. But my DD is big now and I don't think we've got any glitter in the house now to decorate the dogfood with.

Redglitter · 18/12/2014 20:57

Luis

Awwww thank you. Love you too Wink

LuisSuarezTeeth · 18/12/2014 21:37

Honeydragon Turning your child blue is what makes you the best PARENT ever although obviously my opinion isn't really relevant as I am not a PARENT Grin

In fact if MrsDV is handing out badges you need an extra blue one to celebrate your awesomeness!

mumof2andlovingit is the trolliest name I ever ever saw Grin

SunshineBossaNova · 18/12/2014 23:17

I'd agree with you AF but as I'm NOT A PARENT I'm not allowed opinions, or summat. Grin

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 18/12/2014 23:19

I am A PARENT but I never talk about my kids on here (well only when they really get on my tits which is rare)

What would Op make of that ?

emotionsecho · 18/12/2014 23:22

This is what I love about MN an offensive thread turns on a sixpence and veers off into glittery shit and a general piss-take, truly the best crushing of a goady post and posterGrin

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 18/12/2014 23:27

there is another one on AIBU, emotionsecho

emotionsecho · 18/12/2014 23:42

Thanks AF.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 18/12/2014 23:43

good fun ain't they Smile

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 18/12/2014 23:43

I particularly appreciate the veering off into complete inanity

emotionsecho · 19/12/2014 01:02

Is there some kind of pre Christmas bile unleashing going on, they're multiplying faster than fleas on a mangey dog.

GraysAnalogy · 19/12/2014 01:08

'Trolling' always seems to be used in the wrong context on this site. It was original meant to describe people purposely on a wind up.

ErrolTheDragon · 19/12/2014 08:41

I guess an american might genuinely use 'trolling' instead of 'trawling'. Once in San Diego I saw a blackboard by a fish stall offering fish trolled from the bridge area, which made me Grin. (it was when DD was small, pre internet forum use of the term so the mental image was straight from 3 Billy Goats Gruff)

GraysAnalogy · 19/12/2014 12:19

Haha didn't think of that!
